Creatine or other supplements?

Hi everyone! Just wondering what everyone takes for supplements, recently reading up on health benefits of creatine. Does anybody use this? Any recommendations?

I take just 5gm a day. And I get whatever is the cheapest quality brand. I do like the Bodybuilding.com brand. Its like 80 servings for less than $10.

In my morning smoothie I take protein powder, a multi-greens powder and another powder that contains turmeric, msm, ginger and magnesium. I also take Fish Oil, Evening Primrose Oil, a multi mineral tablet, Vitamins B, C, D and E, and CoQ10. In the evenings I take a Joint Care tablet that contains Glucosamine and Chondroitin. If I am doing a high impact or strenuous workout I will often take a pre-workout drink and sometimes use a post workout branched chain amino acids drink. I sometimes take L-Carnitine too. I don't use creatine.

I don't recommend taking creatine. My husband was the picture of health in his mid-thirties, working out (on SWAT, did SWAT Olympics) and was a faithful user of creatine. Then he started having all sorts of health problems.
Please don't use it. Things might not happen right away, but some time the road...

Just eat healthy.

I used creatine and BCAAs briefly in the past but didn't like how I felt using them (digestion issues). More recently I got into using collagen (high quality grass fed) but based on a podcast I listened to, I am going to give Essential Aminos a try. (The podcast was Ben Greenfield's interview with Dr. Minkoff https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/podcast/supplements-podcasts/essential-amino-acid-benefits/) Sounds like they are even better than collagen. Anyone else have any experience with essential aminos? (I went with the Kion brand tablets since they put a great deal of work into the particular levels of each amino in their formula.) I sound like an ad, but I'm not! Curious if anyone else has an opinion on EAs... Thanks!

Bumping on this interesting discussion.

Few users who replied in the past are no longer active on the forum. I am not expecting any update from them. Unless they have changed their name:rolleyes:

@rhbrand ,@sneakers Are you still taking creatine. How long so far.
Really need your thoughts on this.

After many years of relunctance, I decided to take the plunge and try 5gr.
Feeling myself again, to say the least!

Recovery for sure. Lots of research shows it can help with brain help, especially as you age, and I'm not as young as I use to be. Also good for depression and I always feel down in the winter months. I think it has helped with that.

I do use creatine. I've done the research and its good for the body and the brain. Worth it for me.
I also take a multivitamin, extra Vit D and fish oil. Oh, and protein powder
I do take these above too:)
Less protein powder than before though.

ETA: I do take my creatine adding it in my daily matcha tea. I am avoiding pure coffee at the moment. I have noticed, it is suppressing my appetite lol:D:D I call it my "cheat beverage". I think a combination of creatine, protein powder and matcha tea is suppressing the appetite.;)

Hi there! I forgot about this thread. Nice to see an old discussion revived. :)

I do still take creatine. I stopped the BCAAs and the EAs and just do creatine now. Too many benefits no to (IMO), but I admit lately I haven't been as consistent as I had been. I appreciate the recovery aid and the potential protective aspects on brain health and mood.

I thought I had read that it is best not to take it with caffeine. Sounds like you are still experiencing the benefits taking it that way, so maybe I need to revisit that.

I need your formula for appetite suppression!!!! I feel like I've gone the opposite direction: always hungry!! That gets old. What kind of match tea do you use? I'm limiting the protein powders because of digestive issues, but I'm curious what you're using for that too.

Thanks!!
Have a great day!

Appetite..... lol this made me laugh, I know:D:D:D I live in Europe. I have used puresana in the past and It worked like a charm. The vanilla flavour without any added sugar. Not sure you can find this brand in USA. Whey does not agree well with my digestive process. Pea is better and I prefer plain food consumption. So I am actually consuming less protein than I used to.

Recently I have opted for pea protein powder from a local company. It is pretty clean and so far I am ok.
Here below is the link. It is an organic product.

I do purchase my matcha tea from a chinese local supplier. It is an import from China.

Thanks for replying

Take care:);)
