raiding the halloween candy : (

Don't know if anyone has posted about this yet. But last night my DH and I went out to dinner, and you know how in restaurants they always give you a gigantic glass of wine? Well, feeling its effects, I came home and had twix, kit kats, and peanut m&ms from my DD's stash. I now feel totally contaminated this morning. Anyone care to join me for a "no-sugar" week? Yikes.

I'm there with you. I just threw away about 8 pounds of candy. I absolutely can not have any chocolate in the house. The kids even tried to hide it from me, but guess what, I sniffed it out anyway:9

It makes me sick to think about how much I ate. Most times I didn't even realize I had eaten it until I spsotted all the empty wrappers in the trash:eek:

I get like Carolyn...I get sick with myself! I decided to use that as my "tool" this year...remembering how sick and disgusted with myself has kept me away from even a taste this year! That is right, I am not to humble to brag that I have not had even a tiny taste of ANY candy this year! Here are some mental things that helped:

#1 I reminded myself how disgusted I get with myself after eating candy.
#2 I reminded myself that eating candy removes the "fit" feeling.
#3 I viewed the treats as though they had a scull and cross bones on them.
#4 Reminded myself that the candy is simply chemicals and toxins wrapped in pretty paper.
#5 I KNEW I WOULD BE THRILLED TO HAVE HAD NONE than just one.
#6 Knew that it was easier to keep the train parked than it would be to stop the train once it left the station.
#7 Reminded myself that I just work too hard, diet is 85% of it, why reverse any progress?
#8 Wanted to start the Holidays off on a solid foot...now the goal is to keep the momentum alive through New year! Why blow it at Thanksgiving when I can keep the streak alive and not fear the Holidays!

These are just a few...but it made all the difference! I have had none!! Don't want it!

I always want sugar anything. I just throw all the candy away and try not to keep tempting stuff around for too long. Plus I eat fruit, although I did munch some sweet and salty peanuts last night after a week of being good. We are only human, well except for Sarah!:7 You go girl with your iron steel discipline!

I think the more you beat yourself up about it the more temptation you will be struggling with. Why not make the candy disappear, dust yourself up, and get on with your day and save the sweets for a small tasty treat you really want?

Wow, we all are so hard on ourselves! I refuse to kill myself over having eaten some candy. Maybe it wasn't the best choice nutritionally, but you it tasted good and now it's done.

I have spent too long beating myself up over stuff like this. I agree with Beavs. Put this behind you. If you view candy as the enemy, of course you're going to end up bingeing on it! View it as a tasty treat that makes life more enjoyable. I have a little something every night--whether it's a scoop if ice cream, or one cookie, or one mini candy bar. This helps me stay balanced, in control (no bingeing) and most important....HAPPY!

The problem is, sugar is so addicting to me! It's very difficult for me to have "just a little." It's like once I start, it's tough to stop, so it's best not to start, you know?

Remember that potato chip commercial? You can't eat just one? (BTW, totally off topic, now that our little pomeranian has joined our mixed breed, I often joke that with these cute little poms, you just can't have one!! Teehee)

I'm with you. I tell myself I'll have ONE little piece of candy. When I come to myself again, I've eaten the entire bag and have a sugar hangover. I do much better if I just avoid it all together. I gathered up everything and gave it to DD14 who has much better control than I do.

Perhaps buying the 100 calorie packs will help. Or buy yourself a one time treat, such as a nice sliver of cake from the bakery and take it home---you eat it and its gone, no more sweets to binge on but you've allowed yourself a little treat. Or perhaps a sweet scent will do the job. I put on a spritz of a cotton candy body spray that takes the edge off a craving sometimes, believe it or not. Weird but it works...
