Am I reading this right?

I was going to order Cathe's L&G vhs since it was only $10. Did I read this right that it's $9.65 for shipping?!! What a rip off! I will pass. I can't believe she is charging that much for a stinkin' tape! Collage only charges $6, which is still alot, but holey moley!

It actually says at the bottom in big green letters "this item qualifies for free shipping". I'm not sure what that means.

I noticed that also on the DVd's, but I think it says that I qualify for free shipping because I pre-ordered the new ones.

Editing to say that it also says that for the videos, but not the gear or high step. It must because of the pre-sale order.

Our shipping prices are certainly not a ripp off. We only charge $1 more than what UPS charges us. I know this may seem high to you, but it is because you're only ordering 1 video. There is very little difference in price for shipping 1 video or 100.

Just to add...shipping costs are high on everything these days. And just wait until postage goes up yet again. Companies don't set their own shipping rates, UPS, FedEX and UPS do that for you. It all depends on how much the package weighs.

I quit selling on Ebay because the shipping charges are just too much anymore...and the fact that as a seller on Ebay who uses Paypal...Paypal now incorporates your shipping fees as part of your selling total so the seller is paying a fee for their friggen shipping costs. That was the last straw for me.

Some companies are big enough that they can afford to absorb some of the shipping costs themselves and then pass the savings on to customer's. I doubt Cathe.com is moving million's of dollars in product everyday so...we all have to pay the high shipping costs. It's frustrating but it is reality today.;(

Didn't realize that about Paypal! But I shipped ebay stuff last week and for the first time was shocked at how much it cost. Also bought a couple of fun keychains from an online store for my niece and nephew - $1.95 each - cost me almost ten bucks to ship them!

And, it's not just shipping that is going up....anyone buy a tomato lately? $3.99 a pound! Grrr....

I had this same question last month about the new shipping prices, and SNM offered me the same explanation. I believe Cathe's shipping prices are as fair as they possibly can be. I figure UPS and FedEx are taking advantage of the fuel prices to up their own charges. I also figure that life is going to become to expensive to live if our economy doesn't get itself under control.

I don't know why I feel the need to post this, but I was surprised at the tone of the post from SNM. Why so defensive? A short and sweet explanation of the costs would have done.

I think because they have explained it before and b/c they are not ripping us off. I am always surprised at how much most places charge for shipping (and some seperately for handling). I usually try to order as much as I can to get the best deal on s/h.

JMHO!

I agree the SNM reply was unprofessional and uncalled for and had a typo in it. I would not want the person who responded working for me or representing my company.

The tone of the original post wasn't exactly sunshine and lollipops.

Doesn't this sound pleasant?

"What a rip off! I will pass. I can't believe she is charging that much for a stinkin' tape!"

Nice. I would have replied the same way SNM did.

I absolutely hate to say this because I love Cathe, but I have to agree with you guys. If I was running a company, I wouldn't want anyone on my staff to respond like that no matter what; customer is king, and you know what, they pay my bills. I can kinda see why so many people won't buy from Cathe if they are getting responses like that in personal emails. ;( Hopefully Cathe will see this and give the person who responded a good lashing. }(

i think i would like to suggest having an alternative method of shipping. yes its the same price whether you order one or 100 videos(and maybe some of us can't buy more then ONE video at a time) but some don't mind waiting a few more days if the shipping rates are reasonable. you know do ups and optional usps shipping for those that are ordering one or two items. i don't have much of an issue b/c to ship UPS to me is cheaper then my west coast vidiots. it should be fair for all.

Yes, SNM this is a high price for shipping and, therefore, a rip off. So in order for me to get "a deal" I need to order $100 in vids? That to me is excessive. Your prices are high for dvds and vhs to begin with. Shipping should be lower.
Sorry if my posts seem offensive to those Catheites here, but I think when you pay a high price for a video, shipping shouldn't be excessive. And, I also did not care for SMN's response which will deter future purchases from me! I will purchase only through Collage from now on.

not offended here, i see your point in order to get a deal you have to order more then one video/dvd. i can understand that its not always possible hence my suggestion for two shipping methods UPS or USPS like some places have. that way for those that order on or two workouts we have the option of waiting a few days longer but paying much less on shipping. :D

$9.65 does seem like a lot to ship one tape. I just mailed out a heavier-than-average tape yesterday vis the regular post office, and it only cost $2 for First Class.

I have always found the postal service to be the most reasonable pricewise but companies choose their methods and that is their right. I prefer to purchase Cathe's workouts from SNM because I know if there's a problem, though I have never expereinced one, they will take care of it quickly and effectively. I found nothing objectionable in SNM's reply because the original poster chose to express her displeasure in the way she did, calling shipping costs a rip off when she could have said that was too expensive a shipping price for her liking. Does Collage even carry Legs & Glutes on VHS? Kind of a moot point that their shipping is less. I beleive qualifying for free shipping comes into play if you purchase $99.00 worth but I may be wrong so don't quote me. That's what it was a while ago when I ordered a few things. I also think it's a good deal since the tape was originally $25.00. You know Collage handles the tapes and DVD's of many, many instructors and giving a shipping discount makes more sense when it comes from larger companies with larger inventories. SNM does do tht as well but their shipping costs are nominally higher. I have never been one to give too much thought to shipping costs if I want something that can only be purchased online. Some shipping and handling is relatively expensive and some not. It's often best if you are making a large purchase. Such is life. :)

I think shipping has gone up on all things. I just ordered a bathing suit(two tops and one bottom) from Venus and the shipping is $11.95 for something that doesn't even weigh a pound. Crazy}(
