Now it's Pistachios????

We got a call from Costco concerning our purchase of Back to Nature Nantucket Blend (pistachios, almonds, cranberries, cherries) that it had been recalled and to return it for a refund. WTH! Before that, we had to return a box of Cliff bars because of the peanuts!
 
DH was pretty pissed about this...he loves pistachios.

At this rate, will the Shamwow guy have any nuts left to chop...or slap chop? :p
 
We just bought a bag yesterday and I was snacking on them last night. I never eat pistachios but thought it might just keep me from eating too much as I could keep busy opeining the shells. Oh well at least I feel fine. Now wondering if I can return them as they are not cheap--bought them loose where you can weigh them yourself.
 
Too bad there is no legistlation in place to ensure proper handling, processing and tracking of this kind of stuff! It would be so cool if they could identify where it came from so they knew exactly what the problem was and more specifically, which products actually had to be recalled and which did not. But no, throwing away a couple million pounds of food and causing national pistachio panic is better.

I'm pretty sure the necessary regulations already exist. Unfortunately, the ability to enforce them appears to be the weak link (lack of funding, technology, workload, etc).

I agree, the mass throwing out of food is a huge waste.
 
From what I understand, it is on the Kraft Back to Nature Trail Blend that is in question - not all pistachios.
 
The FDA has put out a warning to avoid ALL products containing pistachios. I ate a pile of pistachios just last night :(

If it ain't one food problem it is another. What is it with nuts lately, first peanuts and peanut butter and now pistachos? Gee whiz....we should all be skinny time the FDA recalls most food products.
