Need a bit of encouragement....

Who can make sense of this website? It's quite discouraging to me because I used to spend a lot of time here but anymore it seems overwhelming to try and figure out where the website has pushed me because all of a sudden I am hitting the back button and can't go back.:( Any way guys I need some suggestions for starting out slow. I have dropped off the wagon about July 1st and it has been about 2 1/2 months that I have done nothing at all (going through a divorce-in a 90 day reconciliation period that has my mental strength drained) when prior to 7/1/09 I was running 5 miles a day and weighing around 136 now I am 146 lbs. I can feel my hips growing and my arms starting to jiggle. I know that I am pretty much out of shape but want to start out slow because my muscles are quite weak. Any suggestions and encouragement would be much appreciated- I need to snap out of this path I am on. THanks in advance!

Yolanda, . . sorry to hear about what you are going through. You'll find though once you get back on track how helpful excersize will be as a stress relief. The best advice I can give you is just to start off slow and don't expect to get to where you were overnight. This is a lifestyle change that will ultimately help you for the better. Hang in there. Download some funky high energy music onto you ipod get your running shoes on and just start slow. On days when I don't feel up to it just the act of putting on my shoes has helped me get through the workout, . . and everytime even though I may not feel like I want to in the beginning, . .I ALWAYS feel better after. Good luck, . hang in there and keep us posted on your results, . .you'll be off and running in no time.

Life seems to get in the way. You are going thru a lot right now.

I'm right there with ya, have not done crap since June. All because I'm just not motivated. I had knee surgery almost 2yrs ago and finally thought I was strong enough to try Meso 1 legs with TONS of modifications. Did most of it and the next day was back to screaming in pain. It's taken 3 weeks to get the knee to settle down. I was majorly bummed.

I can yell at you and say bad words like Jillian on the biggest loser?? God I'd love for someone to scream at me and make me move my big arse.

One step at a time. Make the time and effort and find something that will keep you on the path. I'm gonna make time 1st thing in the morning. Then I have it done and out of the way, no excuses.

Keeping fit isn't easy :(

Yolanda,

I have fallen off the fitness and healthy eating wagon and gotten back on sooo many times.
I guess all I can say is that everyone falls off at some point, only the strong get back on! This time around I am trying to keep myself excited about it by......buying new workout DVD's. Expensive habit, I know, but I am motivated to demo the DVD's and try them out. Of course, I still need to get the ones I own but don't like/use to ebay, but one thing at a time :) I have probably 15-20 lbs to loose to get me to my happy zone, and I know it's gonna be tough. I have my bad weeks and good weeks (my problem is more food related...HUGE sweet tooth) but if you give up it will only get worse. So we can't do that :p

I am trying to keep thing varied, and I cut back running to 1 time a week and mixing in cardio DVD's (Cathe's shock cardio is on order, and insanity comes next week!!!) and am slowly starting on some weight training DVD's. My body can get overwhelmed and crash on me trying to start too many new things at once, so I only start 1 new habit a week at most (eating clean, running, weights, etc). I did have to accept that sometimes a 30 minute workout is good enough, be it cardio or a DVD workout (I used to be fixated on an hour minimum), which makes squeezing a workout in on a busy day easier.

Soo..this is for YOU..No one else. So don't let anyone else make you feel like you aren't doing enough. I do all my workouts in the morning before work, but find whatever time works for you. Exercise is a big stress reliever for me, cardio more than anything else. So start looking forward to feeling better once you start moving again :)

All the best,
Cindy
