Good afternoon ladies!

I am waiting to go to the airport for my trip to DC. I did the KB "Providence" workout this morning...

Garance: you may want to break down and get this workout..it is more like weight lifting, than cardio..Lauren's is more cardio. It's about 45 minutes long, if you do the 14 rounds...the 15th is 2 or 3 minutes of "snatches" which I don;t like so I stop before that. The snatches are extra anyway. The 14th round is abs, so after that I consider myself done!

I hope you keep up the thread while I am gone.

Have a great day and start to a new week!

Deb:D

Hi Ladies:
No apple picking this weekend.DH had go to lake and winterize the RV.The owner there is letting us keep the RV there for the winter. It will make it so much easier next year.We won't have to bring it back and forth to lake:D
Deb: Please have a safe trip and relax at the Ritz.Between Garance,Josie and I ,we will keep the thread going.
Garance:Your DH is so sweet sending flowers to your office. That male ballet sounds like a blast.Glad you had fun.I'll be checking in tomorrow.
Josie:Glad you're still with us.Seems like alot of people start up but slowly drop out one by one:(
Have a great night~Linny~

Hi Deb, Garance and Linny,

I went to the gym on Saturday and did the machines for my legs and and took a spinning class. Sunday I only went spinning. I needed to up my cardio and decided to alternate doing the dunes and spinning. Today I did the PLB and will rest this evening.

Deb, Have a nice trip.

Garance and Linny have a great evening.

Josie

Hi Deb, Linny, and Josie--

This morning I did Lauren's Kettlebell workout (45 min.).

Deb, you are such an enabler! I went to Collage to look up Kelly Coffey-Meier and ended up buying three of her DVDs--the 30 minute one that you have, which I intend to combine with Leslie's new one, which has 5 30 minute walk routines, one of which I will attach to the Coffey-Meier. The other two looked good as well--Kick step-boxing and Cardio-Sculpt Fitness. I thought the clips and reviews looked good. Oh--and I also bought a new green band, since I shredded my last one.

So last night I had lemon sole with roasted root vegetables, a house salad, and yes! the butterscotch sundae with that incredible butterscotch. Also my Manhattan and a glass of white wine. I wasn't too full and I stayed away from the bread, and shared some of my sundae with my MIL, so I don't feel too bad.

Have a safe and lovely trip, Deb. Keep up the good work, Josie. Tonight I am baking that pie, Linny. DH is already drooling.

Hi Garance and Josie:
I bet Deb is lounging around and being waited on at the Ritz:rolleyes:Thats in between meetings of course.
I did all of Christy's Dance to be Fit today.Usually I only get to do 45-50minutes of it.I started my food journal today, boy does it make me more aware of all the crap I eat.
I hope your DH likes the apple crumb,Garance. My DH can't wait to get some apples and have his pie.I make my own crust,so it does take some time to make.
I still hoping to able to go to haunted house this coming weekend. But DH said he heard cold nights for the weekend:( I also bought Kelly's Kickboxing a few weeks ago,but haven't watched it yet.I did hear good things about it.At FitnessFly.com they have all of Christy Taylors dvds on sale.
Josie I wish I had your energy.I bet you have the body of a twenty year old:D
Have a good night ladies. I'm trying to decide if I want to make soft pumpkin cookies, yum.~Linny~

Hi Garance and Linny,

I'm getting fat just reading about what you are eating and planning on making. I will not be working out today. I don't want to get burnt out by doing to much.

Tomorrow I will be doing the PUB in the AM and maybe walking or spinning depending on what my cardio partner wants to do.

Linny, can you post your pumpking cookie recepie.

Have a great day ladies.

Josie

Hi Deb, Linny, and Josie--

This morning I did Kimberly Spreen's Kickbox Bootcamp (57 min.). I'm not a big fan of this one, but thought I would pull it out to try to get my money's worth. I put it away last fall when I hurt my knees and never went back to it.

Yep--made the apple crumb pie last night. DH had a piece when it was warm with some vanilla ice cream, and another piece this morning with his breakfast. He's 6 ft. tall and weighs about 160, so he has nothing to worry about. I had a sliver too last night with some ice cream. MMMMM! Tastes all crunchy and caramel-y. I had one bad experience making pie crust when I was in grad school (shoe leather consistency!) that has traumatized me, so I just bought a frozen pie crust, which made this confection so super-easy. Linny, tempt me again with that cookie recipe!

Tonight I am making a dish called apple harvest linguine with some squash as a side dish.

Okay--I'm predicting (drum roll, please!) that Brooke will win Dancing With the Stars. Loved her samba last night. Thought the judges were a bit unfair to Rocco, who will probably go this week, and once again, please get rid of Cloris!

Josie, you sound like an Iron Woman. I alternate weights with cardio and the occasional interval routine, but you seem to do everything everyday!

Deb, hope you are "puttin' on the Ritz"!

Hi Garance and Josie:
I wonder if Deb is geting spoiled at the Ritz;)
I got the pumpkin cookie recipe on a site. Go to www.verybestbaking.com and type in old fashioned soft pumpkin cookies.I made them once so far and my DH and DS loved them(me too).
Garance:I have that Kimberly Spreen dvd,I tried it once for a bit and said OMG I need to lose weight before I try that again.I saw a quick outtake of Brooke on DWTS and she looks great,I can't believe she has 4 kids.Seems like they are keeping Cloris in for some comedy relief. What is in your apple harvest linguine? I made chicken piccata and a asian salad tonight for dinner.I'm all about new recipes, like shaking up dinners.
Josie:Good to give that body a rest once in a while. We don't want you to have any more accidents and be out of commission.I have alot of yummy recipes at that verybestbaking.com site.
Well its about time for a nap before work(yawn).Good night ladies~Linny~

Hi Deb, Linny, and Josie--

This morning I did Gym Style Chest and Triceps (48 min.).

Apple Harvest Linguine, unfortunately, is sinfully rich, but DH loves it. You fry 6-8 slices of bacon, drain on paper towels and crumble. Leave about 1 Tbsp. of fat in pan, saute one red, two green apples, cored and sliced into 16 wedges each, remove apples when soft and a bit brown, saute one small onion, diced, then half of a frozen apple juice concentrate, 1 C. heavy cream, 1 C. chicken broth, some salt, pepper, and a good little handful of chives. Cook on medium until slightly thickened, then throw in 3/4 to 1 C. of grated cheddar cheese and melt. Toss with 1 lb. cooked linguine, the set aside bacon bits and apples. It was a prizewinning recipe years ago for Woman's Day mag. The second prize went to another one we love: Beer Brat pasta.

Absolutely gorgeous weather here. Maybe I worked some of the linguine off working on my garden clean-up (sure hope so!).

Boy I am really conflicted about tonight--should I watch another boring debate or the Project Runway finale?? I suspect they are in conflict.

Hi Ladies:
I'm sooo tired.I had to stay late at work today due to mandatory meeting.Yawn! I was hoping to get in some exercise today, but I don't have the strength.I need some Josie pills;)
Garance that apple harvest linguine sounds delish.I will definitely have to try it. I would like to see debate tonight but sleep is calling me.
Josie: Hope you didn't overdo when doing PUB yesterday.I'm still doing my food journal, not making any big changes this week.I will be looking over eating habits this weekend and try to make some healthy changes.
Hope you all have a good night.I think Deb should be back tomorrow.~Linny~

Hi Linny and Garance and Deb.

Today I will be doing some kind of cardio in the evening. I will need it by the end of today.

I have meetings all day and will need some distressing.

Linny, I usually do the whole PUB tape, I like this one and it goes by fast, the one that kicks my butt is the PLB. Regarding my food intake, it has been better this week, I have been making better choices, but I'm still far from having a 100% clean diet.

Garance, Which show did you wantch last night. I opted for Project Runway. I was not happy with the winner. I wanted Karto to win.

Have a great day ladies!

Josie

Hi Deb, Linny, and Josie--

This morning I did Cackle and Shriek (58 min.).

I watched Project Runway, Josie. I am such a news junkie (while I cook I have on MSNBC) that I know I will see all the interesting, controversial blurbs several times over while listening to the spin-pundits, so I decided to indulge and watch what I find really interesting. I liked all three of the collections, but I was pretty sure LeAnne would win. All those petals looked pretty difficult in terms of workmanship, and I loved the creamy color with the pale aqua.

Well, the weather turned ugly today. Sheets of rain coming down.

Tomorrow, finally, classes resume--first Mountain Day, then fall reading period, so I haven't been in class since last Wednesday. So, tomorrow it's Macbeth and "Tomorrow, and tomorrow and tomorrow/Creeps in this petty pace from day to day." Great play! Love Shakespeare!

Hi Deb,Garance and Josie:
One more night of work,Hooray!
Well that mandatory meeting I went to yesterday was all about our census being low.I spoke up and said maybe its because we are on the National watch list and people are afraid to come. The DON and administrator knew nothing about it and asked for the site that I found info on.This morning the DON called me into her office and said she didn't know if I was psychic or what but they recieved a letter yesterday that we are on the watch list.So state surveyors can come in any time now to check us out.The tension begins.
Josie:I don't think I've ever done the entire PUB or PLB in one sitting.Today I was pretty bad with my food choices.I came home late last few days and sit in front of computer to read emails before bed and do mindless eating:(
Garance:We had some rainy weather today too, good sleeping weather.Still hoping to go to haunted house this weekend, but weather doesn't seem to be going my way:( May have to go some other weekend.
Well its naptime.I thought Deb would be back today:confused:~Linny~

It's finally FRiday!

Good Morning!

I got back Wednesday evening...so much to do with work and all yesterday that I did not get a chance to get on here..no workout yesterday or today:(...I did use the treadmill at the hotel the 3 mornings I was there so I don;t feel to bad about it..It was a good trip, very productive...

Garance:
I know you like government...we were up on the hill meeting again with staffers from the Senate Finance committee and the House Ways and Means committee..lots going on in the imort world right now and we are trying to minimize the impact to the trade ( our clients)..Yes...I was "enabled" by someone on another thread that talked about the Kelly Coffey DVD's. I still haven;t tried it..a good plan to use a walking one with the 30 min weight workout..We had a really nice dinner for our anniversary last Sat night...I had crab legs and filet..with the crab legs already split, ready to eat...no crackers needed! ..I did watch Dancing at the hotel..I think you are right about Brooke...although the 2 young "kids" are getting better each week. I think it will be between the 3 of them at the end...yes Cloris has to go...NOW!..what was "Mountain Day" again?

Linny:
How are you feeling? No apple picking? Nice of the land owner to let you keep the RV at the lake. Good for you for doing the food journal...I can't start one because I am too ashamed of what I would have to write down..isn't that just the way? Your chicken dinner sounds healthy...I am going over to that site to get the cookie recipe! I hope the weather cooperates and you are able to go to the Haunted house this weekend..I have plans to continue the yard clean up..yuk..not fun....too bad about being on the National Watch listing...I guess that is from that incident back when the person died and there was an investigation? You would think the Powers That Be would know something like this was going to happen...you have to wonder..

Josie:
It sounds like you are getting back into the workout swing! Cudos for being able to do the whole PUB workout..I opt for the "up only" pre-mix when I am doing the complete upper body..when I use it for one body part at a time rotations, I do the whole pyramid for that particular body part.

Have a great day ladies and hope your weekend is fun too!

Deb

Welcome back, Deb! Hi Linny and Josie--

This morning I did the Gym Style BShBi (50 min.).

Mountain Day is always on a Friday in October, and Pres. Shapiro announces it early on that morning. It was last Friday because the weather looked perfect. The problem is that it coincided with Fall Reading Period, which was this M-W, and for some of our Jewish students it followed Yom Kippur, so they had a lot of time off. I feel like we had a spring break or something.

I should be getting my Kelly C-M DVDs today, along with the Leslie and the new green band. I had to use weights this morning instead of the band and it was really tough pulsing 15 side arm shoulder raises with 8-lb wts.

Sounds like your trip was lovely, Deb. I bet the Dh and the K's missed you. That meal sounds yummy. I love lobster, but I am always reluctant to order it in a restaurant because I make such a mess cracking the dang thing open and I like to suck out the shreds of meat from the legs at the end, so I make a real spectacle of myself. Rather eat it in the privacy of my own home.

Linny, so sorry you probably won't get out this weekend because it's supposed to really dip in the temperature. Can't you bundle up and wear long underwear??

I am o-ding on Coldeeze lozenges at the moment. I suspect a cold coming on, darn.

Hi Ladies,

I did PLB this mornign and it was hard, maybe it's because I had a hard week at work.
I did finish the whole thing though.

Tomorrow I will be doing the machines at the gym for my lower body and then taking the spinning class at 9:00 AM. Sunday I will be walking for 1 hour and then spinning.

Tonight I'm going to dinner and having one or two Manhattans, I need them.

Have a great weekend ladies.

Josie

Happy Saturday all!

Good Morning!

Well today is my official "rest" day, however I had one Thursday and FRiday too... Hopefully I will be back on track tomorrow.

Garance:
Let me know what you think of the Kelley Coffey workouts...

Josie:
YOu sound like you have had a stressful week, hopefully those manhattens will do the trick!;)

Linny:
I hope you are able to to the haunted house this weekend and have some fun!

Off to breakfast, the library and other mundane errands! I love Saturday!

Deb

Hi Deb, Linny, and Josie--

Today is my day off, but I cleaned house all morning. Not sure I will have time to preview one of my new Kelly C-Ms, but if I do, I will try one out tomorrow. I am still having trouble with my little toe. I thought it was on the mend, and then, as I walked back from class yesterday, a shooting pain. Ugh! I think my quick action with the Cold-eeze lozenges, though, has scared the cold away.

That's my girl, Josie--enjoy those Manhattans. What bourbon do you like? I like Maker's Mark, Knob Creek, and Jack Daniels--in that order.

A hard freeze last night. Everything was white all over when I got up this morning.

Because students "discovered" the espresso machine in the Faculty Lounge (where they are NOT supposed to go), we now have keys to use after 4:30 in the afternoon and on the weekends. Apparently the college had to do this because over one weekend, 200 cups of coffee were being drunk because of the open access to the machine and no faculty or staff telling students to stay out.

One more film for me to prepare for the seminar--Bertolucci's The Last Emperor. After that students will be doing presentations. Luuvely!
