Oh Happy Day!!!!!!!!!!!11

DEEDEE2

Cathlete
I work for a contract firm that has had me assigned to their number 1 client since I hired on with the firm many moons ago. Well every year around September the client (due to budget reasons) sends most of the contractors home which for most of us means a few months of being laid off. Well as I've said I've been doing this for a long time so I know to save my money for down time, and last year when September rolled around, they didn't lay us off (well, they did lay a few people off, but I was one of the lucky ones they kept on) I was very fortunate to not be laid off, BUT I had been looking forward to the break. Well this year I get my 2 and a half months break! YES! Starting tomorrow I am officially laid off probably until somewhere in November or December (I have enough money saved that I can go a year without even having to dip into my savings accounts!); I am so excited.

I get to find 'DeeDee' again, I get to enjoy my husband (that I usually only see in passing) and I get to enjoy the rewards of all of my hard work! Oh happy day!!!!! How excited am I about this time off? My boss offered to reassign me for 4 months and I considered it, but when he told me it was in another town I looked at him with horror on my face and said, "I can't leave my husband and my Tang Soo Do lessons for 4 months!". LOL!

Congratulations DeeDee! You're probably the only person that is happy about being laid off. Good for you for planning ahead and saving! I'm doing the same thing because you never know. Always better to be safe and sorry.

Enjoy your free time!!

I hear you. I've been doing this kind of work for the same client for 10 yrs now, and the first year I was not prepared for the lay off and it hit me HARD. I did, however, learn my lesson. I know for some, they simply can't save, but if you can (even $5!) do it every pay check, it really does add up. So instead of being stressed I get to relax and go see what this great city of mine has to offer. :D
