Something has got to give!

Hi Cathe,

I am desperate! I used to do one Cathe tape (or run) everyday 7 days a week. I have now increased my activity to 2 hours of exercise per day-everyday (have also incorporated light weights). Don't you think this increase would cause me to lose weight? I don't get it.....I look the exact same as when I was working out 1 hour a day. Just as an FYI-I am also low carbing it and am pretty careful about what I eat. I just want to lose 5-7 pounds.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!! Thank you so much!

Hi Pugsrule! I strongly feel that you are overtraining. Working out 7 days a week is hard enough on the body, but add two hours a day to that 7 days a week and its only a matter of time before somethings gives physically and/or mentally. You need to have at least one rest day, preferrably two with high levels of activity, for your body to recover. It is during the recovery that you gain your benefits and results. Also, you mention that you are eating a low carb diet on such an overactive fitness plan. This is honestly another set back in the making. Carbs fuel our brain and our workout. If your carb intake is not high enough to fuel your workouts, you will "hit the wall" in no time during your workouts and/or suffer from extreme fatigue, lethargy, and mental anguish. I can not stress enough how important it is to find a good balance between energy, rest, and fuel. If you improve in those areas, you will definitely be on your way to reaching your goals. Good luck and drink extra water too.

I am also in a standstill, but my weight loss goals are more like 20-30 pounds. I have already lost 63, but I am becoming a professional at the plateau!!! I am doing weightWatchers and took my food journal in to my counselor last week and she saw that I wan't eating enough food to lose weight. I know that sounds odd, but you really do need to "stoke the fire" to lose the weight.
Oh, I do 1 hr weights 3 days/wk, run 3-4 miles 2 days/wk and LowMax 1 day/wk. Because it's getting so hot here (Florida) I am changing my run to just 1 day and doing 2 days of Cathe cardio (just waiting for it to arrive in the mail). (By WW counting that's approx 40 activity points/week.)
Hope that you find what works for you.
