how do you know if you are over training. should you take off a few days every now and than? i do 20 min cardio 3 times a week 3 45 min cardios and 4 weight training with 1 day off.

The main thing you need to do is listen to your body. Back off if you experience the signs of overtraining. Some of the signs are fatigue, loss of motivation and injury. If you feel great, keep it up!! You're giving yourself one day a week for rest and that's good. You must have rest. But don't be afraid to take another day once in a while if you need it.

I find that many weeks I need 2 rest days. I just know that if I'm excessively fatigued through the day I need to rest or do a lighter workout. Esp since I'm doing Cathe I seem to need that extra rest day more frequently.

I think a minimum of 2 days rest is good. I believe Cathe recommends 3-4 days of cardio to maintain, 4-5 days if you're trying to lose weight. (I could be wrong about this--for some reason it sticks in my mind but I'm not sure what my source is)

I do cardio 4 days a week, maybe 5 if I'm feeling really energetic, & it's a variety. Monday & Thursday I either run or do a step tape. Saturday & Sunday I do cardio at the gym.

I will say this however: in my experience the most effective cardio w/o is running. I know if I want to slim down fast I can run for all my cardio workouts for 2-3 weeks & have quick results. The downside is it's probably toughest on the knees.
