Sleep

Hi again,

How much sleep do you need per night? I know it is an individual thing, but I am thinking I don't get enough. I can fall asleep anywhere and in 2 seconds and am tired all the time. Just wondering how much sleep you all get.....

I need around 9 hours of sleep a night and get around 7 on school nights, more on the weekends. I'm always tired!

8-9 hours per night. Except the times I wake up in the middle of the night and it'll take hours to get back to sleep. That happens once or twice a week. I usually feel pretty well-rested.

I've noticed a funny thing about my sleep needs. If I try to wake up before 6 a.m., I am doomed for the rest of the day... can't stay awake, prone to getting sick, sluggish, etc.... and it doesn't seem to matter how much sleep I did or didn't get the night before. I have tried to get myself on a early-morning schedule so many times. I even joined a master's swim team that meets at 5:45 a.m. It didn't matter that I dragged myself to practice every morning for six months, and went to bed really early in the evenings; my body NEVER got used to it.

That being said, if I get myself up by 6 every morning, I usually feel ready to go to bed around 10:00 at night, so I would say I need about 8 hours of sleep at night.

I actually get LESS sleep on weekends, because I really hate sleeping in, but I will usually stay up later in the evenings.

I go to bed about 9pm and I get out of bed at 5:30am. I fall asleep right away but I wake up about 1am and toss and turn, so I try to get 8 but am not sure really how much I am getting.

Generally speaking, I go to bed between 9:30 and 10:00 at night and sleep until 6am. I feel good doing that. I can go to bed as late as midnight and still be OKAY to get up at 6 but only for a day or 2 and then I need to get back to my regular schedule.

Alot. Last night I slept for 12 1/2 hours. Part of that, I think, is that I had Mono a year and a half ago and it may have lingering effects. But, if I do not get at least 9 or 10 hours I am hurting. Then there is a huge catch up session like last night.

I'm constantly fighting my natural tendency to stay up late at night, so I'm usually tired during the week. I usually do a sleep-a-thon on the weekends to make up the time. Really not the best arrangement. :(

OMG .. think I am the only one that does not sleep .. LOL

I go to bed around 10:30 or 11:00 ... usually takes me a good 30 min. to fall asleep .. get up around 12:00 or 1:00 .. again and always at 3:00 .. then takes a while to get back to sleep .. usually from 3 - 5:30 I am in and out of sleep .. up and down .. then I usually fall asleep HARD about 30 minutes b-4 the dang alarm goes off at 6:15 .. x(

Weekends .. same thing (in bed later).. but I usually manage to sleep till 7:30 or 8:00

gosh .. reading this .. sounds kinda horrible .. no wonder I am an ill pill sometimes!!x(

I don't really sleep a lot either....which is why I asked the question. I go to bed usually around 10 or so and get up at 3:00am to work out before going to work. This schedule used to work for me, but I am now becoming extremely exhausted. I feel like I can't keep my eyes opened! I really need to modify my schedule. But, I wanted to see what you all were getting to be sure I wasn't just being a baby!

Thank you all so much for your input!!

I would say 5 hours is definitely not enough. I frequently get 6 and that's not enough either. I think 8 is a good number.

Too tired to do the math...

I go to sleep at 9am get up at 1:30pm then I go back to sleep at 8pm and get up at 10:30pm during my work week. On my first day off I sleep about 3 hours after getting off work and force myself back to a "day" schedule, usually wind up staying up 28hrs or so when I switch back to work schedule.

I've been doing this for about 13 years.

I noticed that when I'm stressed, I do the get up in the middle of night, anywhere from 1-3am and then fall back asleep, but tired as heck during the day because I had interupted sleep. I wonder how I ever made it through two babies. When I'm not stressed, I can get by with a solid 7-8 hrs sleep, but definitely 8 is better for me. With 7, by the 3rd, 4th day, I'm exhausted.
