Pentagenarians & Beyond: October 26, 2025

i had an odd issue from that barre work yesterday. one spot in one hip feels a burning coal. not muscle but something very unhappy. . its gotten better as the day went on so i skipped any cardio and did all therapy work and stacked upper body. i must have tweaked something that didnt like it.

Friday was a rest day, I was a little sore from the gym. Yesterday I did a 45-minute Peloton ride and 15 minutes of PT work. Today I did 45 minutes of Peloton easy recovery rides.

Diane Sue-Great job with CDorner Step and Weights, Gloved Up and Sweaty, and CDorner stretching.

Carolyn-Great job with STS 2.0 Mobility 1 and Jane Adams Yoga.

Valerie-Great job with the 30-minute spin, therapy work and stacked upper body.

Hi to Cathy

Today I did LiTE Cardio Party, 39 minutes, 302 calories burned, 141 average heart rate, and 203 maximum heart rate.

Valerie, I’m sorry that the barré workout caused you problems. Good job with Stacked Sets Upper Body and therapy exercises.

Judy, Judy, great job with the Peloton rides and PT work.

Hello to Diane Sue and Cathy.

did a yard walk today for a little over 30 minutes with tomorrow a longer park walk.. did all my therapy x3 today but finding i can only do one set of the bridges on the ball. more than 10 of those make my neck very unhappy. I'm going to discuss this on Wed if she wants me to continue these. i expect there will be other exercises added. the barre moves definitely caused an issue with my left hip. i had bursitis there once maybe 10 or so years ago. it is better i think, but not a workout i will repeat unless i did only upper body parts. it is definitely not a sore muscle. I really dont want any new joint problems.

Saturday I did CDorner Cardio 30 minutes, 213 calories, heart rate 144/162, 3,437 steps and a yoga stretch, 35 minutes, 76 calories. Sunday was a rest day and enjoying my grandson's stay. Today I did a full body workout with CDorner and she uses a stability for all of it with some dumbbells. I did not write down the moves. I used 10# and 8# dumbbells. This was from today, 48 minutes, but I had paused the watch and forgot to start it back up right away, so I got 39 minutes at 129 calories. I also tried the foam roller workout she did recently. She said some was exercises and some was rolling. Too much on my back as she did the whole back and rolled with her head way back. I prefer using the roller like Cathe does in the pilates workout. I added some stretches on my own. This was 21 minutes, 40 calories.
Total time today was 69 minutes, 169 calories.
I am sitting here and my dog lying here sleeping at midnight and I heard what sounded like an animal whining. Harvey heard it too. I just looked outside, and a young cat was crying on the patio. I hurried and shut the door so Harvey wouldn't run out the doggie door. I hope the cat leaves as we need to make a bedtime trip outside.

Today I did P 30 Perfect Pump Upper Body, 44 minutes, 129 calories burned, 106 average heart rate, and 137 maximum heart rate.

Valerie, nice job with the yard walk and therapy exercises.

Diane Sue, nice job with CDorner Cardio and yoga stretch, CDorner Full Body workout, and your own stretches.

I guess I forgot to post this.
Today I did CDorner Cardio Kickbox, 31 minutes, 205 calories, heart rate 136/163 and followed with her Full Body Stretch and Relax, 31 minutes, 61 calories. Total time 62 minutes, 266 calories.

Hi all! I got back yesterday. Had a really great time in NC. Multiple long hikes, and other things. When I told DH how long my drive home would be (note that I've done this drive multiple times), because he can't fathom driving that long he offered to pay for a hotel on the way home. I am certainly not averse to splitting the drive into 2 days, so I stayed a bit south of Cincy and got home yesterday afternoon.

This morning I did LMR Functional Total Body then I went to my parents. The zoo closed for the year on Sunday, but I'll still go down once a week until the weather gets bad.

Today I did the Live Kickbox Crush from last week and then STS 2 Total Body Stretch. My hamstrings and inner thighs are rather sore from yesterday. DH had to go up to Oscoda today for work and the drive alone, adding in picking up and dropping off a state vehicle, will be at least equal to his 8 hour work day, and with the site meeting added, he'll be racking up comp time and he'll be cranky! I OTOH have a day to do whatever I want. LOL

Monday was an unplanned rest day; we had family in from out of town and had a good visit. Yesterday I went for a 30-minute walk with my husband, did a 30-minute Peloton ride, 15 minutes of Peloton upper body and 10 minutes of stretching.

Carolyn-Great job with LiTE Cardio Party and P 30 Perfect Pump Upper Body.

Valerie-Great job with your yard walk and therapy work. I hope you get the hip issue resolved. I have to be careful with lower body barre work but I think mine is more a muscle issue.

Diane Sue-Great job with CDorner Cardio, yoga stretch, CDorner Full Body, Cardio Kickbox and Full Body Stretch.

Cathy-I’m glad you had a good trip. Great job with LMR Functional Total Body, Live Kickbox Crush and STS 2 Total Body Stretch. I had to look up Oscoda. That is a long drive.

we did our park walk yesterday along with therapy. unfortunately the hip issue is not gone. it developed within a few hours of the barre workout, not gradually over a long time, so think bursitis but it interferes with going uphill. im going to try to work around it and not irritate it hoping it will settle down. i had bursitis in this spot before.

cathy we do long distance drives pretty regularly but around 12 hours is our max . depends on other things too, like driving conditions. Ive known people who drive for 22 hours or something but it has to increase chances of doing something stupid or not reacting fast enough if some random thing goes wrong. im cant sleep sitting up in my car at a rest area so "naps" are not possible. . we would not plan a drive longer than 12 hours but sometimes things go wrong. usually in winter when mt passes get closed and the planned route gets changed or a big crash or avalanche blocks a route. we always have a back up bag and some food in the car with basics so we can motel it if we need to.

PT at the clinic this morning. i did well and have hopes this will be more manageable if i work at it. did well with the balances, something that used to be hard for me.

Today I did JS HiiT Walk, 30 minutes, 233 calories burned, average heart rate 140, and maximum heart rate 173. It’s been raining and cold for the last 3 days. It feels like January instead of October.

Diane Sue, great job with CDorner Cardio Kickbox and Full Body Stretch and Relax.

Cathy, I’m glad that you had a great time in NC. It was very thoughtful of your husband to pay for a hotel room for you. Great job with your workouts since returning.

Judy, what a nice surprise to have family visit. Great job with the Peloton rides, strength, and stretching.

Valerie, great job with the park walk and therapy.

Today I did CDorner Halloween basic step workout, 54 minutes, 329 calories, heart rate 130/164, 4,314 steps and finishing with a chair stretch of hers, 13 minutes(I cut off the warm up stretch portion because I was running out of time) 34 calories. Total time was 67 minutes, 363 calories.

Diane sue you had mentioned a few posts ago about getting rid of old medications. i dont know if all states have this service, but in WA we have a 'take-back program '. i think its usually pharmacies. they accept unused or outdated meds. its not good to flush or send to the landfill. ours is something like" "Washingtontake-back. org". you would just have to google for something similar in your state

we have a dry day so plan on riding this morning after it warms a little. the trail gets harder with piles of fallen leaves and branches. not sure if it has been swept off yet, which usually happens once during fall. impossible to see thru the deep wet leaves, hard to even see where the trail is. it was closed for brushing and mowing last week but the weekend was stormy and leaf drop gets messy.

ETA back from a shortened ride. another section of the trail was being mowed but the first part was done. they cut back a lot and cleared most of the leaves and debris. ended up with about 8.5 miles instead of 15 but it wasn't nice enough out to repeat the whole thing.

This morning I did LMR Functional Lower Body, no step premix. My time was 32 minutes,100 calories burned, average heart rate 103, and maximum heart rate 131.

Diane Sue, great job with CDorner Thanksgiving basic step and chair stretch.

Valerie, I’ve been trying to find out about that type of program in our area. I thought there would be a box in my drugstore, but there wasn’t. I just learned that only certain locations take back unused prescription drugs, but there is a location close to me. There are also boxes in police stations and the sheriff’s office.

Hello to Cathy and Judy.

Carolyn i would guess every state has a different program. find something close by. we just lost a whole lot of pharmacies here due to the loss of Rite Aid. I need to look for a place myself. it's like finding a store that accepts full sharps containers. not everyone.

ETA I looked up the take back program here since i havent used it in a long time. almost all the pharmacies participate as do the police stations. CVS does not as far as i can see. even costco rx does. extremely convenient.

did my therapy this morning. i did a lot of new things yesterday but am not sore. i felt like a serious athlete at the therapy placecompared to the rest of the people there. i think therapy is helping. Much is stretching but i don tcare as long as it helps.

Today I did CDorner Seated or Standing Arms, 25 minutes, 93 calories and Jessica Valant Scoliosis and Kyphosis workouts, 25 minutes, 54 calories. The kyphosis workout uses tubing for some upper back strengthening. I paid 20 dollars for the full 50 minute complete scoliosis workout that uses pilates and physical therapy moves. I downloaded it to my external drive. Now I can do it without advertising throughout. My knee hurts today so I chose something that left out my knees. Actually I missed timing 10 minutes of the arms workout so redid the first part for an accurate reading. Then again I am feeling the extra work. Total time 50 minutes, 147 calories.

Valerie, I will have to go online and check. The doctor keeps changing meds and the pharmacy keeps giving me 90 day supply which is the length of time between visits. I would never put them in the drain. They just sit up on a top shelf bucket. It seems there should be some place. I just hate having these lying around. I use CVS, but most meds I get at the arthritis facility pharmacy. It would be nice to have some place convenient. Nice work on yesterday's 8.5-mile ride and today's therapy. I am glad it seems to be working for you.

Carolyn, good job on LMR Functional Lower body minus the step portion today.

Shopped yesterday and today I did Live Met-Con Mash Up. It's a circuit style format, though a lot of the more heart rate raising moves used weights, than in the old typical circuit workouts.

Valerie I used to not going anything longer than driving up to Marquette which I can do in about 7 hours, if I don't do long stops. Then when COVID hit and Nick was on campus, he decided he didn't want to stay. He was still working in dining, but all food choices were cut down and take out, and classes were on line, so he decided he wanted to come home. I did not want to stay in a hotel, so I drove up and got him and came home. Then I was like, that actually wasn't too bad. My drives to see the boys are generally under 12 hours, but (and my sister feels free to make fun of me) I stop at least every 2 hours. If I don't drink all my water I get dehydrated and it's not pretty, so I'm fine with the trade off. Honestly, DH getting me the hotel was more about HIM not being able to even consider driving that long than me. I've made the drive to and from my sisters multiple times before, I guess I'd just never specifically told him how many hours it was. LOL It's great that the therapy is helping you. I'm sure you are in much better shape than most people they see.

Judy it's nice that you got to visit with family. DH actually made it home by around 6. I think his day was 2/3's driving 1/3 meeting, which is kind of crazy.

Diane Sue it's great that you were able to get and download the workout for your Scoliosis. Hopefully it'll be very helpful.
