40's hot July thread

Murphy

Cathlete
I did not see a thread so I started one. I gave HS another try but this time I did the whole main program and not a premix. I am still not crazy about it, but I did enjoy the conditioning and the abs. My assistants are here, gotta go.

Murphy

Hi

Murphy - thanks for getting us started this month. How do you find those full sit-ups/push-ups at the end? I never manage them!

Had a really nice weekend. Went to a little party on Sat night and met loads of new people. Then spent the day out yesterday, at the funfair and at a family event in park. Drive home was a bit of a nightmare but it always is on a Sunday.
Did the rest of Drop Set Strength today, Shoulders, Bis and Tris (and did the core again). I really like it. It's not as tough as Cathe, I was able to go heavier on the bis section. But I really like Amy and I like the exercise variety. I can see me using it a lot.
Loads of good tennis on today so I'm going to be parked in front of the TV for hours!

Good Morning,

I started the rotation my trainer gave me and I forgot how tough her workouts are and then I did CK25 WK5 D2 now my legs are shot.

Exercises:
Boxer Situps 20 reps I used 2lb hand wts.
Squats with 10lb Wt on shoulders 20 reps.
Walking Lunges 20 steps 10lb wt.
Renegade Rows with a Pushup 10 reps 10lbs.
Bicep Curl with Overhead Press 10 reps 10lbs.

Repeated it 3 times.

Ronne-good job with your workout and it sounds like you had a fun time.

Murphy-HS is a hard one to like.

Wow all these exercises post puts me to shame! And here I'm just happy I can lower my head to the pillow with not too much pain :) that may mean the car ride next week to the doctor shouldn't be too bad thank goodness

I guess I'm one of the few that likes hard strikes. Don't like all the jumping jacks but then remember I have permission to modify once I start working out again :) I don't care for the conditioning part of hard strike though.

Good job on those workouts, ladies. Roxie that sounds like a fun hard one. Good thing you started us, Murphy, I would have said 40's fizzling out, I'm in a grump. Ronne your weekend sounds fun and rejuvenating. Lisa, managing your brace counts as a workout!

So yesterday I skipped and today I almost skipped b/c of reasons but just now I did HS. To me HS feels like HiLo since I don't really get into the boxing part. If you don't like this workout you should try doing it like I do. At one point I'm pretty sure I was just doing the twist with 2.5 pd wts instead of gloves. Overall I managed to put quite a few bellydance moves into it.
Nice group of chem students this semester. Work at 8ish~ night all.
Eta this am my feeties hurt a bit from HS and I had oblizque doms fr om Tamilee I Want Those Abs yest.

Did a premix of TTM. I had to take a break in the middle. I do feel ready to start the day! Let's see how long that lasts!

Roxie - Is this a new Amy? I don't know all of her stuff. What do you think of her work after the baby? I always felt like she had a "just do it" attitude before she had a child(or children?). After her baby she seemed to relate to the struggle to get back in shape.
Roxie - that workout sounds challenging. Good job with it.
Lisa - sounds like you are feeling better each day. Keep following doctor's orders. Regarding HS, the conditioning part is the only part I like.
Jody - I have not seen Tamilee in a long time, but she always did have nice abs. How is the dvd? I hope you are feeling less grumpy today?

Murphy

Hi all

Murphy - yes, it's a post-baby Amy. I think this is the only one of those I've got. I'm not so interested in her cardio anymore as I've gone off step a bit.

Jody - That Tamilee DVD was one of the first ones I bought! It came on one DVD with arms and legs. I used to love it! I sold it a few years ago.

Lisa - that is your achievement. You're in recovery after a major operation - we would come down on you like a ton of bricks if you started exercising!! :D

Roxie - looks like a tough regime!

Did the cardio only premix from Plateau Buster. It's only 30 mins but it was tough! I was surprised how hard it was. Just started raining so I had to dash out and bring the washing in!
Booked our car for California last night. We're on the countdown now, we fly in four weeks!!

Good Morning,

I did Turbo Fire HiiT 15 and Stretch 10. My legs are so sore from yesterdays workout I can't hardly walk.

Ronne-it was a tough workout. I haven't tried Platuea Buster yet might need to work it in.

Jody-are you in a better mood today?

MIS done!
Roxie, sounds ouchie.
Ronne I've kept most of my dvds- can't think of any I've ever gotten rid of? I have loaned that Tamilee out, but I figure some day I may be starting all over and it would fit right in. It is tough, short and effective!
Murphy it is a good dvd, but wts are pretty light. I liked it especially for legs and then core, I don't remember doing the arms too much.
Hi Lisa and happy vacay to Mary.
oops, this was supposed to be a drive by, gotta go. ps still grumpy.

Hi ladies, you are all correct, I'll continue to work on my healing. Miss doing real checkins!

Jody, pms? Hope you find a cure for your grumpies

Ronne, I bet you're excited about California like we would be if we were going to Europe. How long will you be there, 2 weeks?

Murphy, how did your day turn out? As good as it started?

Did HR. I really need to get off this upping my weights kick. My arms were shaking by the time I was done.

Ronne - are you going away soon? We will be away for a few days - Buffalo.
Jody - I suffer from nms quite frequently. I am waiting for them to introduce a pill for it!
Lisa - how is recovery going?
Roxie - can you walk today?
Mary - are you doing STS? how is it going?

Murphy

Hi all

Murphy - shaking is good! Yes, we fly to San Diego in just over three weeks time!!

Jody - tell me about it! I had a little DVD sale a few years ago and I think I'm going to have to have another one soon, now I've got another four new ones. Just don't have the space. It's almost a one in, one out policy now which means I really have to want something before buying it!

Lisa - We're going to be away for nearly 3 weeks actually! California's a big place and we want to see as much as possible.

Roxie - hope you get a nice leg stretch in today.

Did TB. I was swearing pretty much all the way through! Haven't done the whole thing in a while and I really felt it. Sweating like a pig!
Got to get a plumber out. We tried to fix our blocked kitchen sink and now can't get it back together again. We are complete practical morons!

Good Morning,

I did KCM's TLC1 and then my legs were begging for a nice long walk so I did 1.91 miles outside since its so nice out. I have to take my mom to a funeral either Friday or Saturday don't know for sure yet which day. We are headed to the lake as soon as DH gets home.

Murphy-legs are really screaming I can't hardly get out of my chair.

Ronne-I will do another stretch when we get home this evening.

I did a forums inspired CCC but the express premix. Sorta like Afterburn, the express premix is around 30 min and now that I've done them I don't think I'll likely do the full ones too often. I find express pm effective yet I don't have to spend a lot of time psyching myself up in order to do it.
Murphy, Mary is on vacay I think and she and I are planning on STS starting the 8th I think. Roxie, have fun today.
Ronne, lol to practical morons! I hope your sink is fx soon!
Lisa, I'm glad to know how you are progressing. Hang in there~~

Oh, yesterday I picked up a script for dd (oral abx for acne). $150 for 3 months. Really? Same script 9 months ago was $15 for 3 months. Hmm, let me verify that. OK here ya go, I got it down to $30. WTH? I'm grateful for 30 rather than 150, but if it is arbitrary, let me know what the secret is so I don't ever pay exorbitant amt.

Afternoon ladies

Jody - that sounds like a good plan for CCC. It's on my list of DVDs to do this month but I haven't plucked up courage yet! That doesn't make any sense about the prescription costs!

Roxie - You're really punishing your legs! Any news on the job front?

Did Workout 1 of KCM Weights (new DVD): Chest, Back and Legs. It was tougher than I expected. Some good push-up work for chest. I did the premix with cardio active rests. I like the fact that there are three different versions of each workout with different breaks each time. Really good idea.
Just been to the hairdresser, hidden all my grey (and silver!!) hair.

Good Morning,

I don't have to worry about my legs hurting today now its my core and shoulders. I also did CK25 WK5 D3 ran for 18 minutes.

Body Weight Exercises:
plan walks 10 reps
knee to chest with feet on wt bench 30 reps
mountain climbers 40 reps
jumping jacks 50 reps
burpees with pushups 10 reps

repeated 3 times.

Ronne-I need to back off the legs but I like the work they are getting.

I did XT disc 2, Bi and Tri but a timesaver version plus Core 1. First time w/ that workout, it looked long and heavy so I backed off on wt and sort of had a misfire workout. It will go smoother next time. My dad coming to visit. What to feed him? We all dine a la cart here. I can give him one of DD 20 pop tarts, a baked potato, green smoothie and veggie corn dog? LOL, no wonder he doesn't visit often.

Ronne, I watched Murray a little while yesterday, not sure how he ended up. Roxie, that is a nice rotation to be able to fall back on, it is sounding intense. Lisa, are you having both boys over today by any chance? Hi Murph anMary on vacay.
ps Ronne, I liked that CCC pm a lot, glad to have it in my aresenal.

Jody, you're grumpies came my way. For a totally different reasons. Washed my hair yesterday put up in pony could feel major doms coming in traps and mid back major pain by night continues to today. At this rate I'm very depressed about my recovery. Can't always figure out why the ups and downs. Don't think I'm doing too much. At this point rearranging pillows feels like a workout. Maybe because I tried to go to 4 percocet a day, today went back to 5 and 2000mg tylenol. Hope I don't kill my liver. Staying around 3500mg a day of tylenol. Don't get me started in costs if drugs. I've had a to pay full price a couple of times because insurance thought I was refilling too soon. Slept so bad I made dh drag queen tempurpedic-like bed that was in storage since kids moved in to our bedroom. So we have king and queen filling up the room from wall to wall. I just want to sleep. I'm sure it's more a defective body than a defective bed. Tired of these muscles hurting maybe instead of it being like doms X 1000 it's now doms X 100. But I would just like a couple days of normal.

As far as feeding people, I'm tired of food. So no help there. Poor dh schedule his first colonoscopy, he is not happy about the prep. He keeps trying to make excuse not to do it but I think deep down he's worried there may be an issue. So I'm telling him to just do it. Sucks getting old. DS said to remind him never to turn 50.

Hi everyone

Lisa - you do sound down in the dumps. Hope things start to get better for you soon.

Jody - mmm, sounds delicious! :p Yeah, Murray got through in the end. My nerves were shredded and it starts all over again today!

Roxie - ouch! is all I can say.

I've decided that Fridays are yoga days for the moment. Did YM which I hadn't done for ages. Tried to do it with concentration, thinking about the breath and movement. It really worked.
A bits and pieces weekend, bit of shopping, lots of tennis watching, bit of housework. The sun is shining!
Whileing away the time as DD was at gymnastics yesterday I managed to buy myself some crop trousers and shorts for my holiday. I've got to stop spending!
