Question about barbell

Hi Cathe,

I am new to your videos and I notice you use a barbell in a lot of your videos. I don't own a barbell, but I do own dumbbells. Can I substitute dumbbells for the barbell?

Thanks Sharon:)

Hi Sharon! Sure you can substitute, however, eventually down the road you may want to purchase a barbell to challenge your muscles in new ways and stimulate additional progress. Have Fun!

:) Hi Cathe,

Thanks, for replying to my message. I have a question about purchasing a barbell. When buying a barbell what weight would you recommend? For example in your videos when you say 30lbs, do you mean the bar is 10 lbs and each plate is 10 lbs? I hope this isn't a stupid question, I don't know that much about barbells.

Thanks Sharon

Hi Sharon! It mean that the total weight including the bar itself is the weight that I say. Most sporting good stores will sell a barbell package that allows for the weight increases that I use in the workouts. Good Luck!

Just a note if you haven't bought one yet. The quick release can be very important when doing the DVD's so you don't have to pause to keep up with Cathe and her crew !

I bought one with the screw on caps at the end, tried to get a quick clamp but it was too small. Now I either stop the DVD or use dumbells instead.

Hope this helps. ;-)
