New STS'ers - Week of 8/17-8/23

Hi all, no workout yesterday, but started off this week with week 3 legs. Oh my, oh my. My legs are very wobbly, and I almost couldn't make it upstairs to shower! I did everything except the bonus work.

I am going to start posting my food, too. I used to do that on another check-in and it helped to keep me straight. I am going to measure tonight and report those #'s to you guys for motivation, too. I went to the grocery store and have lots of healthy food to keep me going.

How are you guys doing this week?
 
Hi Guys! Well, I didn't end up catching up on my workouts over the weekend. I had good intentions but was just so overtired and it was all I could do to get things done that needed to be done on the homefront! I'm not going to beat myself up over it. This morning I did about 3/4 of disc 5 and then I worked out pretty hard at work in our Tuesday evening class. Not sure if I'll work out tomorrow or not.

W-you're a brave soul deciding to post your food intake!

Kelly: I think you are right not to beat yourself up over it. I think there is no problem staying with the program even if you fell a few days behind. It is a 3 1/2 month program after all. So now you need to keep your work/life/workout balance :D I know I do too!

W: You are a brave soul indeed. Hummm, maybe I will do the same then. I am struggling with keeping the food clean. And they do say the eating is 80% of it. Anything that helps I would be game for. I also wanted your input on the workout equipment for STS. I saw a few posts about a squat stand. I think I really need one. Right now it's only for pull-ups but it will become more important later. I just wonder if it's worth waiting for the STS tower but I am also not sure how much that will run. Maybe more later on that topic.

Sharon: I hope you are doing good. How is your back? Have you been able to work out some?

As for me, this morning was supposed to be Disc 5 but I didn't get up early enough. Well sort of: DD was up at 2:15 am :confused: So by the time I put her back to sleep it was my time to get up, and well, I do have to sleep a little bit so I can function at work! So I will do it tonight instead. I can't wait for tomorrow: rest day!

Kelly, I forgot to tell you that my name is Nyx (weird, I know)...I think you asked that in another post. And don't worry at all about catching up. It's good that you listened to your body and rested if you were tired.

Helene, I wouldn't have woken up and worked out either! : ) The reason I didn't work out Mon. is b/c the night before a neighbor's dogs woke me up at 3:30, a phone call woke me up again at 5:30, and then my son woke up at 6. It took me more than an hour to go back to sleep after the 3:30 wakeup, and I never went back to sleep after the 5:30 wakeup.

I got them for $149 and $2.95 shipping from overstock.com. I got those rather than the BD-3 b/c I wanted somewhere to keep my plates, but it really wasn't necessary b/c I need to move the stands around a lot, and the plates just make it too heavy. However, putting plates on the holders makes it even more stable. I really like these stands.

I really like the looks of Cathe's tower, but since you can't do squats with it, I decided to go with these stands - I can do bench presses, squats, pullups/chinups. The only thing I'm not sure about is doing pushups on it, but I haven't tried it yet. I'm not sure if weight put on the bar at an angle like that would tip it over.

Hi Guys! DH & I have been commuting together this week -- his truck is in the shop. I haven't been able to get up and get in gear early enough to get through an STS. I was able to fit in some short cardios & yoga though.

I finally got to STS Disk 2 tonight and added on Fitness Fix upper body stretch. Whew! I totally stunk at those side lying pushups but made a respectable effort during the rest of the workout :) Problem is I'm usually in bed by now, so I'm guessing I'll have a hard time getting up tomorrow.

I'm looking forward to disk 6 Legs on Fri. I've done disk 3 several times already so I'm ready to move ahead.

I commend those of you working out with little ones. I had a hard time managing that when mine were young. I'd love a squat rack, but I workout in my LR. I already have stuff all over the place as it is. Luckily we don't entertain much.

Hi ladies, yesterday I did about 30 minutes of the BodyMax 2 cardio premix.

Here are my measurements:

Waist at navel: 32 in.
Waist at baby pooch (LOL): 34 in.
Fullest part of glutes: 39 in.
Fullest part of left/right thigh: 23.5 in./23.25 in.

Food yesterday:

Meal 1: Shake with banana, rice milk, hemp protein
Meal 2: 1.75 Balance bars
Meal 3: 2 cups greens, 2 tbs caesar dressing, 1/4 cup ea. rice and hummus, 1 cup apple juice
Meal 4: Veggie burrito & strawberries & watermelon
Meal 5: Light mashed potatoes, salad, watermelon
Extras: Coffee w/1.5 tsp sugar and 5 tsp creamer

I know that sounds like lots of food but they were all small meals. I am going to try and keep it to 1500 calories a day, 300 calories per meal. Definitely have room for improvement - I'm not sure how many calories I ate yesterday but it was probably over 1500. I'll need to start measuring again. Good thing I still have my food scale. : )
 
Strange but fun workout day:
STS - No Equipment Abs + Extended Stretch (it was obvious I haven't done traditional abs in a while)
took hubby to pick up truck
3 cardio combos - Amy's Kickbox Surge
took DD to vball practice
~30m Global Ride - Italy

I set a goal to do abs and an hr of cardio because I've been slacking in those areas. It took me 4 hrs to get it in but I'm done for today!! Love the energy levels the day after a rest day :) Bumped legs out to tomorrow.

Nyx I pretty much do 5 meals too. If I keep myself from getting too hungry I'm more likely to stay on track. It helps with my energy levels too.

Weight is up this week, so I'm back to tracking food closely. I'll also have to figure out how to increase my cardio time or be more active during the day. I burn about the same amout of calories as I do sleeping when I'm at work :rolleyes:

Gotta clean up and pick DD up from practice. Have a great day everyone!!
 
STS Legs Disk 6 + 30m verrry slow treadmill walk + some AM Yoga Forward Bends

I love Cathe's lower body work. I pushed today and used the suggested weights until towards the end. I'm going to be really sore but it was fun while it lasted. :cool:
