Super Sized?

I am sure this question has been posted before, but my searches have not turned up anything, so please forgive my repetitivity (is that a word? I don't think so!) I started incorporating weight days (ME, PLB, PUB) into my previously all cardio workout routine in mid-March. Since that time I have gained approximately 7-10 lbs, which number wise is to be expected because muscle weighs more than the dreaded phat, however, I don't fit into any of my clothes either! I have been counting calories and keeping a food journal to eliminate any sneaky poundage creeping in from "tastes and samples" but I am getting so frustrated as I try to squeeze into my clothes every day. Can anyone relate to this problem? I would like to think that the increased muscle is boosting my metabolism so I should be burning more calories overall, but after 3 months the needle on the scale is STILL climbing. Any feedback or suggestions would be very helpful, thanks!!!!

Hi,

I have gone through the weight gain that you are describing and it can be very discouraging. When I discussed this with my weight loss counselor she increased my p/c/f. Further investigations led me to the physique transformation e-book that explains that when the body becomes accostumed to the same intake of food, workout schedule, etc. the body holds on to the fat thinking its in starvation mode. Have you thought about increasing your p/c/f on a daily basis? It can be a protein shake/bar or something like that. I increased my intake as was suggested and that kicked up my metabolisim and the weight started coming off. To date, since July 2002 I have lost approximately 55#s and about 28 inches off my body. Presently I'm not lifting because of a minor setback with my back, but I did start my cardio last night and hopefully will be increasing my workout activity as indicated by my doctor and physical therapist. Hope this helps. BTW - visit www.physiquetransformation.com and register and download the free e-book. If not, I have it and would be more than happy to email it to you.

Take care,

Iris

Ditto what Iris says! The same thing happened to me. Only it took me nearly two years to figure out I wasn't eating enough, and my body thought it was starving. I dropped 7 pounds within a few days of boosting my calories WAY up (while watching fat/protein/carb percentages, sodium, sugar, etc. I've been losing steadily since.

Thanks ladies! I checked out the physique transformation website and printed the e-book for some lite (hee-hee) reading this weekend! I appreciate the advice, I knew I could count on y'all!! AJ, if you happen to read this post, my sis told me that you had some thoughts on temporary water retention as muscle mass increases? Thanks again!
