So you think you can dance....

Does anybody watch this show? I love Ivan and Allison. Did anybody see their performance? OMG...chills.....
I had to rewind and rewatch about 8 times. When I see a dance I like, I have to watch it over and over. (habit from childhood I can't break)
I also like Heidi.

I love this show--I tape it and watch it while I'm on my treadmill. My BF laughs at me for watching it. :)

Haven't watched last night's show, either--will watch it when I work out this morning. I loved the tango from last week (or was it the week before? I've lost track. Anyhow, that tango was incredible). I'm so-so on Heidi. I really love some of the things that she does; other stuff not so much. They're all incredible to watch at this point, though. So much talent.

OK, agreed on Alison and Ivan, I loved Martha and Travis also. What in the world did they put on Donyelle. Her dress was distracting. I think so much of this depends on routine. I wish Musa and Natalie and Dmitri and Ashley had Shane do their routines, because I did not like what Dan did and I always really like Shane's. If Alison and Ivan did Brian's routine, I don't think it would have come across like that because his routines are just plain wierd, but the fellow who did theirs was great. The dancers have to work with what they are given, and I really think sometimes it is just choreography.

I think Ryan will be gone this week. Too bad, because the kid is really good, but he is just not bringing the personality. Probably Ashley will go too. Too bad there will not be more partnering because Heidi and Dmitri would be interesting together.

Fun show. Unfortunately, I only get to watch snippets. I loved Benji last night. He was just fab.

I haven't watched regularly so I don't remember the couple names. I watched last night and really enjoyed it. I liked the couple that danced barefoot (I think they were the second couple to dance). They were my favorites of the night.

I've tried. But the show is 90% yapping, 10% dancing. I was really disappointed--I love seeing this talent but it seems to me all the show is about is talking, not dancing.

Ivan really stepped up this week. Didn't look like a 12-year-old boy at all (like he often does).

I think this week will be a hard decision. They all did well.

I like all the women, pretty much.

I'm not so hot on Dimitri or the shorter black guy.

Martha has a rockin' body. That back and those arms.

The guy with the big teeth (the last couple that danced), wasn't he the "prince of swing"? (his father being the "king of swing")?

How true.

And Shane seemed to be trying to be diplomatic about not liking the choreo that some couples were given.

I don't understand why some choreographers seem to just have the dancers walk around the stage, or have one of the two do so, since it doesn't showcase the dancers' talents, and may get them fewer votes. I think sometimes the choreographers are a bit too much into 'look at my wonderful creation' instead of 'look how I made this work for these dancers.'

I don't know if the 'same partners throughout the show' is really such a good idea. It does help them develop a better working relationship, but sometimes it can limit them.

Yes, I believe Benji is the East Coast Swing champion, or something like that, and his father was a swing champion before him.

I love this show, I am an ex dancer, so I just love the critiques, etc.

So many couples were done a disservice by the choreography this week, especially Benji and his partner. Allison is the best of the bunch, although I would love to see her perform a slow, more adagio type of routine, in contrast to that amazing speed and clarity she has. Benji is my favorite of the men, but Ivan showed some true instinct for line and movement last night. I was impressed with him for the first time in this competition.

Nigel is the best of the judges, I would have loved to have worked with him in his younger days, I think he is so perceptive!

I agree. His critiques are very valuable.
Though he's set up in the role of the token "nasty Brit," I don't find his comments that 'nasty' in general. (When he was really nasty once, comparing one dancer's performance to "The Corpse Bride," he apologized sincerely.

I agree about Nigel. I find that when there's something about a dance that bothers me but that I can't quite figure out, he usually puts his finger right on it.

I liked the Broadway Musical number this week. Dmitry is a great dancer but I somehow don't think he's as versatile as some of the other men. Hated the number that he did this week. But as a ballroom dancer..wow!

Definitely too much talking and not enough dancing on this show. Gotta love my DVR!

I am so bummed that Allison and Ivan will be separated. I want to see more of them together! I try to get my dh to watch with me, but he uses the excuse that all the men are gay. Then he procedes in playing video games. So, I tell him he is 12!

It is probably so that some of the male dancers are gay, but not all of them are. He just doesn't understand. I don't think Ivan is gay, but it is hard to tell. I can't look at somebody and decide their sexuality. Well, I take that back; sometimes it is simply obvious!

I get the chills evertime I see Allison and Ivan do that dance. They even said they get the chills when they do it. I thought that dance was amazing. I will probably save it on my tivo. Allison said it is the best dance she has ever done.

I found out it was Ashlee and Musa. I can't say I'm surprised. I read from a blog that there will be new pairings next week and what they will be dancing (don't know if it's accurate):

Travis/Heidi - Contemporary and Paso Doble
Ivan/Martha - Hip Hop and ?
Ryan/Allison - Contemporary and ?
Benji/Natalie - Jazz and Hip Hop
Dimitri/Donyelle - Salsa &

The next two I think should be eliminated are Natalie and Ryan. Natalie doesn't impress me all that much and Ryan is a great technician but has no personality. I love all the rest of them. It's going to be hard to choose after next week.

That is awesome. Thanks for the info. I agree on Natalie and Ryan for next week, but we shall see.....

I swear though, after watching Ivan and Allison, I wonder if there is something there:). Their chemistry and connection in that dance was unreal, breathtaking, amazing, etc.... It kind of made me say huh....is that REAL chemistry. Plus, they both said they get chills everytime they do that dance. What do you all think???

I totally agree. Ivan has really improved and he really has been able to do all styles, not just hip-hop. I think he has surprised us all. He's got a great personality and great chemistry with Allison. Too bad they're not being paired up anymore.

After their solo dances, I kind of hoped Dmitri would get the boot (though I agree with the judges that Musa is more limited). I'm kind of tired of his "male stripper" routines and him flashing his chest all the time. (While he was doing his solo, I thought he should get a job as a male stripper!).

I wish the female popper didn't go yet. I liked her!

It's getting harder and harder to decide who should go and who should stay. I think those that are left are the best of the bunch. Now that it's totally up to the audience, I wonder if the best choices will actually be made?
