am I sleepwalking?

Okay, twice this week, I've gotten out of bed in the middle of the night, and started walking out of the bedroom. The first time, I realized it when my DH yelled out, "What are you doing?" Last night, I woke up as I was walking out the door. It was around 2:30 a.m. Is this sleepwalking, do you think? I can't remember if I was dreaming. But the first time, when my husband yelled, I remember feeling very agitated, like I was fleeing. Weird. Has anyone else experienced this?

Are you taking Ambien (I think that's it)? Some meds have caused sleep-walking, or even worse : sleep-eating or sleep-driving!

Yes, I do stuff like that, but I can't pinpoint what brings it on. Sometimes it seems to happens if I go to bed *too* early. I'm a night owl and get about 6 hours of sleep, but sleep like a rock. If I go to bed early and get 8 hours, I seem to sleep fitfully all night.

My episodes are always something I'm dreaming about and *think* I'm awake. A few weeks ago I was dreaming someone was coming to pick me up for something and I walked out to our living room and started watching out the window for them. It always takes me a few minutes to snap out of it. I've also gotten up and started the shower, thinking it was time to get up. My brother is the same way, but worse- when we were kids he would get up and have a conversation with someone and it took a few minutes before we realized he was sleepwalking. I also have a cousins does that "Sleep Eating" thing and often wakes up with food in her bed!

I've also heard of a link between Ambien and sleepwalking. This is interesting:

Definitely sounds like sleepwalking. I had a girlfriend who did that a lot and one night she actually broke her leg! There is definitely a connection with sleep aids and sleepwalking, so if you are on anything, I would mention this to your doctor.

I have never experienced sleep walking myself (knock on wood), but I have had problems with sleep paralysis and I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. :(

I've never sleepwalked myself but I had a roommate who talked and walked in her sleep every once in a while. Is it possible you're overtired? I think often we get weird in our sleep when we haven't had enough of it--just a thought. Or maybe you're under some stress and your subconscious thinks you have too much to do to be lying down?
