ROLFING

Hi,

Was wondering if anyone has tried Rolfing. I have had chronic leg/thigh pain for over a year and am considering trying this therapy. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I can't speak to your injury, but I tried rolfing a few years back and really enjoyed it. I did a 12 week series and I really became much more aware of my body and how all the pieces work together. My before and after pictures were stunning - I was taller, my shoulders were level and I stood very balanced. Give it a try!

Yes, there were sessions that were painful.... I seem to recall the ab area and buttock/hip area as the worst. The theory being that's where I "hold the tension". I did notice the best improvements in those areas so I guess it's worth the pain!

"Don't tell me that I ought to get ROLFed, cause I love Cajun martini's and playing afternoon golf"

Sorry, I couldn't help but interject a Jimmy Buffet lyric here. I didn't know people were getting rolfed anymore.

LOL Sherri! And I am too lazy to copy the link to you!
:D :p Ok Ok I am not really sure how to do it but I thought lazy sounded better!;-)

I am a registered Massage Therapist and was fortunate to have a teacher who was a 'Rolfer'. This method can have amazing results especially for people with musculoskeletal pain resulting from postural misalignment. The body is worked in 'blocks' and is logical and methodical. The body work is deep, lots of elbow and forearm work by the therapist but it can be surprisingly relaxing. For me even the painful stuff was more of a 'hurts so good'...you know...pain with a purpose :)

Take Care
Laurie
