Quest for Cooking Experts on Rice Cooking

I just bought a Zojirushi Induction Rice cooker...holy cow..this thing can cook everything from perfect morning steel cut oats to beans, soups and main meals. You can set the timer the night before and it will have it ready when ever you want. Anyway...if I leave the butter out in the rice recipes (I don't do dairy) do you think I have to substitute it with something else? I only cooked white, sushi and brown rice in my old rice cooker and have never used a fancy cooker or tried anything fancy in the old one. Anyone have experience or ideas on this?

Robin - I sometimes use olive oil in rice if I want it a little more moist, but I never use butter. I think you'd be fine without anything, though.

I've never cooked rice with butter, oil, salt or any other additives and I love it that way. Doesn't effect the rice texture or the taste either.
