Who is your favorite cooking show host?

One of the recent threads inspired this question.

My favorite cooking shows are on the "Create" channel. They are:
"Lydia's Family Table", "Christina Cooks", "Fast food my way" and "Americas Test Kitchen".

I like these shows more than the Food Network shows because they cook more and talk less. I don't know about you all (all yall's :), but when I'm watching a cooking show I do it because I want to learn how to prepare a certain meal not to kill time.

Sometimes I'll watch Rachel Ray but there are some things that annoy me a bit sometimes. I think she's not very handy with the knife and sometimes when she tastes the food at the end I feel like she is waiting till they call "cut" to spit it out.

I can't stand Emeril and Bobby Flay. The first one uses ingredients out of this world and the second is..... I just don't like him.

I like Paula Dean and Ina Garten.

I like the Food Network and do watch it just to kill time. My favs are

Racheal Ray- all her shows, her new show I only really like the cooking segement and fast forward through most of the other stuff.

I also like Robin Miller, Ellie Krieger, Sandra Lee, and Paula and Giada and Tyler because he is soooo cute.

Emeril and Bobby are okay. Sometimes enjoy Throwdown with Bobby Flay.

I don't like Ina Garten.

But like I said I can watch the channel all day.

MY favorite cooking show is the Food Network.
My favorite host are:
Giada, Tyler, Racheal,Paula, Dave Lieberman, Ina Garden, Michael Chiarello and Emeril. I like them all:D

I heart Rachael Ray's cooking but she can get a little over zealous at times.

Alton Brown is a kick. I also like Emeril and his guests. Paula Deen is good, too.

For some reason, Giada makes me want to scratch my eyes out. I like some of her dishes, but I can't stand watching her. Nor Sandra Lee. They both make me go GAH!

Ina's food always looks wonderful but her soft tone makes me want to go to sleep. Maybe it helps with the food coma.

I have six locks on my door all in a row. When I go out, I lock every other one. I figure no matter how long somebody stands there picking the locks, they are always locking three.

I love to watch Sandra Lee, and I don't understand why because I usually am jealous and a little contemptuous of women who look like Barbie. But I just love to watch Sandra, I think I fantasize that I am her...

Rachael is ok but she bugs me a little sometimes. I wish she would whisper sometimes instead of heartily shouting. But I do love to watch her $40 a day and weekend adventure shows, and DH has pointed out that she's doing a good thing for people because she shows people that they are able to travel alone (which scares people sometimes) and still have a good time and have great food.

I'm one of the only people in America who doesn't heart Emeril. AT ALL. His personality is way too strong for me although his food does look yummy.

Does anyone remember a show called TV Diners, where they would visit restaurants around the country? Nina Griscom and the Male Co-Host Du Jour. It was very entertaining.

Wish there were more cooking stars to watch - we need some fresh talent!

Good ole' Paula Deen is my fave. Although I do watch Sandra Dee in horrific fascination...Everything on her set matches, her clothes, table settings, kitchen, its unbelieveable, her recipes are usually pretty nasty looking--she does like a cocktail though doesn't she? Gotta love her for that...
I love the two guys that do the entertaining show, they tickle me, and although I do not like watching Giada's show, let me tell you what!
Her recipes are keepers, they just turn out so dang good, everytime. My friends and I joke about how pretty she is, but has a strange "popsicle" head--big head, little body....:p O'cmon, you all have noticed it too!! :7
Rachel just annoys me, too loud, her recipes take longer than 30 minutes to make, and that whole "evo" makes me nuts.
I love Nigella Bites, she is a beautiful, very sensual cook you love to watch...she just loves to eat and cook!
:)

AB on Good Eats is my fave too!

My husband and I use to be fans of Rachael Ray but went right off of her as soon as her mug started showing up on every TV show, magazine, and box of crackers within 10 miles.

Plus, the previous poster was correct - her recipes take way longer than 30 minutes to make. Plus if you check the ingredients, much of it is plain fattening.

I just watched Iron Chef on Sunday, it was just so amazing. The "secret ingredient" was mango -- what a show!

I don't watch cooking shows much but surprisingly my 3 kids love them. I like the 'Take Home Chef' guy, I think his name is Curtis, he's easy on the eyes, charming and SUCH a shameless flirt, oh yeah and he cooks good too:+ :9

Take Care
Laurie:)

Like Giada, Alton, Ina, and Rachel. I particulary like Ina...her recipes look sooooo good but are so fattening (mashed potatoes made with heavy cream---zoiks!) I've met Rachel on a number of occasions and she is much more subdued in person. She makes cooking accessible to the average Joe or Jane who is pressed for time and lacks Julia Child knowledge of cooking even if her tv persona is a bit grating.

Alton Brown is one of my all time Food Network faves but his show isn't on when I can watch:-( . I reserve a couple of hours on Saturday for Rachel Ray, Giada De Laurentiis, and Ina Garten. Of these three, Giada and Ina are my absolute favorites. I get a kick out of Rachel but many of her recipes don't work in reality, IMHO. I've cooked up several of Giada's and Ina's recipes and have never been disappointed. Giada is the only one of these women who is a trained chef and her recipes are easy and really delicious -- a nice take on real Italian cuisine.

I absolutely despise Rachel Ray. Not just for her phoniness(sp), but watching her show is like a lesson cross-contamination. I kind of think of her as the Denise Austin of cooking show hosts.

Alton Brown is my man. This dude knows food. His show is witty, and I love his sense of humor. Also, every recipe of his that I've ever tried has been absolutely spot on, as it's written. A lot of other recipes from other shows have required a fair amount of tweaking.

I also like Mario Batali. Again, because he really has a depth and breadth of knowledge about food, and because he's a purest about his ingredients - don't futz them up too much, let them speak for themselves.

ETA - Even though he's doesn't do cooking shows, I really dig Anthony Bourdain's shows, "A Cook's Tour" and "No Reservations".

ITA! I really used to like her and enjoyed her $40 a day - but the more I watched the more phony she seemed and DH and I think she seems drunk most of the time - way too giggly on those cocktail treats. Love Alton - he's just so odd and useful - and he believes in multi-tasking. I like Giada - who - BTW reminds me of Cathe.

Lorrie

I NEED a Cathe Roadtrip - BAD!!!!

Thanks Debbie! If you are around New York he has a roadside BBQ business. He is an awesome cook! Some VHS channel asked him for a tape to see if they could use it on TV, but they never said yes!
