Fashionistas HELP! Eyeglasses

I'm going to my yearly eye appointment tomorrow and I know he's going to change my prescription. I need new eyeglasses anyway I suppose .... so what are the current trends for eyewear? ...Anybody? Klaudia? Nancy? Thanks ladies!

I just had to update my prescription a couple of months ago and noticed more color, retro and geek chic frames, and ornamental temples—cutouts, color, mixed materials. I opted for a lil funky (but not TOO trendy) with a frame by Fysh.

Happy specs shopping!

If you are going to a first rate opticians, they will already have in stock the latest fashions in eye wear. After that, the only thing that matters is finding the most flattering pair for you. With some people and some glasses, the frames are so eye catching that the glasses add to that person's face rather than make me wonder how attractive the person might be without the glasses. That's the pair you want to find. Take your time, try everything and you never know what might look great on you. Have fun!

And if you are nearsighted, it's a good idea to bring a camera with you and take pictures of yourself wearing the glasses you like. I'm pretty nearsighted, and find that it's hard to judge what glasses look like on me when trying them on because I can't see that clearly!

Our optomistrist takes digital pictures of the various choices and puts them onto the computer to look at! Kathryn is sooo right. What we think looks amazing in the mirror might look ummmm less-than-perfect from a different angle or to other people. I ended up choosing an entirely different pair when I saw on the computer how my choices REALLY looked! Ugh! I think I'm going to bi-focals this year. I get checked in July!

Happy shopping!

Thanks for the tips ladies! My doc didn't have the picture option so hopefully I got a cute pair! I got some dark Kate Spade retro-ish glasses w/ turquoise on the inside. Can't wait for them to come in!

This is sort of off topic, but I get all of my glasses from Zenni Optical (online). All you need is your prescription, and they literally have thousands of pairs of glasses to choose from-and CHEAP!! I got my last two pairs for $20 a piece. The downfall is that you don't get to try them on, but if you know the style you want then its awesome! Plus you get to have multiple pairs without having to break the bank.

What a great idea! I'll do that next time...

That's GREAT to know - I paid over $400 for my last pair of 'chic' oh so hip, oh so dam uncomfortable glasses at an optical chain and they are serving as a very expensive paperweight. They look nice on me, but I can't wear them for any length of time. I'd rather go the cheap route :)
