9/11

Sorry to be the depressing one, guys. I'm really sad today. I was watching a show where people were telling their stories, and showing the items that were recovered that belonged to their loved ones. Those items mean the world to those people, and I cried like a baby watching that show. I couldn't help thinking about how somewhere, in the rubble on Staten Island, are all the items that were once my DH's. Family photos, binoculars, a comical M&M dispenser. But there's one difference for me: I have my DH, so those items are meaningless.

With all my daily gripes and complaints on most days about all the little things, today is one day that I know that I have nothing to complain about. I am the luckiest person in the whole wide world.

I am with you Nancy. We are so lucky. I have been watching a couple specials on 9/11. I watched one on Discovery last night. It was heartbreaking.

Here is an email I got this morning.
SO MUCH FOR COMPLAINING,

I am Thankful :

FOR THE HUSBAND
WHO IS ON THE SOFA
BEING A COUCH POTATO,
BECAUSE HE IS HOME WITH ME
AND NOT OUT AT THE BARS.

FOR THE WIFE
WHO SAYS IT'S HOT DOGS TONIGHT,
BECAUSE SHE IS HOME WITH ME,
AND NOT OUT WITH SOMEONE ELSE.

FOR THE TEENAGER
WHO IS COMPLAINING ABOUT DOING DISHES
BECAUSE IT MEANS HE IS AT HOME,
NOT ON THE STREETS.

FOR THE TAXES I PAY
BECAUSE IT MEANS
I AM EMPLOYED.

FOR THE MESS TO CLEAN AFTER A PARTY
BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE
BEEN SURROUNDED BY FRIENDS.

FOR THE CLOTHES THAT FIT A LITTLE TOO SNUG BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE
ENOUGH TO EAT.

FOR MY SHADOW THAT WATCHES ME WORK
BECAUSE IT MEANS
I AM OUT IN THE SUNSHINE

FOR A LAWN THAT NEEDS MOWING,
WINDOWS THAT NEED CLEANING,
AND GUTTERS THAT NEED FIXING
BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE A HOME.

FOR ALL THE COMPLAINING
I HEAR ABOUT THE GOVERNMENT
BECAUSE IT MEANS
WE HAVE FREEDOM OF SPEECH..

FOR THE PARKING SPOT
I FIND AT THE FAR END OF THE PARKING LOT BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM CAPABLE
OF WALKING AND I HAVE TRANSPORTATION.

FOR MY HUGE ELECTRIC BILL
BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM COOL OR WARM.

FOR THE LADY BEHIND ME
WHO SINGS OFF KEY BECAUSE IT MEANS
I CAN HEAR.

FOR THE PILE OF LAUNDRY AND IRONING
BECAUSE IT MEANS
I HAVE CLOTHES TO WEAR.

FOR WEARINESS AND ACHING MUSCLES
AT THE END OF THE DAY
BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE BEEN
CAPABLE OF WORKING HARD.

FOR THE ALARM THAT GOES OFF
IN THE EARLY MORNING HOURS
BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM ALIVE.

AND FINALLY, FOR TOO MUCH E-MAIL
BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE
FRIENDS WHO ARE THINKING OF ME.

Wishing you rainbows, love, laughter, happiness, peace, and abundance

I've tried to avoid all 9/11 coverage this weekend. I've been a little down lately and I think a look back at the devastation would push me over the edge. I do spend a lot of time in prayer and have remembered the poor souls who lost their loved ones on that day. Lori, thanks for your post.
