New Clean Eating book

I don't know about you all, but when it comes to clean eating, I know that I have the basics down, but other than that, have no idea what this all entails when it gets down to the nitty-gritty. Well, having said that, after a bit of research and many, many trips to the book store, I have found that I really like Oxygen Magazine for information regarding new exercises, clean eating, etc. Of course, you have to wade through all the supplement advertisements, but something I found in the latest issue was really cool. One of the contributing writers for the magazine, Tosca Reno, is coming out with a book in January, "The Eat Clean Diet". She is a success story herself in that she didn't start her health/fitness/weight loss journey until she was after 35 yrs old, has lost over 70 lbs and have kept it off for 7 years, all while having a career and raising 5 kids!!! Through her journey, she has also become a popluar swim suit model!

I know, I know, I sound like an advertisement, but I am so excited to get this book. I have been working Weight Watchers for 2 yrs now, with good success (just hit the 70 lbs lost yesterday, myself!), but there is still a lot for me to learn when it comes to nutrition and fitness. Over the last 6 months (since finding Cathe) I have found my mental focus has slowly started to evolve from "losing weight" to "gaining fitness". Also, being a nurse, I tend to do a lot of research before diving into something new.

Anyway, I pre-ordered this from Amazon for just over $11 and it's due to hit the shelves in January. I just though that I would pass some information on to those who might be in the same boat as myself when it comes to question/ideas for clean eating!

Thanks!

Amy-thank you so much for posting this info. I'm in the SAME exact boat as you: WW member for over 2 years. Lost the weight. Focus changed from weight loss to healthy lifestyle. Currently I'm giving the vegetarian lifestyle a shot (including dairy but no meat, which category of vegetarian that falls under, lol).

SO......I'm jotting down the name and author of this book, as I'd like to take a look as well!

Thanks again...and congrats on your AWESOME lifestyle change!

Gayle

Thanks, Gayle! Congratulations to you, too!!!

Oh, I forgot to mention that there's a new special issue of Oxygen Magazine that went to the shelves on Tuesday that I picked up and have found it to be a cover-to-cover read: "Clean Eating for the Active Lifestyle". I am only half way through it (got it yesterday) but have found the information very interesting.

Hmmm....I might have to place an order with Amazon....
Gracias!

On second thought.... do have some concerns about a book that claims to offer a "magical diet" and "Fast Fat loss that lasts forever" I still want to check it out because I am sure there is some good info but the advertising is well....cheesy

I ordered it too! Sounds very interesting. I also find that I am missing the nitty gritty when it comes to clean eating. Thanks for posting this :)

Lacto-vegetarian (if you eat eggs as well, it's lacto-ovo. If you eat fish or poultry, it's not vegetarian). :D

I think Tosca Reno is kind of cheesy. I've never been too impressed with her articles (and she seems to have an absolute hatred of fat people...I don't find fat attractive, but she really rips them.) She basically says what a lot of others say.

Some points I will keep in mind before ordering. Ripping on people doesn't make one exactly credible in my book (no pun intended)
Thanks Kathryn

I'm so psyched to hear this is good!!! But not surprised - I love everything Oxygen puts out. Their Nutrition special addition was incredible. I'll have to zip over to my local Barnes & Noble on my way home today!!!!!

I have only been reading Oxygen for a few months, but I haven't really gotten that vibe about Tosca Reno, Kathryn. That kind of comes at a surprise, though, seeing that she was fat herself at one time.

Amy,
I look forward to your review and your thoughts once you receive this book.

I will be stopping by B&N after shool today to check out this special edition of Oxygen.
