Is this wise?

Today I did Bootcamp and I wondered if it would be OK if I went ahead and did IMAX 2 tomorrow. I wanted some advice because BC really gets my heart rate way up there during the cardio portions of the cycle and then it goes back down during the weight portions, so is it a little like intervals, even though its a circuit workout? I wondered if it would be too taxing on the heart if I went ahead and did an IMAX after that. What are you opinions, educated crowd?

I think Imax would be okay tomorrow....but what are most of your workouts like? If you are not used to taxing your heart two days in a row weights might be better tomorrow...:)

Well, most of my workouts are similar to IMAXes, Bootcamp, I do some Mindy Mylrea, some running, KPC, ME, Step Blast, MIC, Muscle Max, etc. and most of Cathe's other stuff, so I think my body would be used to it. I just never thought about it until I heard that Cathe said only do the IMAX 2 workout twice a week and I wondered if other types of workouts would be similar to intervals, as well.

If I'm not mistaken, I think Cathe herself puts these two workouts back to back in at least one of her rotations. I think you can certainly give IMAX2 a try today, but if you are finding yourself struggling too much, stop the workout and pop in a lighter, steady- state cardio such as Rhythmic Step, a 30min CTX cardio, or a cardio off of the Body Blast TimeSaver dvd. Or do an alternative cardio such as running, power walking, cycling, swimming, elliptical, treadmill, etc.

Cheers,
Sandra

I wouldn't do it, but more from concerns about overdoing it on the knee than about overdoing it for the heart.

But you have to listen to your own body and decide whether it's a wise decision for you. Your own body is your best personal trainer, IMO.
