I am in a pickle!! any dog breeders please help. my poodle is in labor and so far saw a bubble and no puppy yet, how long do we have to get the puppy out before it suffocates?

I watched my cat give birth and it went smoothly...considering I saw the bubble trying to come out...and thought there was a problem. It took her about 20 minutes to finish that kitten. If it takes much longer I might consider intervention.

My fiance helped hold her leg and she seemed to REALLY like that...but then again she just behaved as if we left the room it would be the end of the world. So enjoy the excitement and you will know when you need to step in. We had to cut the cord on the 3rd kitten, who was the runt, because she was out but couldn't reach the nipples because she was still attached...so use your judgement.

Good Luck!!! Please post pics!!!

:)

I did it!!! it is a girl!! an orange little girl!! had to help pull it out was got pretty scary she wouldn't breath at first had to suction her but she is ok and now we wait for the second puppy!

we only got one puppy and boy was she hard to get out, after she pushed the body out she wouldn't push the head and I had to ever so carefully pull the head out and get her to breath because the bag of waters broke nearly an hour before she came out, but mother and puppy are doing well! and she is a little orange one almost looks black LOL.
One litter down and one more litter due in one week!!! and that one is going to be a scary one also!!! I had to bottle feed this dogs last litter so I have to make sure to get her to a vet with in 24 hours after the birth to get her a shot of oxytocin to help her milk come in and down. And have to pray tons that she free whelps this litter also, Pomeranians are well known for C-sections. Now I have to ask my self, "why am I doing this?" LOL I will post pics but how do I do that?

Glad to hear it went well. For future reference, you can call any vet clinic and they should be able to help you with info if your vet is closed. And you wouldn't want to wait more than about an hour after the water breaks before taking some sort of action.

I tried calling a vet and they were all closed and no emergency vet was open till 5 pm and this all happened at about 4:30 and the vets closed at 3 pm so you can see I was in a pickle

Murphy's law! Doesn't it always seem like they get into some sort of medical issue just after the vet's office closes! They just try to give us gray hairs sooner than we need them!

Glad to hear it all worked out!
