Any Jersey City "Cathe" women?

RE: Any Jersey City

I'm in South Orange. :)

My best friend's in Bayonne, she's a yogi but I'm finally converting her to Cathe......she tried KM a few weeks ago & loved it, she's trying KPC w/me this w/e.

ETA: I just read Five Finger Discount, have you? It's a must read for anyone living in Jersey City.

RE: Any Jersey City

Hi Ladies, good to know at least two of you are close by :)

NO I haven't read the Five Finger Discount. What's it about?

RE: Any Jersey City

Oh Millie you should read it--it's a true story about a woman who grew up in JC & pretty much her whole family consisted of petty criminals. But it's really interesting reading about the history of 20th century JC. There's a lot in there about Hudson County politics & lots of juicy stories. It's also very well written & a good read.

RE: Any Jersey City

Well, I'm in South Orange but I grew up in south Jersey, Cherry Hill area. I've lived here about 3 years now. When I came back to NJ I really wanted to go back to south Jersey but this was the best job offer I got, & I must confess while both areas have a high quality of life in different ways, I don't think I ever want to live anywhere else again. :)

What about you? How long in JC? It's really undergone some wonderful changes during the last decade or so, although I hate to say what they did in the downtown is kind of ugly, way too modern for my taste. But it does have a great night life.

RE: Any Jersey City

I grew up in Hoboken and Union City. Went to Jersey City State my freshmen yr.

I remember the term Five Finger discount. If you stole something from a store, like candy, you'd say you got a five finger discount. Also, if you got some stolen merchandise you'd say it fell off the truck (or train).

I remember going fishing with my dad in what is now Liberty State Park. It was all trash and rocks and you could see the Statue of Liberty.

RE: Any Jersey City

Hi, ladies:

I work in Somerset County (Warren, specifically) which is down the road a piece. I also lived for a couple of years in Audubon, which is just south of Cherry Hill.

My SO is from Woodbridge and is probably THE most in-your-face, charismatic man I have ever met. (He's not even Italian, hehehehe.) I have to tell you, I could never date a non-NJ/NY man again! lol

Cheers,
Marie

RE: Any Jersey City

Jersey City is great! I've lived there now for about 6 years. I grew up in Manhattan (Lower East Side). I agree about Jersey City begin great!!

It's a wonderful place to live! And the community is just great!

I still work in Midtown Manhattan but I love going home to Jersey, it actually feels like going home.
