Hello - I'm Home!!

Cathlete
Hello dear friends, I missed you guys!! I had my knee surgery on the 17th and I'm feeling very optimistic and virtually pain free. My doctor tells me that my surgery was a success - I saw the entire procedure - just like being on Discovery Health - ha! Seriously though, this time around with a great wonderful doctor I"m very confident that in a few weeks i'll be back to my ole self again and working out and sweating with all of you! Of course I'll have to be careful with the step routines and i'm sure that i'll have to modify a lot of stuff, but I don't care because I don't have that horrible pain! As I'm sitting here writing to you all I'm doing leg lifts that are quite hard but I'm not giving up. My quads are still asleep and slowly waking up. A word of advice to you - For those of you that suffer with your knees or backs or whatever your injury may be, please go for 2, 3 or more opinions - I learned the hard way!

Take care all - I'm so glad to be back!!

Welcome back Iris! Sorry you had to have surgery, but that is best sometimes, and the fact that the pain is gone is wonderful! Yes, I think modification is the key....I hope for a fairly speedy recovery for you...:)...Carole

Iris, I'm so glad you're back and feeling optimistic!! I hope you'll be up and doing your beloved Body Max soon. BUT DON'T RUSH IT!!! Glad to hear that everything went well!

Hi Iris sweetie!! I'm soooo very glad to hear of this wonderful news! My prayers have been answered. Now you'll be able to get 8 hrs. or more of sleep that's much needed! I know this is an enormous relief to you. Don't do any exercises w/out dr's okay; we don't want anything to go wrong this time around. Talk to you soon! Hugs & kisses, Kathy:*

Iris, congrats on a successful surgery! What did you have done to your knee? Was it torn cartiledge? I honestly can't remember if you ever said. I know that it was arthroscpoic though. Anyway, I knwo that after MY ACL replacement and cartliedge repair it took me about 4 weeks to get back on a bike, and then I went from there. REally I was back to Cathe in about 3 months I think. I didn't do any piveting, or turning in circles, I just adjusted to what I knew I could do. It worked for me. Sounds like your wasn't as extensive, I was out cold for mine. So you will be back a lot sooner than I was. Just some words of encouragement from someone whos been there done that with knee surgery.
Kathy

Hello Kathy, Janice, Nancy and All! Thank you for your kind words and wishes. I'm getting teary eyed just reading them. But it's all true - I feel WONDERFUL!!. I'm just taking Viox for two more days and I'm not on any pain medication - how great is that!! Other than some swelling around the incisions (there are 3) there is no pain whatsoever!!! :D Kathy, I had arthroscopic surgery for a very torn meniscus, doctor cleaned up a lot of the artiritis and moved or something like all the tendons and ligaments around the patella. Suffice it say that the "pulling or tearing" sensation I was feeling 24/7 is no more - nothing, nada, zilch - LOL. Nancy, you better believe that I will be doing some major modifying and attempting my beloved Body Max once the doctor says I can. I'll see him again next Wednesday and he mentioned this morning the plan he has for my therapy, so I'm feeling very optimistic and happy. As some of you may know I have several wonderful events happening in the next few months - baby #2 for my daughter Jocelyn due in July and her graduation from the university with her masters degree - just to name two, so you see, the latina dancer in me is screaming for some dancing and movement in celebration of these events, not to mention our outing to meet and workout with our Cathe! So keep praying for me as I will do for all of you that I hold dear to me heart. Cathe, if you're reading this post, just know that I am so looking forward to meeting you and saying thank you for being you and most of all for being such a great inspiration to me and all of your fans on this forum. Sorry - i'm getting all emotional here.

Take care dears,

Iris
