Will I gain weight?

Since my regular routine has been cardio 5 days per week plus one body part per day is there a chance that I will gain weight with only doing 3 days of cardio on the STS system and still comparable amounts of weights?

not part of the STS team but my answer is: "you won't know it unless you try it";-) Its good to change things up so with the new weight training segments and altered cardio frequency you may be plesantly suprised with your results. The hardest part of working out is finding what works for your own body. the only way to do this is to try different routines. make sure your diet is in check and make your cardio routines intense intervals and i'm sure you will be just fine.

STS is not a system that will bulk individuals. Perhaps the oldest myth in weightlifting is that lifting heavy weights will cause females to bulk. Women just don’t naturally have enough testosterone in their bodies to develop huge massive muscles.

I can tell you from my our personal experience and from observing nearly a 1000 people each day using our health club in NJ for the last 25 years that heavy lifting only improves a women’s physique.

Building muscle takes a huge amount of effort with no room to do much else than focus on lifting hard and heavy and eating constantly to support muscle growth. It is just not that easy to build bulk even for a male....or for those who are predisposed to this genetically.

STS will enhance muscle definition, increase lean muscle density, reduce overall body fat, increase your metabolism, and improve your overall energy, health, and vitality. If you’re a female and want to look your best –YOU NEED TO LIFT HEAVY WEIGHTS!

We also hope you will continue to do your cardio along with STS as we like to promote a balanced approach to fitness. Regardless, there is not a huge difference between calories burned doing an intense cardio routine and doing a strength training STS workout.

"YOU NEED TO LIFT HEAVY WEIGHTS!"

Amen to that!!! I had a young 20 something in my Biology class ask me last night how I manage to stay trim. I said I struggled with weight just as she does, but to lift weight and to lift heavy!

Thanks for your response.

Just to clarify - I am not concerned about bulking up due to heavy weights. My question was about gaining body fat/weight from doing less cardio and the same amount of weights just structured differently. When I do one body part per day I do about 20 minutes per body part (legs about an hour) and then cardio 5 days per week. The STS system only does 3 days of cardio and roughly the same time doing weights.

Have you had any experience in dealing with people who have switched from a body part per day training system to a 3 day split? What results did they experience? Like everyone else, I am always looking for the most effective system in terms of results and minimal amounts of time working out.

Thanks.

Hi--I hope if you don't mind if I chime in.

I used to be a cardio junkie--every day and sometimes twice a day! Since using 4 Day-Split and now Slow & Heavy (3 days a week, with cardio once in between), I've seen my body really tone. I also swear my metabolism is on the rise, as if I eat a cookie here and there, I seem to burn it off from having more toned muscles. I hope that makes sense. Bottomline is that I have switched to S&H 3 days a week, with cardio the other 3 or 4 days, and I feel my body is much better for it.

have a great day,
Dawn

Oops. I forgot to say that one or two body parts each day is really working for me. On my next day--nonweights day--I actually can feel my muscles still working and I guess repairing. I'm really loving the split system--and looking forward to STS!
