What are you getting for Valentine's Day for your SO?

We have a strict policy of completely ignoring the whole Valentine's Day brouhaha. It makes life much more pleasant.;)

We almost broke up on valentines day one year .. and it seems every year since we fight .. so we have learned to downplay valentines day .. and usually "celebrate"}( .. somewhere therabouts the holiday .. LOL ..

DH idea of romance is sitting in a deer stand .. or on a creek bank somewhere .. always with an alterior motive }( }( }(

I will get him a card .. but that is about it ..

a couple of years ago he sent me flowers to work .. and I almost fainted .. then got ticked b/c I automaticallly thought he had done something he should not have b/c he never sent flowers .. LOL .. so yup . skipping it is much more pleasant!!!

I consider the Superbowl to be "Boy Valentine's Day" so he just gets the usually--;) --on February 14th! Oh..and a card.

RE: What are you getting for Valentine's Day for your S...

We usually go to a movie but...I just ordered $170.00 of Cathe DVD'S 7 to be exact. I guess you can say that I got exactly what I REALLY wanted. :D

I am giving DH the Homicide Life on the Street DVD megapack for our 14th wedding anniversary which happens to fall on Valentine's Day. I am so excited because he will be completely suprised! I am giddy!

Edited to add: Oh, and what Robin said too!

My SO has been wanting a money clip since before xmas and I got a really nice one with his name engraved on it for Valentine's.

He asked me weeks ago what I wanted and I didn't really have anything in mind. Then the next day I said maybe a spa gift certificate. He asked me over a week ago what my favorite flower was so I'm guessing I might have those coming.

I always think a special dinner and a small gift exchanged is a nice way of celebrating the day. Nothing over the top.

I wouldn't normally make a big deal of it but it is the the first Valentines Day we are together and he is going through some really tough times so I am wondering what to get him. I'm thinking maybe just a little note to tell him how much I appreciate having him in my life....and a nice smooch ;-)

Can't help you I only get my kids something

RE: What are you getting for Valentine's Day for your S...

Other than the usual--nudge nudge wink wink}( ;-) :* , we usually make a fancy dinner together. This year will be Julia Child's sea food crepes with wine and cheese sauce, salad and crusty bread followed by a creme fraiche chocolate cake (if I can find the recipe I lost grrrrr)otherwise chocolate mousse.

We don't buy each gifts for Valentine's day.

Maggie:)

DH and I don't actually celebrate V-day either, but the anniversary of our first date is the day before (the 13th), and since it's almost exactly 6 mos. from our wedding anniversary we celebrate it like we would a wedding anniversary. This year I got him a boxed set of one of his favorite music artists and the complete collection of the Far Side---yeah, he's such a boy :)

I know he got me music and "gourmet chocolates" his words (and they're vegan too:7 )---but I don't know what yet.

These are, of course, in addition to any celebrating we might do together;-)
