to work hard at every workout, eat clean every day (almost) and just keep the engine of discipline going?

i'm trying to zero in on my discipline and how I can become better at it. :) love to hear your thoughts! :) -Tina

My only answer is THIS FORUM!!! hang around here and you will definitely get motivated and disciplined! this place was my only saving grace:D

When I first started working out about 3 years ago it was my sister in law who motivated me. Today it's my love for exercise! I never thought I'd say that but I really do LOVE to exercise now-a-days! I need a good kick in the butt to keep up with Cathe on occasion though and not get lazy and go back to my other (easier) work outs and that's where this forum comes in. The ladies here are great motivators!:)

I agree with Jess - this forum and especially the Summer Check-in I'm currently part of. Knowing that others are dutifully working out, encouraging me, and counting on me to do the same for them gives me that extra push (which is something I REALLY need, seeing as I think I'm a total shoo-in for Procrastinator of the Year) :D

Cleo

p.s. Wendy, how have your w/o's been going? Haven't seen you on the Summer Check-in thread??

Hey Cleo!

I must be missing the summer check in some how! x( I'll have to pay closer attention! Work outs are going good though. Did MIS the other day and had to take a rest day yesterday to recover from MAJOR DOMS! Today I did the step portion, upper body work and Abs from Body Max and may very well have some pretty intense DOMS tomorrow too! lol Hopefully I can pull out cardio tomorrow though as my legs shouldn't hurt atleast. :) Thanks for thinkin' of me!

Wendy,

We started posting a new thread w/ dates every day (Kali's been pretty good about starting the new thread up every AM) - that way the threads wouldn't get too long at a time.

HTH!
Cleo

p.s. I hear ya on those DOMS - PUB has been totally kicking my butt (could barely shampoo my hair!) }(

I have been working out for years. I have always enjoyed it, but never got the results I wanted.
Now that I have found Cathe & the girls in this forum, I see results, not only in my body but my attitude, my mood, all of it. I know I am among others "Just like Me" and it is so motivating.
I didn't want to do the "no sweets check in " cause I thought no way could I. It just dawned on my tonight I haven't had any sweets since Saturday!:7 It's just a great place to get motivated, disciplined, and just have some fun.:D

Hey Wendy! I like your new forum name...how fitting!

Fear of getting fat! My mother is a rather large woman and I'm scared to death I will end up that way...

Tammy

I just look around at others my age - I don't want to be like them! Plus I was a fat little kid & vow NEVER to be like that again!!

I've worked out since I was a teen & it would feel really strange to not continue to be physically fit.

Marla

I'd have to say that it's a bunch of different things:
-Force of habit, for one, at this point.
-Fear of getting fat, like my mom and sister
-The results I've gotten--being a smaller size than I was in high school and seeing muscle definition from Cathe
-Liking how I feel when I'm done exercising--it really gives me a great sense of accomplishment and also gives me energy after a day of sitting at the office
-Not liking how I feel when I don't work out! I get in a terrible grumpy and crabby mood.

For me:

(1) Vanity
(2) Fear of Body Fat
(3) Habit
(4) How great it makes me feel
(5) This forum
(6) I no longer desire to eat fries, chips, popcorn, etc. and the smell of hot dogs or grease makes me ill now.

Charlotte~~

1. Fear of gaining weight (I was severely obese my whole childhood)
2. it's a habit like getting dressed each day, how awesome it makes me feel when I'm done
3. how awesome I feel when I'm done - love the DOMS
4. my clothes fitting really well
5. seeing my definition
6. this forum, which has definitely kicked it up a notch!
7. how cruddy I feel when I overdo bad foods

and the list could go on and on....

Wow, what a great bunch of responses! These are all great reasons. Ya know, charlotte, the other night I "splurged" on buffalo chicken salad at ground round, the kind with fried chicken, and i actually did get sick! It just wasnt that good to me anymore, too greasy and too cheesy.

Tammy, fear is something I deal with to, because my mother is overweight. I should look at it as a motivator to live healthier instead of just letting it scare me!

Lastly, this forum is great. and I think when we all meet eachother in person, our bonds will be even stronger! so Thank you for your friendship :) :)

oh, wendy, your new name is very suiting! I hope you are enjoying your new mommyhood!

-Tina

Thanks Tina!

Oh I love being a mom! There is nothing like suggling with your baby and letting him fall asleep on your chest...it's awesome! :+

Wendy, I feel that way about my puppy. LOL

What keeps me motivated:

1. Fear of gaining weight
2. Pure, unadulterated vanity
3. Guilt - I have spent a ton of $$ on equipment and workouts (and cute clothes)
4. Afterwards, I feel awesome!

Cheers,
Marie
