long time since I have been on....lost all motivation since returning to work...

I have not been on much (just lurking)...I have not worked out but 3 times in over a month, I have just went back to work the first of July, I have to get up at 5 am to get myself and the kids ready, be at work by 7:30 after a 45 min drive to work. I get home by 5:30, then make supper, do a load of laundry, get three kids in the tub, get myself in the tub if I am lucky, and then get things ready for the next day. My question is how do all of you ladies do it? I have really slipped on my weight watchers too, due to lack of time (fast food for lunch) and slackness on my part. I am only getting 5-6 hours of sleep a night, so getting up earlier is SO hard to do. What do you ladies suggest? I do walk around the neighborhood a couple evenings a week, but I cant seem to find any time during the week to do any Cathe workouts. I have been doing at least one on the weekends, but I am used to doing it everyday, and I miss it so much.....I just cant seem to work anytime in for myself. I want to, but dont know how.......any advice ladies?

By the way....it looks like yall had a lot of fun on the road trip..wish I could have been there with ya!

Can your husband give the kids a bath while you work out?

You can use the weekend to make meals ahead of time and freeze them.

Can you walk during your lunch break at work?

Make your lunch to take to work the night before. When you go grocery shopping stock up on yogurt, carrots, fruit, low fat cheese, whole wheat bread, lean lunch meat, ff or lowfat cottage cheese etc.

I forgot to say: YOU CAN DO IT!!!

RE: long time since I have been on....lost all motivati...

Hi Joanna! Welcome Back...you've come to a great place for motivation. Could you possibly turn your walks into power walks and maybe, just maybe do, say a CTX body part each morning (or nite) since they are only about 15 minutes? Maybe just putting the workouts back into your life will help motivate you because you KNOW how fun Cathe is! As far as the eating, maybe start also with baby steps, such as adding your 8 glasses of water back this week, next week try adding fruits back in, veggies or whatever you struggle with. Maybe cut way back on sugar, fats, processed foods and such. Good Luck and keep coming back. Someone will be here to give you some tips.

Well, the first thing is, don't beat yourself up for it. You're a busy lady and it's tough to juggle kids, a job, household duties, etc. But it can be done! Talk it over with dh and let him know how important it is that you get some time to yourself to workout. Break your workouts up in 2 sections: do the first 5 intervals of Imax 2/3 in the morning (30 minutes or so) and the second 1/2 at night. Or do a 30 min cardio w/out in the morning and some weights at night. You don't have to do it all at once....it's perfectly fine to split it up during the day. Find some time to squeeze it in and make an appointment with yourself like you would make an appointment with a friend for lunch and DON'T break it! Once you get in the habit again, the great feeling you get from exercise will be enough to keep your motivation going. And definitely keep your diet clean with lots of fresh fruits and veggies. GOOD LUCK!

Hi Joanna, most of the battle (at least for me) is having the desire to do it and it sounds like you are there already. Another suggestion, (assuming you have access to a computer with a DVD player at work) may be to get some lower intensity weight training DVDs and do them on your lunch hour at work. I have an area I can go to and one of my co-workers and I do a DVD like Gunnar Peterson or Jari Love a couple of times a week. We don't really break a sweat so hygiene isn't an issue. Before the access to a DVD player, we got a couple of books by Kathy Smith and made up our own routines. We keep weights at work and several people have asked to join us recently. Its a nice pick-me-up too. Also, it sounds like you are already burning a lot of calories with all you do. Hope this helps, Sue
