very flat feet - no arch

Hi everyone!

If others out there have no arch in their feet, what shoe do you use for your workouts? It seems that running shoes and cross trainers really hurt the bottom of my feet.

I'd gladly take any recommendations for a shoe that will work with my flat feet!

I appreciate it! Have a great day.

Hi Doria--I have the same problem. Running shoes usually work better for me than cross trainers. Avia & Adidas are the most comfortable for me.

Also, tear out the arch supports of your sneakers--they can cause serious cramping for us flat footers.

Ryka has a running shoe designed for flat feet. It's their KM7. They also have shoes designed for high arches.

I also have flat feet, and I didn't even know it! They aren't flat when there is no pressure on them, but they are when I stand.

Rather than specific shoes, I would suggest custome orthotics.
I just got some, and they do wonders! (along with a series of chiropractic adjustements I'm getting while I adapt to them). They are pricey (luckily for me, my insurance covers most of the cost), but definitely worth it, IMO.

All workout shoes have removable inserts that you can replace with orthotics, which makes every shoe a 'custom' shoe!

I have flat & very wide feet. I have had great luck with new balance shoes that are built on the SL2 last, meaning, wider through the arch region and roomier toe box.

I have the KM7 Ryka's and they are great. I also suggest getting some inserts for your shoes. Just go to any shoe store and they have them for flat feet! Good luck.

Hi Doria,

I'm sorry about the feet. My husband has a similar problem- one of his feet has almost no arch, and the other has no arch at all. We found this great shoe store called "The Walking Company" that sells all kinds of shoes, and many are specifically for these kinds of problems. The one we went to was in Delaware, and I don't know if they are national. I would look them up on the internet and see if there's a store in your area. They sell a range of products: sneakers, sandals, dressier options too. And none of their shoes look orthopedic!!! They also carry lots of shoe inserts that help with that too.

Sorry, didn't mean to be longwinded there,
cristina

I wear Asics Gel Evolutions running shoes for flat feet.

I also went to the docs and had precription running orthodics made. It makes all the difference.
