Your Fitness Journey Evolves—So Should Your Training

Hi Everyone,

We all train for different reasons at different points in our life, and our schedules and training focus can change many times.

Inevitably as we age our outlook on fitness and training shifts. This can simply be because of some of the changes in our bodies slowing us down and changing the way we need to train, but it can also have a lot to do with the way that we start to respect our health and our bodies as we get older.

At 20 we feel invincible. There are usually no nagging pains or injuries that drag us down. We want to look good and build muscles that help us stand out and show off our physique. This attitude toward fitness can carry us through decades before we start to see our bodies and our health with new eyes. Now, don’t get me wrong, we do still want to look good in our clothes, and feel accomplished with the level of training that we’re performing, but other things start to happen as well. Maybe it’s the birth of your first grandchild that makes you realize how lucky you are to be able to lift them, play in the yard with them, and keep up without feeling exhausted. Maybe it’s your ability to pick up and carry your case of bottled water, kitty litter, dog food, or any other heavy object that many may struggle with. Maybe it’s the fact that you wake up in the morning just feeling good and don’t take that for granted. Whatever the case may be, we often start to gain a new respect for our bodies and our health.

When we look back at our fitness past it’s easy to think “if only I had understood then what I understand now”. The great news is, that our fitness past has helped to set us up for our fitness future. We may change the way we train, paying greater attention to things like balance, flexibility, and mobility, all of which we may have overlooked in our younger training years, but we can still perform physical activity that makes us feel good, look good, and sets us up for life.

The new Lift, Move & Restore 2: ELEVATED! series, was created to help the fitness-minded individual continue to train at a level that makes them feel strong and accomplished, while also adding extra focus on areas that may start to decline as they age. We will use weights that challenge our muscles, perform cardio that keeps our hearts pumping, and do thoughtful mobility sequences that keep our bodies mobile and flexible. This is the perfect bridge between where we are currently, and where we still want to be as we age.

So, whether you’re currently training for your summer body, your parent body, your grandparent body, you're fighting an illness body, your making a comeback body, or your everyday healthy body, this series has a perfect mix of push and recovery to help you get there!
