Pentagenarians & Beyond: August 10, 2025

This morning I did Live Kickbox Cardio Crush. Not a fan of the workouts that have compound weight exercises in the middle, so I did extra cardio drills instead. Then I did Pyramid Pump Upper Body. Nick is at the airport. Have a few more things to do before I go get him.

Yesterday I did CDorner Step Latin Flare 32minutes, calories and heart rate were off because I accidentally push yoga and the Garmin gave me low heart rate and burn till the last 11 minutes when I stopped and hit cardio. Anyway, calories according to both added together was 142. It makes no sense that heart rate would be so much different for yoga when doing cardio. I finished off with LITE Pyramid Pump Triceps and Biceps with warm up and stretch, 19 minutes, 110 calories, heart rate 122/150. The pyramid superset body parts do not take long, and I get in some decent weights. Total time 51 minutes, calories? Steps 3,615. My neck and upper back really hurt all night. I hope it gets better.

Cathy, nice work on Live Kickbox Cardio Crush and Pyramid Pump Upper Body.

Today I did my weekly yoga/mobility for 18 minutes. My middle daughter, her husband, and son are here for another short weekend visit. Granddaughter didn’t come because it’s her first weekend in her dorm at her new school. She is attending the state’s school for math and science, a residential program, for her last two years of high school. They are all gearing up for the new academic year, so this is a very short trip.

Diane, nice job with CDorner Low Impact Aerobics and LMR cardio. My knee is still bothering me a bit and I’m careful with cross back lunges.

Cathy, great job with Live Cardio Core Express, STS Total Body Stretch, LMR Low Impact Cardio, and Bun Burners Barre and Ball.

Valerie, your intense dislike for monkeys is interesting.

Hello to Judy.

Today I did a 45-minute Peloton Full Body Strength workout. The half bath remodel is finally done. The contractors finished all of their work on Friday and we are very happy with it. Our new bedroom furniture is being delivered on Thursday. Hopefully we will be done with remodeling and house projects for a while.

Cathy-Great job with Live Kickbox Cardio Crush and Pyramid Pump Upper Body. I agree, I don’t like having weights in the middle of a cardio workout. That’s why I don’t care for the Peloton boot camp classes.

Diane Sue-Great job with CDorner Step Latin Flare 3 and LITE Pyramid Pump Triceps and Biceps with warm up and stretch. I’m sorry about your neck and upper back. I hope you feel better today.

Carolyn-Great job with your yoga/mobility workout. That’s nice that you have family visiting this weekend. I’m sure they are very busy getting ready for the academic year. I can’t believe how fast this summer is going.

Hi to Valerie

Didn't sleep well, and I have had slight headache since late last night. I really think it's because I didn't eat enough yesterday. Now, it was a rare day when I actually ate the number of calories that Cronometer thinks I should eat, but that's too low for me. So, this morning Iate my regular breakfast which is about 550 calories and normally gets me to lunch time with no problem. Today, I was still hungry. Ended up eating 3 dates, still hungry. Hoping to make it another 45 minutes, but wow, haven't been this hungry in a long time. Had my normal amount of water yesterday and so far I've had about 1 1/2 quarts today. I really don't think I caught what DH has because it just doesn't have that feel. It's been a long time since I've had a hunger headache, but the only time I get headaches is from lack of food or water. I did end up doing Killer Legs Barre. Looked at the 2nd heavy weight LMR2 that's now available On Demand, and wow not kidding about the heavy weights. If at some point I do it, I will not be going that heavy.

Carolyn enjoy your visitors.

Judy that's great that your remodeling is wrapping up.

Diane Sue, I've always wondered, big picture why it mattered what workout you put in a fitness watch, because heart rate should be the primary decider.

Hi Valerie.

This morning I did Rev’d Up Rumble, 41 minutes, 290 calories, average heart rate 135, maximum heart rate 177. Family left this morning so it’s quiet around here.

Judy, nice job with the Peloton Full Body strength workout. It’s great that your remodeling projects are coming to completion.

Cathy, good job with Killer Legs Barre. I can get a headache from skipping meals. It’s a balancing act between eating enough food but not overeating. And feeling satisfied with what you’re eating.

Hello to Diane Sue and Valerie.

Today I went for a 20-minute walk outside and did about an hour of very easy Peloton rides. I woke up with a headache and didn’t feel like doing much until later in the morning.

Cathy-I didn’t eat that much yesterday or the day before either so that might have contributed to my headache. I usually get headaches from being dehydrated or from sinus/allergy issues.

Carolyn-Great job with Rev’d Up Rumble.

Hi to Diane Sue & Valerie

Today I did RWH Chest, Triceps, and Shoulders, 2 sets no finishers. My time was 32 minutes with 85 calories burned, average heart rate 204, and maximum heart rate 130.

Judy, I’m sorry that you woke up with a headache. I wonder if the air quality had anything to do with it. Nice job with your walk outside, and easy Peloton ride.

Hello to Cathy, Diane Sue, and Valerie.

Valerie, I hope that your health issues are resolved soon.

Today I did KCM’s Cardio Quick Fix workout one. That was 26 minutes, 169 calories burned, average heart rate 124, and maximum heart rate 157.

Today I did RWH Back, Biceps, and Shoulders, one set no finishers. That was 27 minutes, 66 calories burned, average heart rate 100, and maximum heart rate 126.

This morning I did RWH Legs, all strength. That was 32 minutes, 108 calories burned, average heart rate 106, and maximum heart rate 139.

Have a wonderful day.

checking in sort of today. both DH and i had URI's and felt less than great. we dont know if it was covid or not because our kits all expired long ago. we ordered new kits but too late to bother testing by the time they got here. my back is also giving me fits again. i have an appt next Thursday for spinal injection to hope to settle it down. meantime I've done therapy most days and am walking our yard. DH is doing wonderfully well and recovering on a record pace. where is everyone else?

Carolyn you wont be happy long without some others chiming in.

Valerie, I did wonder if you had Covid. Your symptoms sounded like the newest variant that is circulating here. You’re right, it’s not very motivating to talk to myself every day!

Tuesday I did 30 minutes of upper body and core work and 15 minutes of foam rolling. Wednesday I did 40 minutes of Peloton rides, yesterday I did a 20 minute strength workout with bands and today I did a 30 minute Power Zone Ride. It's been a hectic week but we finally got our furniture delivered late yesterday and we spent most of the evening putting our bedroom back together and getting our clothes into the new dressers. We are very happy with the furniture so far. We also had some recall work done on one of our vehicles. They were able to do the work here, but it was a morning appointment so another day of being up early waiting for someone to show up. I'm hoping we can get back to normal soon. I've been doing abbreviated workouts and not getting as much done as I wanted to, working around all of the things going on here.

Now that I'm not working I am hoping to set up a better workout rotation. I'd like to do something that includes Cathe's workouts for strength and kickboxing and Peloton for cardio. Working at Home Depot made it hard for me to workout the way I wanted to, especially when I was working several days a week.

Carolyn-I think you were right about the air quality causing my headache. I'm hoping the air quality will be better next week so I can get outside more. Great job with KCM’s Cardio Quick Fix workout one, RWH Back, Biceps, and Shoulders and RWH Legs, all strength.

Valerie-It does sound like you might have had Covid. Hopefully the spinal injection will help your back.

Hi to Cathy and Diane Sue

DH contaminated me with his cold, though thankfully a much lesser version of it. Moved fairly quickly though the stages and now I just have a cough, that rears its head at times. I finally did IMAX 3 combos today, and hope to get back on track tomorrow. We did do the zoo on Tuesday, but it was only one round, and much less vigorous than normal do to my cold and just the fact that Nick isn't as into zoos. Today we went to my parents today and he flies out tomorrow evening. Then Monday or Tuesday Derek and I will start planning our trip because my Passport arrived yesterday! Looks like the second week of September.

Valerie I'm sorry that you are having a rough health spell. I hope the injection helps and you both are feeling better soon.

Judy I'm sure you're glad to have things back in place again.

Hi Carolyn and Diane Sue.

we dont really know if it was covid. we each got our own regular head cold sxs. i think the inactivity is what aggravated my back because my head was so stuffed i couldnt breathe or sleep so i didnt do much. dh got his usual sore throat and cough. i had neither. suspicious thing is lost appetites. everything smells and tastes fine but not hungry. whatever! i wasnt doing much regardless.
DH got the ok from orthopedics to do what he wants. he is probably at close to 100% function. we will do our regular park walk tomorrow.. still wet this morning. our rainstorm yesterday flattened our entire corn crop. it didnt rain heavily, just all day lot of wind and constant rain. . its hard to get decent corn seed that grows strong plants. everything is GMO/ supersweet to satisfy commercial growers. I will quit corn before i can eat saccharine tasting stuff. artificial sweeteners always taste wrong to me, either too sweet or even kind of sour. our corn tastes like corn with some sweetness but not over the top. we dont have a long hot growing season here.

Judy great you are getting all your furniture in place. feels good when everything is in its place.

cathy we hot new passports this year just before they could be done online. still it was an amazingly efficient smooth process. bummer on the cold. i only had 2-3 unpleasant days.

did a short spin and stacked upper body. i am dumping most of my old Cathe DVD's that i dont use anymore. if anyone wants any i will send them for the cost of shipping. let me know soon though.

Today is my rest day. I was able to get out and go to the Farmer’s Market for my produce haul.

Judy, great job with Upper Body and Core, foam rolling,Peloton rides, and strength with bands. I know you are happy to have your bedroom back together.

Cathy, I’m sorry that you contracted your husband’s cold. Nice job with IMAX combos.

Valerie, it’s great that your husband can resume regular activities. Nice job with short spin and Stacked Sets Upper Body.

Waving hello to Diane Sue.
