Surgery update!

I’m writing this from my hospital bed. My surgery yesterday was successful and it was a benign cystadenoma on my left ovary. It’s been under surveillance for 5 years but didn’t have a true diagnosis until after surgery. I’m now looking at a 6-8 week recovery and thankfully I’m not in pain but just uncomfortable because of swelling and tightness in my abdominal area. My doctor said I can ease back into exercise after 6 weeks and Pvolve will be where fitness begins for me. At the last minute, I changed my mind on LMR and have decided Pvolve is what I need during this season of my life. I’ll be trying to get back in shape and look for work at the same time, plus deal with a difficult household situation. Thank you all for your support!

I'm so glad to hear your surgery went well! I hope your recovery is quick!

One week post op update! I’m feeling better than I expected, I’ve taken two walks around the block, a shorter one yesterday, which is Luca’s normal morning walk and a longer one this afternoon, which is Luca’s regular afternoon route. My husband is walking Luca and I’ve followed along because he only takes her a short distance. Sorry Luca, you’ve got to wait a few more weeks!

I’m moving slowly and carefully. I set up some grab bars at the toilet, I have a chair with a pillow at the backrest and my husbands walker with a tray is the perfect height for eating.
Mesh hospital underwear is the best stuff ever!

A crazy bonus is my stomach is flatter than before, I guess because my uterus was so large due to fibroids and the 8-9 cm cyst on my ovary and I’ve lost 5 pounds too!

Thanks for giving us an update. so glad to hear your able to do short walks and most importantly that your feeling better.

I'm now 4 weeks post op tomorrow. I found out at my 2 week check up that the cyst on my left ovary was a 9 cm Mucinous Cystadenofibroma, which is a really rare type of benign ovarian cyst/tumor and the doctor doesn't know how I got one, except that ovaries can do weird things and most likely it was just a ovulation gone way wrong. And when I told her about being 5 pounds lighter and my stomach being flatter, she said that the weight of what all was taken out of me was almost that of a 16 week pregnancy because there was also one fibroid that was 7 cm. I still can't walk Luca, workout, vacuum or push a heavy grocery cart, but I'm moving easier, I'm walking 40 minutes a day and I can sleep on my side without feeling like my abdomen is being pulled on.

I see the doctor again on January 31 and was told to wait 2 more weeks after that before resuming heavy lifting and intense workouts. I'm certainly going to ease back into things, and Pvolve is where I'm going to start, but eventually I'll throw in a Cathe kickbox cardio and keep things a little more grounded and see how it goes.
