Time between meals and workouts

I'm wondering how long people wait before working out after a meal. (mainly dinner)???
I usually wait an hour, but was wondering if that was nec. if doing weight work only - being there's no jumping around required.

I don't normally wait that long when I do weights.LIke you said there is no jumping around.I normally wait a while before doing cardio though,unless its breakfast I will only wait 30-45 min.

Just to let you know, scientifically it takes much longer than that for your food to digest. As long as digestion is still occurring, there is blood being redirected to those ortgans involved. There is a conflict of interest. Your muscles want the blood to do their work while your gut wants the blood to do its work. Neither gets done too fficiently in these circumstances. Ideally, nothing should be digesting. I would say, ideally, you would want 2 hours to pass. It would probably allow you to feel your best. Just because there is no "jumping around" doesn't mean that it is best for your body, it is just best for you to not feel like you are going to be sick.

Or instead of waiting 2 hours, eat very light before the workout and then have the rest of your dinner after.
 
I usually wait at least 2 hours. Altho I eat every 3 hours. For weights, I eat immediately following the workout but for cardio I try to wait an hour.
