Pelvic Inflammatory Disease

Hi everybody,
I hope that one of the nurses here on the forum read this post, I would love to hear their opinion.
I have been out of commission as far as exercising goes for one whole month now due to mild/moderate pain. I was diagnosed with PID. I started antibiotics yesterday (doxycycline 100 mg) . I was also given a shot of some sort of antibiotic and have taken 3 of the doxycyline. I am apparently so inflammed that every organ is pressing against each other and is definitely talking to me!

Just curious, how long should it be before I start getting the relief from the antibiotic?
Thanks,
Lisa

Lisa,

You should respond to therapy within 72 hours. Do you have a 72 hour appt.?

Hope you feel better ASAP!!!!

Edited to add: I sending you some information. Let me know if you don't receive it.

Did they do cervical cultures or check your white blood count ( which is a signal for infection)as well?
You should feel better very soon- a few days.
If despite antibiotics, you have fevers, chills, continued pain- they should do a pelvic sonogram or ultrasound ( if their diagnosis of PID is correct) and if so, you may need more intensive antibiotic treatment.
Please do talk to your health care provider about the long term implications of PID- I don't you to have to disclose very personal and privated information on a public forum.
