Hardcore Rotation Checkin Thursday Aug 18

Morning Everyone -

This morning I did 40 minutes of StepFit followed by PUB stability ball segment and the stretch from StepFit. I got sick after work yesterday. Either my IBS is acting up or I have a touch of the stomach flu. I slept in about 15 minutes, so I was running late again today. I didn't want to push myself too hard for fear of getting sicker also.

Have great workouts everyone. Everyone is doing great with the rotation.

Good Morning Everyone!

Lora ~ I hope you're feeling better. You're vacation is quickly approaching.

Terri ~ How are you feeling? You too! You two can't be sick on your vacation.:-(

Nicole ~ If you start over with #1 from the book, you're not going to have anything left in your house! ;-)

Sabrina ~ Did you manage a work out yesterday with all of your errands?

Susan ~ How did HSTA go for you?

Marietta ~ How's week 4 going?

There must be something in the air because my ds2 woke up yesterday with a terrible cough. I'm not taking him to the doc yet, just watching him closely. He has a history with respiratory infections and the nebulizer. I guess our fun day will be right here today.

I don't have HSTA, so I did Monday (week 1) work out. BMax. I did that at 3:00A because I couldn't sleep and then my son woke up crying. So, I have to finish that work out.

Have great work outs! I'll check back later..unless I'm sleeping! LOL!;-)

Hello,

Lora, I hope your "bug" gets better real soon. I probably would have skipped this morning's workout. You're a trooper!

Today I did HSTA, I tried to do KPC abs. They are now too difficult. I could only do crunches with the 8lb. db. I then banged out 280 gorsha lunges (140 each leg) with a 5 lb. db.

Have great workouts today! I'll check back later.

Susan C.M.

Hey Guys!!

Well...I've kinda switched things around a bit. I did tomorrow's workout today, because it will work out better that way. So, this morning I did GSL and I will go for a 3 mile run at lunch. (Remember - I'm on week 4 of the Aug05 Rotation).

Lora - Well darn! If it's not one thing it's something else...bless your heart. You're a trooper and I know you'll get through this...vacation is around the corner!!

Have a Terrific Thursday...I'll be back later!!

Hi everyone! I am not looking that forward to todays workout but since I have only done HSTA once before I bet it goes by fast:) Doesn't it seem like that to you guys when you do a workout for the first time or do one you haven't done in awhile? Time just zips by!

Lora-I have a bug right now as well. I leave next thursday so I will be fine by then I hope. When do you leave? I know it's hard to take it down a notch even when sick. I went to the doc and got antibiotics to play it safe as I refuse to be sick on my vacation! Here is to wishing us both a speedy recoery.

Dallas-3a.m.! Sorry that you couldn't sleep and that your son isn't feeling well. I been reading some of the threads and see there are more then a few people outthere not feeling well. I hope you can get a nap in today.

Marietta-Thanks for your acvice on tomorrows workout:)

Susan-yes do tell how hsta went.

Sabrina-you feeling better about the kids and school?

Nicole-I am set to go on the book! So Monday we start again?

Well everyone have a great day! I will check back in later.

Terri

I'm back again. I had to go in a hurry. This job interferers too much in my personal life. Hahaha

Dallas, I wanted to congratulate your daughter on getting her Yellow belt. That's a great accomplishment. I hope your son gets better soon.

Nicole, my son starts Kindergarten this year too. It's only half day. He's been going to daycare for so long now, I'm not sure if I'll be sad or not. Well, maybe a little.

Marietta, I'd say CM could be substituted with C&W. Just use two risers. It's a mix of cardio and compound weight exercises. C&W has a great ab segment at the end too.

Terri, Yeah, I did enjoy HST this morning. It is my favorite. The time flies by. Today I used my 8lb medicine ball for step-ups. I usually use 35 lb. Bb.

Now, you guys probably know I'm a true Cathe fan. I have only worked out with Cathe for the last five years. I purchased P90X, and didn't like it. Well, fooling around yesterday, I came across a DVD from Tracie Long called Functional Foundations-Core Cardio & Core Strength. I think I'm going to purchase this today. Have any of you heard of it? http://www.tracielong.net/foundations.html

Susan

Hi ladies

Lora-I hope you get to feeling better!

Dallas-I hope your son feels better soon. 3:00am is so early! I don't know how you can work out that early even if you can't sleep. Ugh! I would end up with the whole family up if I worked out that early. I did not manage to work out. The only thing I did get in was walking the kids to school and back and then doing it again to pick them up. I got in a power walk of sorts without them on the way back from taking them and then again on the way to get them. Hard to walk to fast with my 3 year old son in one of those light weight fold up strollers.

Terri-I hope you get rid of your bug too. I think something has to be going around everywhere. My sons have been coughing. My oldest son had a hard time this morning because he couldn't find someone to talk to. It can be a little intimidating since he is in 5th grade and there are grades 5-8 there. He is at the bottom of the totem pole. Also all the kids from the three grade school combine for the first time.

Susan-that is a lot of lunges! Way to go!

Nicole and Terri-I know I asked before but what book are you doing?

Marietta-Have a great run at lunch!

I hope all you ladies had a great workout with HSTA. I am going to try and get a workout in today. We have an open houuse at our middle sons school this evening. 5:00-6:30. We get to listen to our sons teacher for 15-30 minutes talk about her class and what he will be doing this year. We also get to eat supper there. I usually get my workouts done in the evenings but there has been one thing after another this week. Tomorrow night is my Niece's birthday party.

Have a great day!! I will post back later if I do get an actual workout in. ;-)

Sabrina-we are doing the book 30 days to a simpler life. It helps you unclutter and organize areas of your life. Dallas has the book as well.

Susan-Glad you liked the workout. I am off in a few minutes to try it!

Terri

Sabrina ~ The book is called 30 Days to a Simpler Life. I've done day #1 on certain parts of the house and #2 (one kitchen drawer). So, I have some work to do! However, I had to do the kids closets so I knew what they needed for school. I'll be back on Day #1 with Nicole and Terri on Monday. My dh is thrilled I have this book! He should send Nicole a huge thank you! :D He doesn't save ANYTHING!

So, Sabrina do you want to join us?

Dallas

I guess several of us were posting at about the same time earlier...

Dallas - Week 4 is going quite well...I think you guys will like it. Sorry the sick-bug is at your house...you must exterminate him!! You worked out at 3:00 am - I'm a fanatic and I don't even think I could do that!! You go girl!!

Terri - Hope you feel better too...Don't overdo it, especially when you are feeling ill. Take care...ok?

Susan - I want to know what GORSHA lunges are too...are were you in a big rush or something when you typed that. I have not heard of Tracie Long, but I'm very interested in what you find out.

Sabrina - Hope you get to workout today - sounds like you might have to start working out in the AM...those evenings of yours are just so full of activity! Have fun at school tonight!!

I am most likely going to run a 1/2 marthon on Sept. 24. So...that means I need to get my running rear in gear. After this week, I may go to a one body part per day rotation...those work out really well when I'm training.

Have a great afternoon guys!!

Susan - I just bought all of Traci Long's stuff from that site the week that I decided I needed to start throwing more variety into my workouts. That is the only workout I did so far. I did it a couple Saturdays ago. It was probably an intermediate level to me. I remember it had some impact in it and I made a mental note to use my rebounder next time (especially since I did it on my recovery day). I don't remember the ab section being really long or difficult, but then I'm now used to Cathe. It had a lot of functional movements with the medicine ball and I only have up to a 6 pound ball and I wasn't sure what they were using. I was afraid to use my heaviest one, as it was my first time doing it (and again it was my recovery day), but I also remember making a mental note to use a much heavier medicine ball next time. I actually made a note that I need to purchase one, but figured I'd use a dumbbell for the time being. I might be doing it one of these Saturdays again soon. I'll let you know.

Hello Everyone,
Well I ended up doing step jam and Imax3 (1-5) I really did not enjoy Step jam that much:( I like Cathes newer dvds SOOO.... much better (from CTX- until today) When I hear people raving about Mic I just don't see it????

I think today is HSTA??? I will do whatever is on the list!!

Lora sorry you have been having foot pain and now ibs. My sister has that and what a hassel!! Hope you get better soon!! :D

Terri and Dallas I did my dd closet yesterday and I have 1 bag:7 Yay!!!!!! Although if we were competeing I would say Dallas you are the winner so far;-) Terri and I are going to get real serious next week!!!!! SO LOOK OUT :7

Sabrina the book is a organizing book. It give's you a job to do for 30 days. day 1... grab a garbage bag and fill it for one hour, and get the bag out of the house that day. day.... 2 clean out a junk drawer etc..... It just a tiny little book that I got a few years ago and the *FUN* factor is when you do it with a friend/s!!! So I am really excited that a lot of you girls joined in!! It has been fun hearing what you have been getting done :D Keeps me motivated.

Susan I know quite a few people really enjoy these dvds. I think Kathryn on the board does??? Just curious how much were they at Target?

Marrieta how exciting you running a marathon!! I LOVE one body part per day!!

Well gotta go!!

~Nicole

P:S: I will try and post back later, but if I don't and ya don't see me tomorrow it's because its my dd Birthday :D

Well this book sounds like fun! Count me in!! I will buy it this weekend if I can find it. Where did you ladies get yours? I will start Day 1 with you on Monday. :)

Sabrina-I ordered mine from barnes and noble. I Had it shipped to the store(big mistake) They forgot to call me when is was in! I bet if you order online today you will have it on monday at your house. The book is just over ten bucks so not expensive at all. I am glad you will be joing us!

Well I did HSTA and I didn't do it twice like I had considered. My god the leg presses just never end do they!:) I then did abs from kpc and added in abs from me and bootcamp. I still think tonight I will run for 30 minutes as I like my cardio!

Marietta-good luck with your workouts and how exciting about the marathon!

Yeah Nicole I think Dallas is way ahead of us in the book dept!

Terri

Hi again!

Gorsha lunge is a one legged squat with your foot elevated fairly high ~ like on a weight bench. I used to hold a 25lb. weight plate flat against my chest (or against my flat chest, either works:p) lean slightly forward and dip up and down. Here is a description, but they don't show the foot elevated.
http://www.bluesuitmom.com/health/personaltrainer/lunge.html
My balance is really bad now, so I had my un-weighted barbell in one hand a 5lb. dumbbell in the other. I did 4 sets of 35 reps.

Lora, thank you for the review on the TLP workout. I ordered it off their website. I hope it comes in soon.

Dallas, I'm like your husband. I don't save anything either. My closets are not cluttered.

Marietta, that's so exciting doing a half marathon. The end of September is a good time to do it too! Not too hot and humid outside.

Susan C.M.

Terri - I believe I made a similar comment about the leg presses in HSTA the last time I did it.........Geez! that's too funny. There are a LOT of them in that one. Is that why you like it so much Susan?

Hey Sabrina,
I just got a email from borders. They sent me a 30% off coupon!! If you don't get this. Email me and I will send you the link so you can get one too!!
