I just wanted to share with everybody what a great workout that I tried the other day, JiuJitsu. It was an incredible workout. It was a combination of martial arts, floor moves and wrestling. Me and my husband took a lesson from this dojo place and then we were able to apply what we were taught. We 'competed' against each other for half an hour or so and wow, what a workout. every part of my body was so sore the next day. the most stenuous sport i ever did was snow skiing, but this tops it. if your workouts are stagnated, i suggest trying this!

Oh I took ju jitsu for 3 years in my late 20s (where I met my ex hubby in fact). It was so much fun! I also loved the way they incorporate so many different fitness factors into a workout. Self defense, boxing/bag work/sparring, wrestling, drills--I had a blast & made it to green belt. But my sensei gave me the boot b/c I had issues w/the spiritual side of it. He wanted me to learn to meditate (I have enough trouble sitting still for one minute) & I wanted me to learn how to kick some a$$. :p

My DH does Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I've done Nimpo with him a few times and thought it was fun, but Jiu-Jitsu is WAAAY more fun and challenging. He used to go to a gym by us and they had absolutely no spiritual stuff at all. There was no bowing to the sensei stuff or anything like that. In fact, they just called the teacher by his first name. It's just a bunch of people learning to spar (in a non injuring way) and no chanting, meditating, or bowing.
