I really don't like doing squats. Can i still get a good leg workout just doing lunges? My main problem is my upper body that,s where i want to build up. I would like to know if ps for the upper body would be a good choice? I work with my husband doing the tape and bedding and my arms get pretty tired at times. I don't want to leave out the lower body, i like lunges more than squats.

I wouldn't recommend it. Lunges work the hamstrings and squats work the quads so if you sacrafice one you're going to end up with a muscle inbalance. This can lead to other problems, including knees. Can't answer the PS question - don't have it.

You really do need to include quad work to avoid muscular imbalance, which could potentially lead to injuries. If you don't like squats, you can do leg extensions. If you have access to a gym, they leg extension machines. Otherwise, you can use heavier ankle weights and do leg extensions while sitting in a chair.

Keep in mind though, squats are probably the single most effective lower body exercise because they work several muscles simultaneously (hamstrings, glutes, and quads). Unless squats are physically uncomfortable, I would suggest trying to grin and bear them! :)

When I first started doing squats they really bothered me; a trainer showed me how to do them using a workout ball between my back and a wall. That really helped me to get the form down, and to keep pressure off my knees. After a while I got strong enough to do them on my own.

I have Power Hour and love it. I think Cathe considers it a muscle endurance workout versus a strength building workout, but if haven't been lifting weights in a while it may work as both for you. Just my opinion - hope it helps.
