Cathlete
Good morning,

No workout yesterday. The play we saw yesterday was "The Crucible". We had seen the play before. it is Iabout the Salem witch trials...very depressing...we actually left during the intermission. I have enough depressing stuff going on, I didn't need to add to it.

Judy, that is a good idea that Chris suggested doing stuff around the condo during the weekend, if you are not able to take the time to travel. That would be the last thing John would suggest. :)

Valerie, some good ideas on how to use avocado. They are very healthy for you so eating them is good. I remember the workout where it looks like Cathe has added a "fall" to her hair. LOL.

Lori, I hope your delay ended and they found another plane for you.

Diane Sue, where did you find the free Jessica download? (walk abs one you mentioned). We always plan on multiple trips to the grocery store for Thanksgiving. There are things like rolls that you really can't purchase too early. Our microwave is almost 20 years old and it still going strong. I really don't want to have to find a replacement. It is built in, above the stove and I know we will be searching high and low for one that will fit that spot. :(.

Carolyn, nice workout...much more sedate than STS. How do you use avocado on top of soup?

My friend was moved to a regular room and has been improving. I hope they let her go home soon.

Take care,

Today is my rest day. I’m ready to get back to work after this recovery week! I have previewed three of the JS workouts starting with Metabolic Conditioning. I don’t see myself doing these workouts as a full program, but I will use them occasionally.

Deb, I am so glad that your friend is doing better. When I have something like taco soup or chili I just add my sliced or chopped avocado to the top as a garnish.

Judy, what do you think of the JS workouts that you have tried from the new series? I don’t blame you for opting to stay home for Thanksgiving instead of making a long drive and having to return right away. We often had the same situation and would chose to stay home. Now we are the destination location instead of the travelers.

Hello to Diane Sue, Valerie, and Lori. I hope everyone is having a good day.

good morning... we had a rude surprise this morning when DH went out to get the paper. Our locking mailbox had been crowbarred along with the people next to us. DH took a quick drive around the block. our entry gate was intact...when we saw the mailbox we thought maybe the gate had been forced. he saw at least 10 other boxes smashed. no idea if it was someone who piggy backed in behind a resident, or if this was an "inside job" by someone who lives here, or guests of someone who lives here. we heard fire crackers last evening, so most likely a drunken party . we will see if anything is found in the surveillance tapes. this has happened before but not for a long time. we've had this mailbox for probably 15 years. it was a very nice heavy duty one, and of course there was nothing in it. the locking boxes are >$100 and then there is taking down the old one and setting up the new one. all such pointless vandalism. people can be so disappointing. what kind of sick thinks destroying things is fun.

also disappointing was I made some bran muffins this morning that DH and I both liked. I expected them to be pretty decent point wise, but holy cow, they are 11 points each. unless I did the calculations wrong.

Deb, I agree with Carolyn.. a garnish of avocado is yummy on top of stew, soup, or chili. I like cilantro too. good your friend is showing improvement.

haven't done a workout yet today but will get to it after lunch.

Carolyn-I am very impressed with this series so far. Today I did Metabolic Conditioning and Add on Abs. I think my favorite DVD is going to be the 15 Minute Fixes. They are perfect as add ons or combined to make a longer workout.

Good evening ladies,

This morning was FT legs and glutes. I believe this does it for this rotation. I then did a cathe lower band workout that I made up a while ago, that is about 30 mins. My inlaws have dumbbells ranging from 1lb to 15lbs plus ankle weights. They added in a few since last year. Needless to say I was very happy. Between these and the bands I brought, I should be fine for the week. :)

Today we went to church then out to brunch. And tonight it is at my SIL’s for dinner. This is going to be a week of nonstop eating!

Deb...I can see why you left the play. So sad about the health issues in your friends family. How much more a can a family take? Very sad. So they were able to fix what was wrong with the plane and we boarded about 3.5 hours late. We made it safe and sound so that is what is important. So exhausting sitting around the airport though. Especially since we both were up at 3:45am. :(

Judy...so I received Jessica’s email yesterday. Not sure what the holdup was. I have not looked at the workouts yet but plan to as soon as I get home. Glad you like what you have done so far. How many 15 min workouts are there?

Carolyn...I may do a rotation using Jessica’s program while doing a SB or BBS rotation at the same time. I think this would be fun for me.

Valerie...that is terrible about your mailbox. What the heck???? Some losers trying to get their thrill at anothers expense. At the airport yesterday Bob and I both had egg white, cheddar and avacado breakfast sandwiches. They were delicious.

Hi to Carolyn!

did High reps, part of the legs and all the upper and abs. our internet connection was terrible today.
It seems the vandals were more "thorough"... our other neighbor had his box messed with too. they didn't destroy his box , but he can't get it open. I think more people will find bad news tomorrow when they try to get their mail. everyone has locking boxes because we had so much trouble with punks stealing mail long ago. so many worthwhile things to spend energy on, what makes people destroy things instead? ( rhetorical question)
Lori that sounds yummy. luckily you got where you wanted to go, a little late, but you got there! 3.5 hours sitting not knowing what will happen is miserable. so many times, they end up cancelling after all the waiting so you're lucky.

Today was my rest day. We had family brunch after church and I left the grandchildren with their parents. I have been busy since I got home. I made up pie crust yesterday for two pies and am going to roll them out and put them in the pans, but not bake them yet for the lemon pie. I want them crisp for Thanksgiving day. I will stick them in the freezer for now.

Deb, here is the link for the Jessica workout https://jessicasmith.fitness/?utm_s...344972181&mc_cid=cc8398bb2d&mc_eid=386c499924
It is a problem finding the right size built in appliance to fit spaces. My daughter has a built in microwave that quit. Her son bought her a counter top one and they use it. I imagine someday they will have to find one to install in the cabinet. I try not to use mine too much, but they are so easy to use for reheating. I have read somewhere that microwaving destroys nutrients. I sometimes thaw my soups enough to get them out of the container and put them in a saucepan. It depends on how hungry I am and how much time I have. I do not understand it being entertaining watching miserable depressing plays and shows. I prefer something uplifting or lighthearted if I want entertainment.

Carolyn, after the STS and recovery week I am sure you are looking forward to getting back to other workouts.

Judy, I would not want to make a long trip for a day or two. I am not one to enjoy travelling that much unless there are a lot of stops. If I go visit my brothers it is an 8 hour + drive. Not something I like to do in a short amount of time. My immediate family is all here so no problem with us getting together :)

Valerie, that is terrible that someone destroyed the locking mailboxes. I am gathering no one can climb over a fence or something to get into the neighborhood? That has to be extremely irritating.

Lori, the holidays seem to be a non-stop eating time. My husband is doing a secret Santa thing at work and some of the questions to fill in were what is your favorite flavors of candy and beverages. I told him I would not want someone giving me candy and sodas. I would probably ask for Kombucha tea and protein bars or something. We get enough sweets over the holidays and I fully plan on having some of the fruit pie and pecan pie on Thursday. I always feel like I look forward to the food on Thanksgiving , but by Christmas I am not really wanting to do it all over again. I am usually still eating Thanksgiving left over through that time period. I bet the flight and airport was tiring. I could never sleep on a plane or in an airport.

Deb, we had ( when house was built) a combo oven/ microwave wall unit. the micro died after a few years. we divided the space, "finished" it so we could put a countertop microwave in there, with a separate wall oven below. the micro has its own plug and storage on either side. It turned out nice. much more flexible. we did it ourselves, but it was not a hard project for a handyman to do. I am short and I absolutely did not want a micro over a cooktop area. I can't safely reach it, but it depends on how much counter space you have and how much you use the micro. I use it a lot.

Diane sue it is likely guests of someone who lives here and were here legally, but got drunk and behaved badly. it could have been someone who doesn't live here and drove in behind a resident coming thru the gate. piggybacking). the number of boxes destroyed looks like someone in a vehicle. it is several miles of walking for someone on foot.

Good morning,

Yesterday I did Live Repping in Rounds. 46 minutes, 290 calories. This was a bootcamp type workout, where you did cardio, then a DB upper, DB lower, then core. There are 6 rounds and its really tough.

Valerie, that's horrible about the mailboxes. Besides destruction...what do you think they were after? Were they trying to steal the mail too?

Lori, that's great that your in-laws stocked some DB's that you can use. Yes, this week can be rough eating wise, but it is so nice getting together with family, and eating together is a big part of it. I agree....sitting around an airport is exhausting, and stressful.

Diane Sue, thanks for the link. It looks like you have to sign up for her streaming to get the free download? I did that but could not find that workout. :(. None in the library seemed to be free. Good that you are getting a jump on making pies... I am glad I don't have to make pies for Thanksgiving...that is my SIL's forte so she brings them every year.

Hi to Carolyn & Judy...

Take care,

Deb, I did not have to pay for her streaming. I signed up for the purple player app and the free dvd was down loaded there. I was hesitant, thinking I might have to give cc info to do it, but I did not have to. I think it is a way to get you to try it and also see if the streaming works for you. I did get a password and log in that opened up the purple player app for me to Jessica Smiths download. Purple Player allows downloads that can be played without wifi.
The reason I never signed up for SB free month trial was because I would have had to give cc information and cancel after a month. I wont do that unless I am really wanting to stream someones workouts enough to sign up. So the sa,e goes for Jessica Smith.

Valerie, that would be a lot of mailboxes. I dont understand why people would do such things for fun or spite. What benefit is it to them? It is hateful!

This used to happen more often but kids finally grow up and move on. Punks used to drive by and knock the posts over, for fun. Lots of “stupid” after a night of drinking. people stealing mail are sneakier and don’t usually smash the boxes. they drive through, stopping at boxes looking for outgoing mail or delivered mail in unlocked boxes. we had mail stolen a few times long ago, until we got a locked box. so funny, when we first moved here, it was not a concern. times change.

We'll get our new box tuesday so we can stand out in the rain and re-mount it. looks wet all week so indoor workouts for me.
Deb, congrats on getting a workout in. I think some microwaves come with a 'trim kit" to give it the built in look. we've had too many microwaves die. I would never set one up in a place where it's difficult to move and replace.

I have a bit of shopping to do today and an eye appt mid day. just a routine exam but getting to the age of cataracts. seems like everyone is planning surgery, or recovering.

Today I did Kelly Coffey's Trim Down combined workouts, 58 minutes, 370 calories, heart rate 133 average, 170 max, 3,362 steps. I used 8's for the lights and 10's and 12's for the heavy weights. I like the way this one is fast paced and a metabolic type of workout. I then added on the Kelly Body Design Cardio light weight segment with the cool down, 15 minutes, 99 calories, heart rate average 122, max 138, 910 steps. Total time was 73 minutes and calories burned 469.

Valerie, putting a mailbox up in the rain does not sound like a pleasant experience. Will they make you go to a post office to pick up your mail?

the box is still OK enough for mail but not secure long term. by the time she gets to our house, she will have figured out from other houses that we got bashed over the weekend. it was a really nice heavy box with a clip for outgoing mail that worked for DVD's. the PO is only 5 miles away. if we have any packages, she drives down to our house. the box will ( did) hold big envelopes and small packages but not anymore. PUNKS!

Today I did Strong and Sweaty Bootcamp. Workout time was 49 minutes with 245 calories burned. Average heart rate was 113 and maximum heart rate 146. I really enjoyed the workout today. I had a hard time trying to decide what I would do this week, but decided to do the Strong and Sweaty workouts.

Lori, I like your idea of using the Jessica Smith workouts with something else. That’s probably how I will use them too.

Valerie, that mailbox vandalism is terrible and costly for the homeowners. I have always wondered why people do it. Many people here have bricks surrounding their mailboxes and vandals will work on knocking down the whole structure. It’s crazy!

Deb, good workout. It sounds similar to the Bootcamp that I did. Jessica Smith has many free exercises on jessicasmithtv.com that are organized by categories. You can access Ab exercises there without downloading.

Diane Sue, I remember that I liked Trim Down when I was using it a few years ago. I really need to work in more KCM to use what I have.

Cathe has a couple of interesting articles in her newsletter this week. The one on belly fat ties into what I have been reading lately. I like that she has research based articles in her newsletter.

Waves to Judy.

Today I did the upper and lower body workouts from Walk Strong 3. I liked them. They are fast paced and almost felt like metabolic workouts.

Deb-great job on the Live workout!

Diane Sue-I really don't like making a long trip just to spend a day or two either. We always end up spending more time travelling than we do visiting with family. The Thanksgiving that we drove to Indiana and back the same day was ridiculous.

Carolyn-I like Cathe's newsletters too. This week is a good one. I agree, her articles are well researched.

Valerie-at our condo we have a group of mailboxes, like these:
https://www.mailboxes.com/products/...edestal-16-a-size-doors-type-iii-usps-access/
I never thought about vandals doing anything to them but it's possible.

Lori-Great job with the FT Rotation! I agree with Carolyn, I like the idea of mixing Jessica's workouts with something else. I may do that too.

Good morning,

No workout yesterday.

Diane Sue, I could not find anything about a purple player on the JS site. I didn't get a password etc, will do that and see what happens. I agree with you...I am very hesitant about giving a CC just to look at something.

Valerie, Hope your eye exam was good. I remember hearing or reading about kids in the country driving by and hitting mailboxes with bats etc, as a form of entertainment. But these were the regular type of mailboxes on posts, not what it sounds like yours is.

Carolyn, I also like S&S Bootcamp...a great workout. Thanks for the info on JS TV....I keep forgetting about those.

Judy, are those mailboxes outside?

Hi to Lori

Take care,

Good morning ladies,

Quite day yesterday. The plan was to pick up bikes from my brother in laws amd use his truck to bring to the beach. Unfornutanely, the battery in truck died. So we now are biking today. We ended up staying home and watching movies and catching up with family stuff. Was a nice day. :).

Yesterdays workout was Cathe Live Travel Band workout plus I did the 15 min Jessica Smith’s workout Diane Sue sent the link to. I have this workout and brought it with me. I used 2.5 ankle weights and held 3lb weights to add intensity. I then did a 15min youtube called belly, buns and thighs. I liked this one too. They both were perfect as finishers. This one also worked great with ankle weights.

Judy...I am looking forward to reviewing the workouts. They were delivered after I left and I asked my son to PLEASE put them safely out of GiGi’s reach. She doesn’t normally miss behave but when we are away she gets really naughty!

Deb...I also have purpleplayer. I never use it and must have signed into it years ago. I went to to download the JS workout and once I figured out my password I discovered I had several workouts saved on it. I like you can download and use them off line. LekFit and BBS have this option and I wish Cathe and SB did also. Makes things easy when you travel. The repping workout did look tough!

Carolyn...I have combined rotations. Mainly doing one then loosely following another if this makes sense. When I do BBS and SB together they seem to work well. I like splitting my workouts in the morning and evening so it is so easy for me to work in all different workouts. I love Cathe’s weekly newsletter. Always very informative.

Diane Sue...agree I love you can use the workouts offline. As I mentioned above I wish Cathe and SB did this. SB just redid her website and I was hoping it had this option but it does not.

Valerie...that does not sound pleasant at all putting up the mailbox in the rain. Hope your eye appt goes well.

Not sure what the workout with be this morning. Thinking a Live Kickboxing.

Have a great day all!
