Pentagenarians & Beyond: February 8, 2026

Today I did LMR2 Low Impact Cardio Fusion. I liked this one a lot, but felt it was about a round too short. I may mix it with something. Then I did LMR2 Total Body Metabolic Strength, which I had done before as I'm pretty sure it was one of the preorder bonuses, but they just show up in the apps as part of the series. This one is HARD for me. Mainly because my hands are too small to hold a dumbbell at both ends and lift it above my waist. So when doing front raises or triceps behind the head, I have to back off to 15's for safety. Heading to my parents in a bit.

Valerie I had to laugh at "DH acts as if we drive off the main road we will drive off the edge of the earth where there be dragons." That is so my husband. And heaven forbid you miss a turn or an exit, the world will surely end. I rarely ever make a long drive in unfamiliar places without at least one oops. Even with GPS because sometimes the cues are too late. Even when Derek is with me it has happened, and he'll be like - you should have turned there. LOL

Judy looking forward to hearing how you like the PHA workout, as I won't be doing that one for a bit.

Carolyn I hope you are surrounded by a good support system. Hugs.

Hi Diane Sue.

Yesterday, I did Lauren's Energizing Interval walking 24 minutes, 125 calories, heart rate 115/165 heart rate, 2,141 step and Power Pilates 35 minutes 88 calories. 59 minutes, 213 calories, 2,255 steps total. I used the pilates setting on my Garmin and I bet the calorie burn would have been more just using cardio. No workout today. I have a busy week next week. We have a house showing today. This is their second visit.

omg Cathy, they are so similar! DH and I grew up with maps but i do pretty well with phone apps now. road cues in "developed' are not always exactly right and side roads? those little apps may not even have that road visible without zooming way up and then you cant see if they go where you think you want to get to. . this was not a marked detour! somehow, I always get back home or to the hotel. its not like you'll be thrown into a bottomless pit ( dragons again) if you miss a turn and have to backtrack a little. sigh....men!!

we walked the same park again this morning. an hr 20 minutes. did one set of stretches and will do another later. I'm kind of missing that I didnt get this set of workouts but I have several already that work for me.

diane sue thats good news for an offer if they are back for a second look.

My DVD's were supposed to arrive Saturday, got marked delivered, but were not in the box. Then yesterday I got a notice that they would come today. So, the delivery person, scanned them as delivered and then didn't put them in the box! Crazy. This morning I did the LMR2 Mobility workout. I think maybe my expectations were too high. It's long and thorough, but it didn't challenge me. I realize I'm more flexible than the average person, but was just hoping for something more. And a couple parts were for me repetitive and boring, but then that's how I feel about the sun salutation in some of the early workouts. I'll try the flexibility one in a few days and may consider doing a mix of the two workouts.

Valerie people in the upper peninsula lists tell people planning to sight see up there to not trust GPS if they are going off main roads. You can end up going down a two track that dead ends and if you are in anything bigger than a car may not be able to turn around. Back in the 80's my boyfriend and I went up to Cooper Harbor in his small Mazda. And he decided we should drive out toward the end of the peninsula. Holes so deep in the road that my head almost hit the ceiling with my seat belt on, drove across a bridge that was one plank under each side of the car, that was over a small river that was moving along pretty good. Finally came to an area with a LOT of water of the road and convinced him to turn around. LOL But, we did see a turtle laying eggs in the middle of the road and a black bear with two cubs. I had visions of us being stuck out there overnight with no food or water, and since then I have rarely ever gone anywhere without both in the car. I'll even take my water if I'm just running in town to the bank and only going to be gone 20-25 minutes!

Diane Sue a second showing sounds promising. I hope they make an offer.

It wasnt that long ago when we were driving to MT and got a bad set of directions. I was looking at mileages to give some friends directions to get to our house, and up popped directions to get off the interstate and take "Trail creek road" as a shorter route. not open in winter. the rest of the year is a pot- holed gravel road that might be shorter miles but way longer in time. it never happened again. i reported it as incorrect. too many similar road names is sometimes the issue. too many Big Creek, Trail Creek, blue lake, moose lake, etc. we still use road atlases, forest service maps where GPS is unreliable. water, snack food, hat, gloves, shovel stashed in with the jack. new cars sometimes dont have a jack and act like you can use that Run Flat spray or call AAA everywhere. no, neither works everywhere. theres a story every year about someone blindly following GPS and driving off into deep snow and getting stuck. I love gPS in the city but not so much in rural areas.

im happy to say the home team won and we got some fireworks after but not bad at all.

Yesterday was a rest day. Today I did LMR2 PHA Cardio Fusion. I really liked it. It’s definitely more of a cardio-metabolic workout and it went very fast. It felt like a very efficient workout at only 35 minutes, which includes a bonus core session and stretch after the main workout. I can see doing this one regularly, especially on days when I am short on time. I can also see combining it with another workout since it is short.

Cathy-Great job with LMR2 Low Impact Cardio Fusion, LMR2 Total Body Metabolic Strength and LMR2 Mobility. My DVDs are arriving on Thursday, hopefully.

Diane Sue-Great job with Lauren's Energizing Interval walking and Power Pilates. I hope you have good luck with selling your house.

Valerie-Great job with your walk and stretches.

Carolyn- Sending you hugs and prayers

Today I did CDorner Vertical Step #519, 204 calories, 31 minutes, heartrate 136/164, 3005 steps. I finished with Lauren's superset arms 15 minutes, 82 calories, heart rate 112/129. Total time was 46 minutes, 286 calories. My dvds did not arrive today. They will probably be here tomorrow since they were in MO this morning.

Cathy, I have had the post office have things scanned and they do not show up till the next day.

Today I did the LMR2 Elevated Upper Body. 5-15's and I managed to do it, but it was tough. Lots of new combos move. This series is definitely serious about the balance portion. I find it interesting that Cathe is the one doing the alternative moves in these workouts. And the recommended weights often include a range of 2-3 weight options. It definitely kept my heart rate up. First section is a long warmup with the tubing, I use a band, since I find the tubing is too long for me to use effectively. Then a standing portion and then quite a bit on the floor.

Diane Sue, I've just never had them actually state it was put in the mailbox and it wasn't. I do think these workouts took longer to arrive than previous series.

Judy thanks for the review of the PHA. I think I'll try lower body tomorrow and then if I have time before shopping Thursday the Flexibility/Core one.

Valerie I agree GPS is much better for Highway/City driving. Most rural driving here it's fine, but get anywhere that's not a main road up north and all bets are off.

I ended up just walking our yard yesterday, up and down hill for 35 minutes. its a decent workout. also therapy x2. we will probably ride today after it warms a little. too close to freezing now.

i am finding myself getting burned out on a lot of things all at once. I re blocked my sisters phone calls. they go automatically to vm. our cousin and myself are the only ones dealing with her at all and she is settling in against our strong recommendations and staying in her house despite us both telling her we were not supporting her any more. she can buy for her own appliances and property taxes and complain about everything endlessly.
our recording of the Olympics on utube didn't work well unless it shows up tonight. sports are very difficult to do and require great skill and long training, i dont want to minimize what people accomplish, but they are incredibly boring to watch. ice skating is usually good but not what we saw.

i made a new recipe for dinner last night that sounded good and was more fuss than usual but turned out completely disappointing. all the flavor i expected was not there. Blech, suddenly i felt like I was done, and need a chunk of time off cooking 2 "involved" meals a day. I tossed the leftovers. pizza tonight.
I think the GPS companies rely on input from actual drivers and the more rural the area, the less likely anyone submits corrections. I dont know if that even happens anymore but it used to.

This morning I did LMR2 Elevated Lower Body. Recommended weights are given in ranges, so I had to play with things this first time through. I will say I was relieved to find that the sumo squats with heel click, were just touches on the floor. LOL I sounds far more intimidating. I found this workout pretty challenging. I'll try the Flexibility/Core one tomorrow if I get up early.

Valerie I've been watching some of the Olympics. I got Peacock, plus I have NBC and USA through my YouTube TV. Not fond of how much I have to search down where to watch things. And with the skating, they'll have some of the skaters on one channel and then you have to switch to something else to watch the rest of it. As bad as the major sports making people get 3-4 streaming services if they want to watch all their teams game. At least some of them are now rebelling against that and trying to get things back to only 1-2 places. So many people complaining, and losing their followers. But those sports have months long seasons and the Olympics doesn't, so they will likely continue to spread things out. I've been watching things live during the day, as I don't want to tie myself down to watching at night since I go to bed early.

Cathy that is right about the olympics. DH is pretty good at this and by the time we get it figured out it will be over. we did get the mens short program figure skating. a little bit of the xc skiing which is not all that great to watch. the Norwegian guy runs away from the field and wins, game over. we missed all the downhill skiing and still havent found it. definitely dont need to watch everything but want to see the more publicized events. I am totally stupid about how the remote works with this newer television set up.
we only watch recorded events to avoid the commercials and the interviews.

yesterday we mt biked for an hour and a half, today we walked the park for an hour and 10 minutes. i need a day off.

This morning I did LMR2 Dynamic Flexibility and Core. I think this will be my least used of the workouts. Really just didn't do it for me. I still have PHA and Barre to do and I think the TB one. I downloaded the Users Guide, and I think I'm going to tweak the LMR2/STS2 rotation. Another nice day, hovering just below freezing and sunny. We are going to start about 6 days of 40's to 50! Yay

Valerie as far as I can tell the Olympics are on Peacock, NBC and USA. I look up the schedule in the morning to see what I want to watch.

Yesterday I did a 30 minute Peloton Upper Body workout, 50 minutes of easy Peloton rides and some stretching. Today I did 25 minutes of Peloton rides and a 60 minute Restorative Yoga class.

Diane Sue-Great job with CDorner Vertical Step and Lauren's superset arms.

Cathy-Great job with the LMR2 Elevated workouts. The LMR2/STS2 rotations looks like a good one. I’m going to be trying more of the LMR2 workouts over the next week or so. I previewed the Barre one and it looks really good. It will be very nice to have warmer temps next week.

Valerie-Great job with your walks, biking and therapy work.

Hello to Carolyn, we are thinking of you

I didnt formally exercise today but it was a busy one. the deck people were back and did most of the part of the project that had to be done in dry warmish weather. they will be back tomorrow. DH has been having a back/neck problem for a few weeks and decided to order a new mattress. the old one seemed to be sagging and was 15 ish years old. hopefully this helps. I had planned a costco run and had to get some paint for deck at Lowes. i started out and hadn't gone 1/4 mile and the tire light went on. since i was so close i went back home to check it. it had a nail in it. great. going back was the right choice though. i switched to our truck, which i seldom drive. its a Ford 350 long bed we use for our camper and big projects. did my errands and shopping, took my tire to the Les Schwab, local chain of stores that fix tires. so in the middle of this the mattress arrived. we have this steep narrow driveway and all the contractor's vehicles and all 3 of our vehicles, plus the mattress truck all competing for space. it was some tricky backing in and out of there!

Carolyn, I will join Judy. i hope all is going as well as you can hope for and that your family is helping. Hugs to you.

Today I did the LMR2 Fusion workout, which I liked and the Restorative Yoga. DH is going down by Detroit tomorrow to help his brother with a record show, so I'll be able to steam mop all the upstairs floors. Supposed to be around 50 Monday, so I think I'm going to go to the other local zoo in Lansing. Haven't been there since Derek moved over a year ago. But it'll be a cheap way to walk since the winter rate is $3 no parking with my reciprocal membership.

Valerie that's a real pain about the tire. I hope the new mattress works well for you.

Judy I'm torn between just doing the Total Body workout tomorrow and starting the rotation on Sunday, or also doing the Barre workout and starting Monday. But that with today, would be 3 days in a row involving lower body, so I'll have to think about it some more. Neither of those workouts come up in the LMR2/STS2 rotation for a couple weeks.

Today I did LMR Elevated Kickbox Fusion, 43 minutes, 224 calories, heart rate 113/142, 2,694 steps.
This is fun. There is some impact, but options to not do the impact moves. I also did Elevate, Mobility timesaver #1 27 minutes, 119 calories, 107/147. Total time was 70 minutes, 343 calories. Yesterday I did not do a workout since I had a doctor appointment and came back and started in packing.
Wednesday, I did Elevate PHA Fusion, 36 minutes, 167 calories, heart rate 108/137 and Elevate Cardio Fusion Mix #2 cardio with weights done at the end, 31 minutes, 187 calories, heart rate 124/145. I am not a fan of the band on the floor. I always end up kicking the band somewhere. I finally just did it without the band. I used to use the lines on the puzzle mats instead. I have the mats and a lot of equipment put up.
We already have a buyer, so I have to hurry and finish getting things packed up and out of here. Next week is inspection. I am tired and will be glad when things are settled.

No workout today. Woke up at 3:30 and didn't go back to sleep, but DH was gone so I did get some cleaning done. Took me about an hour, but I set up a 2 month rotation based on the LMR2/STS rotation. Just added in some things. Kept all the workouts from the rotation, except the Flexibility one! and added in extra cardio, core and stretching. I've walked a couple times as it's in the upper 40's, but it's that fun soft, melting snow so every time you step you have no idea, if you'll stay on top, or if you sink how far, and bonus for the occasional icy step. There's footprints on all the paths, so what's underneath isn't more than 1-2" but it throws you back and forth at times.

Diane Sue, I never use the band or any other marker on the floor. It's just a pain to me. Yay on the buyer, I hope everything progresses smoothly.

just therapy for 2 days. going to montana tomorrow. probably for a week. still no serious snow so we hope we can walk a little but will decide whats possible when we get there. the park probably has a little more snow but they have not had enough to groom all season. with all the animals the snow must be very chopped up and messy.

diane sue thats terrific your house is likely to sell so quickly.

Today I did Elevate Upper Body premix no planks 41 min (took me 48 writing notes out and a phone call), 159 calories, heart rate 92/126. These are not rushed moves. I did like the pace of it. I think next time I will try all standing. My wrists and hands have been really bothering me. I finished off with Elevate Mobility premix anytime mobility, 13 minutes, 64 calories. I had a lot to do today. We took a load to storage and I made German chocolate cake and enchiladas for tomorrows family get together and birthdays.
