Oooops!!!

Good Morning Peeps,

I hope everyone has a great weekend.
I'm still trying to recover from our horrible tragedy.
I just wanted to say hi to everyone and see how everyone is.
Can't get too self involved that way.

Hi Ellie, good to see you again. :)

I.habe.a.cold. UGH! I finally got what Houdini and DH had last week and the week before. The Zicam is helping minimize the symptoms, but I plan to rest and drink lots of fluids today, so this workout week is quite...crap. Hopefully I can kick it back into gear on Monday to rally for a good workout on Thanksgiving day to burn LOTS of calories before I consume them right back!!!!

I'll check in later. Houdini is kicking against her bedroom wall and that means she wants out. LOL!

:) Wendy

Peeps Check-in

Peeps:

Good morning! My internet time has been limited this week, but I have been keeping y’all in my thoughts and prayers.

I am fixing breakfast and looking forward to the 4-Day Split Kickbox cardio premix for a fun Saturday morning workout. I hope to get to the club this afternoon for Cardio Coach in the pool.

I am volunteering for a mission project this morning. I have shared before that I serve on a ministry team of women who reach out to women in the adult entertainment industry. This started as a Good Friday outreach in 2004. We have established good relationships with the club managers and dancers and started visiting once a month this year (at their invitation). We deliver gift bags filled with makeup, costume jewelry, bubble bath, and other goodies, and offer help with childcare and other needs (as many of these women are single mothers). We even get invited to their baby showers now! We also reach out to the homeless and women in the local family abuse shelter. This started with a small group of friends from my church family. We believe love is the most excellent way, and Jesus calls us to love and be a blessing to others (and not just people who look, think, live, and believe the way we do). We share the love of God and offer them hope for a better future. Many of these women want out of the pit. It is very hard for them to break free and find another way to make a living with a history of abuse, addiction, and lack of education (especially in this economy). Many of these women went from being molested in childhood to domestic violence later in life. A sister church in our city is opening a recovery home for women who need a safe place to stay while they detox from drugs, break free from prostitution, and make the transition to a new life. I am going to help clean, paint, decorate, and transform this house into a home of hope for these precious women. I am in tears as I type this. There are homes for men in recovery around here, but this is a first for women who need mercy, grace, and hope. I am so excited to have a place like this to send the women I meet who want a new life. God is good to provide this answer to prayer.

Ellie, I am praying and sending hugs. I am grieving with you. What a tragic loss and right before the holidays too. I am keeping the doctor in my prayers. How is he feeling? How are your boys? How are you?

Laura, I am praying for you too. I found the Fiber One bars this week, but I am still looking for the caramel flavor you requested. Have a safe trip. Grace and peace to you during this crisis time.

Wendy, I hope you feel better soon. Hugs and prayers for you too!

Hugs to Catherine, Dani, JJ, Karin, Robin, Vilma, and the rest of the Peeps who visit today.

Blessings,
Heather B.

"So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God" (1 Corinthians 10:31 NIV).

Good morning everyone. I am enjoying a nice bowl of banana bread oatmeal.

http://thequirkykitchen.blogspot.com/2008/11/my-breakfast.html

It's so good!!! DH and I are going to go on a bike ride after we watch our favorite English Premiere League team play their match today.

My presentation went well. I was so drained afterwards though. You put so much hard work into something and then when it is over you just want to go home and chill. Too bad that I couldn't though. I did leave work around 3:30 yesterday because I was just done with the week. I couldn't stay there anymore. I am so happy it's the weekend.

Last night DH and I were going to go and see the newest Bond movie. We never go out on Friday nights anymore because everywhere is just so busy, but we decided (for some dumb) reason to try to go last night. We went to the theaters and it was so busy. We couldn't even find a spot to park. Needless to say, we turned around and came home. I am hoping to go back to see the movie later this afternoon.

Ellie - I'm so sorry about the tragedy that you have been living through. I just ready about it in the OD. I haven't been keeping up with the posts at all this week.

Wendy - I hope that you start feeling better soon. Get lots of rest! You asked about the pumpkin oatmeal and if I used the pomegranate seeds. No, I didn't. They were too expensive, like you said. I would have loved to have tried it though.

Heather - How do you do CC in a pool? Do you have a waterproof ipod? That sounds interesting. Also your volunteer work sounds amazing. You guys are really making a huge difference in people's lives.

I just wanted to say that I ran to the supermarket this morning to get all I need for the Pumkin Oatmeal you posted yesterday!
I must say, It tasted great, it has so much fiber, not only from the oatmeal but also from the canned pumpkin.
Now, I couldn't find the vanilla sugar, I just used vanilla extract, is it the same??

Here's the recipe that I use for vanilla sugar.

I think that adding a splash of vanilla extract and some sugar in the oatmeal would be a fine substitute though.

Can I join this group, please...I need a daily check in to help get me back on track, two weeks without work outs was way too long to be away!

Can I be a peep??

Jerry is a PEEP!

Yay, Jerry, OF COURSE you can be a Peep! Welcome to the club. There is always someone at check-in daily so you'll be able to stay on track. :)

By the way, everyone down here in the Big D is celebrating the return of Tony Romo as the Jedi warrior who will save the team from disaster (IE not making playoffs.) The reuturn of Pac Man, er Adam Jones--not so much.

Karin--How do you find these fantastic oatmeal recipes? I'm going to try the pumpkin one tomorrow (I stocked up on pumpkin at the store a few weeks in a row and somehow I now have 7 cans of organic pumpkin??!!??) so I can't wait. I'm so glad your presentation went well, good job and congrats! Did you make it to the movie today??

Heather--I think what you are doing for missionary work is AWESOME!! What an inspiring read and that's exactly the kind of work God wants us to do. Your mission group sounds like an incredible group of ladies, just like you! :)

Off to check in on the Penn State game...Robin, R U watching?????

:) Wendy

Jerry just wants to join because I said PEEP SHOW!!!!

I would be honored to have you as a member. It's so nice to have great support here. The PEEPS are wonderful. And I am learning to cook, learning that pre mixes are awesome, Uganda is beautiful and all the PEEPS have up and downs like the rest of us!!!

Now remember Jer, somedays my sense of humor is a little over the top, but I know you love it!!! And sometimes I tell little fibs about how long my w/o lasted before hitting the pause button. Just an FYI
Welcome
ellie

Wendy,

At least you have a semblence of a season left, the local QB here doesn't know the rules of the game, it would seem, even though he did actually win an OT playoff game in 2003.

The Phils WS win has been like a super sized roll of charmin covering up a huge mess left by the Eagles!

Hi Peeps...

Just checkin' in... feeling a bit under the weather but for a totally self-imposed reason... can you say Apple Martini X 5??? UGH! I NEVER drink but a small group from work decided to start a monthly Happy Hour get together and I felt compelled to show my solidarity and team spirit by joining in the... uh.... ummm... libations?! my sides hurt from laughing so hard... can that be considered an AB workout? cuz I was in no shape to do any substitution for Low Max from the November rotation! If there were the little GREEN smiley, I would have inserted that one a few times... I got home and stopped the churning in my stomach... won't go into great deal of detail... but couldn't take my Ambien because of the inebriation... so besides the bed spinning uncontrollably, I didn't sleep either...

Ellie: you can say "HAHAHA" and I completely deserve it! I'm so glad that you decided to share with all your Peeps in your tradgedy... I hesitate to call it recovery because that would imply that you could actually "recover" from a loss such as this, however, you can move forward, keeping the memory of your friends close to your heart! But as always, your genuine compassion and warm personality shines through! I, for one, am glad to have you back with the Peeps!

Wendy: so sorry you are feeling under the weather... sending get well vibes for you so you can enjoy your Thanksgiving workout AND calorie overload! My condolences to you on the Big D... DH is a Dallas fan and I have had all kinds of fun with him on their "situation"... but hey, guess I can't complain, at least they still have a shot... my Seahawks can't even seem to make first downs, let alone win a game... :( So, I wait for next year...

Karin: we are going to have to start calling you Betty Crocker! You are a wealth of recipies! I have to admit, that while I don't really like pumpkin, I am green with envy on the banana oatmeal! (although green today for a completely different reason LOL)... You and Wendy will have to start a recipe book for Peeps!

Heather: i was wondering the same thing about your water Ipod... last year we had our first pool and I bought a waterproof mp3 player, but it didn't work very well... what do you use? Kudos to you on your outreach ministry as well!

Jerry: Welcome to the Peep show... so far IMHO we are a bunch of Cathe-crazed people who are in much need of... for lack of a better word... help! So we have banded together under Robin's Peeps banner and proudly help keep each other exercising, eating better most of the time, and share laughter, tears, and many of lifes simple moments! These are truly wonderful, supportive, humorous people and I for one would enjoy having your point of view!

happy weekend to the rest of the Peeps, wherever they may be: Catherine, Robin, Laura, JJ, Vilma, and I'm sure there are some that I have missed!

Where has the day gone? DH and I watched the soccer game, went for a bike ride, and then watched some of the PSU game and went grocery shopping. I am making roasted tomato salsa right now for the first time and I hope it turns out well.

Jerry – welcome to the check in

Wendy – I find the recipes on www.foodgawker.com. It’s like food porn :). Are you feeling better?

Ellie – I hope that you are hanging in there.

Dani – OMG, 5 apple martinis? Isn’t it hard to stop once you start? I remember when I was in Sweden on a work trip and we were at a dinner with people attending the conference. Well, they served wine with the meal and basically kept filling up your glass every time you took a sip. I must have had 7 glasses of wine that night without realizing it until too late. I felt so horrible the next morning and almost missed my flight back to the states. I hope that you are feeling less green soon :).
