I'm Crying

Cathlete
Hi! I've posted a couple of times in the past months about getting back to working out after a sickness, and then the sickness turned into bronchial pneumonia. Today, I went to see a pulmonologist, and I found out that I have enlarged lymph glands, which I have to have biopsied and there's a slight chance that it may be lymphoma, but it's more likely a condition called sarcoidosis.

I was looking at some medical sights, and the information was overwhelming me a bit, so I decided to come over here to feel better. I'm reading threads about all of your workouts and progress, and now I'm sitting here with tears streaming down my face because not only have I not been able to work out in 2 months, but I can't even get up a flight of stairs without losing my breath, and now I'm scared, too.

I guess I should try to be positive, but I'm not handling this too well. I feel so pathetic.

Lynda,
So sorry you are sick and have been feeling bad. I do believe in keeping a positive attitude- it helps. But I am sure it is hard from where you are. (((((HUGS))))) You'll get plenty of support and well wishes from your friends in fitness.

take care
catherine

Thanks so much, Catherine. I'm going to try to keep focused on the positive. Sometimes, it just gets hard when you hear those scary words.

Lynda, I'm very sorry to hear about your health problems, Right now the most important thing to remember is to think of your health first, not worry about not being able to work out. Take care of yourself, do what's best to get you back on track, and try to be patient. Do you have a good support system around you? You always have one here anytime you need it.

Hi Lynda! i understand that you're feeling down today but you should also look at the fact that you are taking steps towards finally feeling better. hopefully, you will soon see the light at the end of the tunnel and be joining us in the pain that is Cathe! until then i will be sending good thoughts your way.

I know how overwelming medical sites can be. Keep in mind most of the time it does end up better than what you think. We always look for the worst. My heart goes out to you! Keep your chin up and know whatever does come your way you can put up a hard fight to come through it:)

Lynda, I think you are handling it just fine. Hang in there and try to keep your spirits up. It may be hard and it's natural to be scared, but the odds are in your favor so just keep reassuring yourself that it will all work out. Keeping a positive attitude is more easily said than done :) but try to relax and stay distracted. Be kind to yourself. Pamper yourself and try to find ways to calm yourself. Don't let your fears get the best of you but know that it's a normal response to what you are going through. Vent as often as you feel the need. These froums are perfect for that! Let your doctor know of your fears and tell him you want everything done as quickly as possible so you don't have to wait and worry. I will be keeping you in my heart and my prayers and I wish you quick answers and a return to good health. :)

Tell me, what it is you plan to do with your one wild and precious life? -Mary Oliver

Absolutely, take it one step at a time. You won't know anything until more tests are run so in the mean time try to stay positive and not dwell on the 'what if's', okay? Spend this time taking care of you, can you do yoga? Yoga and stretching are very relaxing for me and really does help to keep you centered and focused on life.

Don't fret about what could be, and don't try to self diagnose...it will only add to your stress level right now. Plan your days so you stay busy and you have less time to surf medical sites. :)

Lynda,

Thoughts and prayers coming your way. And lots of {{{{hugs}}}}!

My sister had lymphoma. She's now 2 months into remission. She was diagnosed last year on April 1st to be exact. She had wonderful doctors who treated it very aggressively.

Like everyone else said to stay as postive as you can. i wouldn't worry about working out. You need your strength.

I'll be thinking of you.

Lynda, deal with the condition first. Work closely with your doctor. Don't think about weights and cardio until you know what you're up against and how you can beat it. I wish you the best.

Lynda:

Good thoughts and prayers coming your way. Agree with what others say med sites can be oh so scary and overwhelming.

We are here for you (hugs)

I'm sorry you're ill.
I know how overwhelming and scary some info can be. Sometimes it's best just to let the Dr's deal with it and not look into too much info.
I was diagnosed a few years ago with Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome (an extra electrical connection between two parts of the heart that makes it have extra beats at times.) Before I went for a stress test with a cardiologist, I read up on it a bit (it can be fatal if the heart goes too fast) and in the same period of time, saw it mentioned on both ER and Chicago Hope (on CH, the guy who had it had to be operated on "immediately, or he could die!"). Turns out, my little electrical connection turns off when my heart goes faster (like when I work out at higher intensties), so it does reach the danger point (though I think it screws up heart rate monitor readings at lower heart rates).

You're not pathetic at all. It's a very human reaction to be frightened and overwhelmed. Get in a good cry: there are actually physical benefits to crying, it releases built-up hormones or something. Then treat yourself well. Get the biopsy done ASAP so that you know for sure what you're dealing with.

Good luck to you!

Lynda -

I'm so sorry you're sick and I'm sending you lots of cyber {{{HUGS}}}. I understand your frustration but take one thing at a time and concentrate on getting better first. You will eventually get back to working out in due time. Take it slow and steady and one day at a time.

Do keep us informed on your tests.

(((Lynda)))

Like others have said--sometimes it's better to stay away from the medical sites. They can be overwhelming, because they give all the worst case scenarios.

Take one step at a time and don't worry about working out right now.

I just said a prayer for you.

take care
Maggie

Easy to say, but please try not to worry. I have had pneumoniae three times, and have been diagnosed with asthma this past year. Not as scary as your possiblities, but I know how frightening it can be to just not be able to breathe. Remember, the medical community always gives you the worst case senerio. You will be in my prayers. Please keep us posted.

I just wanted to send you lots of hugs and ask you to let us know what you find out. We'll be worrying with you until you find out everything is going to be okay.

Shari

Lynda-
My prayers are with you.

Do something nice for yourself and stay away form those medical web sites. They are not necessarily accurate. If you can do yoga, perhaps you will feel some accomplishment with it. If not even shrot walks around your home or yard and may help clear your head for a bit.

Please let us know yor results; we care about you.

Thank you everyone for all the kind words and prayers. You all are just what I needed! How wonderful to have such a great support group, especially when I'm sitting here feeling so alone. I'm feeling much more positive today. Why is it that things always look better in the light of day?

Many thanks to you all! Will keep you posted.

Lynda

Lynda~I'm sorry you are having to go thru this. I just went thru a scary time too and it is very hard NOT to worry. (This forum helped to ease my worries a LOT!) My thoughts and prayers are with you. I hope the doctor speeds this along for you. Keep us posted and come back anytime you need our help. Big hugs to you!
