Anyone else a Harry Potter Fan?

Harry Potter & the Death Hallows will be released July 21, 2007! Anyone else excited to read the book? Any predictions? Will Harry live? Will he kill Lord Voldemort? Who will survive?

Terri

Lol, my mother and I are both die hard Harry Potter fans. I read the first one out of curiosity after seeing the first movie on tv. Then I got hooked and bought the others. My mom started reading mine and got hooked and now my dad has read them all two. My sisters are split on it. 2 of them think that Harry Potter is evil because it is all about witchcraft and will not let their kids see the movies or read the books and then my other sister loves it so much she has the books for herself not just her son. Makes for some interesting dinner conversations!

Personally, I REALLY hope she doesn't go kill Harry off! That would be horrible! I'm still upset about Sirius, so she'd better not blow this last book! ;-)

I did read somewhere that she may kill off Harry so that no one else can take the Harry Potter character and write more books. She also said she that her readers may need to "toughen up" and that HP isn't a real character. I think that Snape is going to play a pivotal role in this book. Do you really think he killed Dumbledore to kill him in spite or in mercy?

I absolutely love all the Harry Potter books. I will buy my copy the morning it comes out and read it all day! I think the Harry Potter books have done more for reading than any other books on the planet! Some of the books I have two copies of - the American and the British version. I can't wait for the new one. There are all kinds of speculation about what the title means.

I love these books! My 9 year old son started them in September, and has finished all of them now. He keeps bugging me about when the last one is coming out!

I don't think Harry will die, how would parents promote the reading of this series if the hero dies in the end? I understand how this is all unfolding in the books, but I still believe this is a good vs. evil story where good will prevail. I will be surprised, however, if Ron or Hermione isn't "eliminated" in some way, just to maintain the realistic approach that Rowling has done through the entire series.

Shelley, I saw that picture. He is one hot little dude! (Little in age) I think I can understand why she may feel the need to kill off Harry, but I'm still aching from the loss of Dumbledore. I hope Harry comes out victorious and alive. And I still think Snape is a good guy.

I'm with you. I think there is a good side to Snape and that Harry will live. He'll become the next Dumbledore. Maybe JK Rowlings should start another series of novels with Harry as an adult...

Yes! DH, my 2 kids and I have read all the books and seen all the movies. I'm hopeful that Harry will survive but I have a feeling both he and Voldemort will die.

Oh I can't wait!!! I feel like I've been waiting years! At least the wait for the end of this series wasn't as long as I waited for the Gunslinger series by Stephen King!

I love Harry Potter, and I have been hooked from the first Harry Potter book. I already preordered my book from Borders. Can't wait!!

Robin,
I'm with you on the Dumbledore (sorry for the spoiler for those who haven't gotten to the last book). I keep hoping it wasn't real or something. And I'm torn on Snape. I keep going back and forth about him pretending to be bad for good reasons to maybe he always was bad and just hated Harry because of his hate for his parents. I don't know. What makes you believe he's still good?

When is the next movie coming out or have they stopped making the books into movies?

I heard this on the way to work and started bouncing in my seat - the other drivers must have thought I was nuts. I'm SOOO excited. I'm not even going to venture a guess. JK is pretty good at talking around what she doesn't want to reveal, so I think this is still really anything goes.

I just can't believe that Dumbledore was wrong about Snape. if he was good enough for D, he's good enough for me.

"I just can't believe that Dumbledore was wrong about Snape. if he was good enough for D, he's good enough for me."

Very insightful. I never thought of that. Making me think twice. Okay, getting a little too deep into thought about Harry Potter. Better get back to work!

Robin,

That is exactly what I thought. No matter what Snape did, Dumbledore overlooked it as if he knew better than to accept what everyone else was seeing in Snapes' behavior.
There is a reason for everything behind what Rowlings puts into these stories, I still think this is not what it seems at all. Maybe Dumbledore knew he had to "die" in order for this final confrontation to finally present itself, and what better person to help him ( that everyone would believe would be evil enough to commit such an act) than Snape. Overstating the obvious is not what Rowlings has been about with these books, imo.

Exactly - I think Dumbledore was pleading with Snape to kill him, not to save him. I just can't wait until it comes out. It will be somewhat anti-climatic though - what are we going to do once we're all done reading it? It's like the final episode of my all time favorite show, Knots Landing. It will be all over soon...:-(

Every time there is a HP thread I throw this into the mix to throw you all for a loop. I also totally agree Robin that Snape is good. And to take it one step further - DH believes that Prof. Mcgunnigal is the inside resident evil traitor. Just to make you go "hmmmmm" before July!
