Prayers and good vibes and please remember....

Hi everyone,

I wanted to ask the gentle and generous folks of the forum for prayers and good vibes for my Mom who suffered a heart attack on Friday night.

She seems to be doing well now. It wasn't a dramatic event with actual cardiac arrest but she does have damage to the heart muscle. She'll be going to a different hospital tomorrow for a cardiac catheterization to determine the next steps.

I just wanted to remind everyone that women can really present with unusual symptoms and to be careful with yourselves and your loved ones.

Mom's symptoms were rapid heartrate and breathing, lower abdominal pain, and a numb upper lip. While these things say "something's wrong" they don't necessarily say "heart attack".

Please, go kiss your Moms if you can, listen to your bodies, and take care of yourselves and each other.

Thanks!

Suzanne I am glad to hear you Mom is doing well now. I will keep her in my thoughts and prayers...thank you also for the reminder, and keep us updated...

Suzanne, so sorry to hear about your mom. I hope she recovers quickly. You are so right. Women don't always have the typical crushing chest pain that's normally associated with a heart attack. We really need to be in touch with our bodies and the signals that it sends us!!

take care!

Suzanne,

All my best to your mom, and yes, thank you for sharing. Heart problems can be so different for women. As I have gotten older, I am very aware of the need to be aware of what is going on with all my bodyparts.Again, best wishes to your mom.

Suzanne, that's so scary! I'm glad your mom is doing better and hope she makes a speedy recovery. Thank you for taking the time to post--those symptoms sure didn't spell "heart attack" to me, but I'll absolutely keep them in mind for the future. Take care!

Chocolate IS the answer, regardless of the question.

Thanks for sharing, Suzanne! I had no idea those symptoms could mean heart attack. I'm sorry to hear about your Mom, but glad she seems to be doing well. Please keep us informed.

Suzanne,

Prayers to your mom and you. It is weird how the symptoms differ so much per person. With my mom she tought she was having gallbladder problems. Definitely was not the gallbladder. She ended up having triple bi-pass. She did not have the typical arm numbing symptoms that everyone talks about. Thanks for sharing this. I just saw on the TV the other night how heart disease is the #1 killer of women. We all think of cancer and remember to get our paps and mammos each year, but we need to make sure we are getting our cholestoral, blood pressure and heart checked too.

Wishing your mom a speedy recovery.

Jean

Thanks so much everyone! I visited her today and she is very chipper but we are all a bit nervous about what the catheterization will bring. She's not strong, and has been living with Parkinson's for a number of years now. The whole picture is very complicated.

I really appreciate all your thoughts and kind words.

I'll try to check in tomorrow and let you know how it all went.
