HARDCORE FITNESS MANIAC'S WEEKEND CHECK IN JUNE 12-13

Morning Maniacs - I did Leslie's Bootcamp Walk with Crazy Eight tubing. Workout was 65" and I burned 540 calories. Max HR was 163 ....maybe just higher for a very short time. Have gret wiroiuts........work all day 11:30 to 9:15....this shift is KILLING me. I'm tired and I hate it!

Good morning, ladies. Hope everyone is having a good weekend so far, although I guess, Lora, your Saturday will be dampered by that shift. =(
I used to hate shifts like that, cuz they don't start late enough for you to really enjoy your morning, and they don't end early enough for you to really enjoy your evening.

I don't think I've checked in at all this week, but here's what I've done:

Monday--nothing =(
Tuesday--yoga class
Wednesday--4DS Kickboxing
Thursday--Simply Endurance...this is a Gin Miller workout; I've not done it in a while, but I quite liked it. Does anyone have her Simply Circuit, or I think there's one called Simply Strong; are those any good?
Friday--wanted to go to that awesome yoga class I've been taking in the morning, but I didn't get enough sleep, and then I spent about 5 hours with my future MIL doing wedding stuff, so I ended up not working out at all.

I think today I may go to yoga.

I got my workout in this morning with quite a few interruptions:) I did MMA Boxing 49 min 307 calories. Forgot to check the HR on my monitor. Then I did 10 minute solution quick sculpt pilates total body and strength and flexibility segments 21 min 81 calories. These always give me cramps in my hamstrings. I am not very good at holding that ball still either. I guess I just need more practice but I am not a fan of pilates. I finished with Jillian's Yoga Meltdown level 2 29 min 108 calories. Total time spent 39 miin, total calories 496. I am tired this morning. Stayed up to late and needed to get up and get the turkey breast cooking for family dinner today.

Hermia, I don't have anymore of Gin Millers workouts. I used to have two on VHS but got rid of all but 3 Firm ones that I still have. I have contemplated her Kettlebell workout which I think is mostly upper strength work.

HI -

I did get some extra interval work in last night - about 20 minutes. Been futzing around with my Workout Manager and STILL haven't entirely committed to what I'm going to do today. Maybe the Leg Blast Premix from Butts and Guts and some kb work. It's very cool and rainy here (at least for June - 50 something degrees). I think the big, scary storm collapsed into a soggy pile of rain clouds - as far as I know the big watch is over :) That is GOOD - however, this weather makes me just want to curl up and read all day - or something. Sounds like a good idea in a way - but it really isn't one.

Hermia - I JUST put that workout into my rotation (Gin Miller's Simply Endurance). I have it on VHS and thought about it last week when I was coming up with full body workouts. I think she's very good. I had Belle Strength (or something like that?), but soon after we got Skyler, it acquired a mysterious puppy tooth-shaped hole in it  If I remember, it was similar to SE in style and sequencing but had enough different exercises and elements, so it wasn't too redundant. I don't have any of her other workouts. I like Gin - and her workouts are challenging (especially as she includes so many options to bump up the intensity). I think the last time I did SE (quite a while ago) I actually had shoulder soreness - and shoulder doms are EXTREMELY rare for me. It looks like you got some very quality workouts in. Hope you can get to the yoga class you like so much. Is it only on Friday's? Did you enjoy your time with your future MIL? The title (mother in law) seems to come with a negative ("ugghh") association. That isn't really fair and I hope in your case, is inaccurate, too ;). I don't know if/when you have the date set for your wedding. If you posted that info, sorry to be asking again. Anyway, hope you're enjoying your Saturday :D

Lora - I agree with Hermia - those are lousy shift hours. That's a good cal burn there - hope you had some fun and good on you for getting something in despite being tired. That's not easy. You're closing in on your time off though, huh? Hang in there ;)

Hi to whoever follows. I will likley be back later.

Diane Sue - Looks like we posted earlier around the same time. I've gotten more used to interruptions during workouts. Mostly a matter of necessity, I s'pose ;) Years ago, it used to REALLY upset me if I had to pause and deal with something else. Anymore, I seem to be ok with it. DS probably "re-trained" me, but now that he's older I think he really tries to let me have that time (which I appreciate). Just babbling about this because I noticed (I think) you deal quite a bit - at least off and on - with interrupted workouts. I suppose family and grand babies and muddle-headed sprinkler (wanna be) fixer dudes all contribute ;) Your workout looked good - especially since you're tired and have so much going on this weekend. I have one Pilates tape and have done it just a few times. I'm just not a big fan either. Enjoy your family dinner and I surely hope you're able to get some rest/relaxation at some point, too :D

Hi Lori, no, I didn't post before about the wedding date. We just got it finalized the other day; it's going to be Feb. 26. =)
She's a really nice lady and is very eager to help with wedding things, which is nice because she's helped with several weddings, her mom was a wedding planner, and my mom, sister, and other family members are in a different state, so I won't be able to get any help from them.

I didn't end up getting to go to yoga because my fiance wanted to go to lunch...we walked around some antique shops and had really good mediterranean food. I hope baklava isn't too bad for you, because Mark was so taken with their baklava he bought a whole tray, lol.

After we got back, I did Supersets.

Hermia - Well then. CONGRATULATIONS :D :D :D That's such an exciting, cool time -- being a bride to be, that is. Also, very glad to hear your Mother In Law is a neat lady. Baklava - wow. I haven't had that in a long time but I remember it as being pretty incredible. Sorry you missed your yoga class but it sounds like it was worth it. Supersets is one I don't have. I'm pretty impressed, by the way, that you still got in a workout after your full afternoon (and stomach). Very disciplined of you. When I get involved in doing stuff like you described, I tend to just lose steam and call it a rest day. Actually, I almost did that anyway today - except I haven't really done ANYTHING except spend some time on a writing project and talk with ds about music  It's been so gloomy and COLD (our furnace kicked on this evening ) I really just wanted to put on thick socks and grab a blanket. However, I ended up doing the Leg Blast premix from Butts and Guts late this afternoon. Just now, I finished the floorwork and abs premix (also B & G). It was almost an hour long because several of the leg's floorwork segments are repeated (as if once weren't enough). I'm glad I did it though - tend to skip over floorwork, but if I just dive in, I usually enjoy it.

Ok then. Guess that's all for now.

Not sure if anyone's around today. I've been studying and cleaning and just finished an hour of kickboxing. I just chose some favorite segments from a few different DVD's and timed them so they'd = an hour. Pretty fun. I will have time for a second workout tonight. I think I'll do an interval/bodyweight training mix. It's still been very rainy/cold - but I saw the sun and some blue sky make a go of it a little while ago -- found that hopeful :) I should try and take Skyler for a walk before it rains again. She doesn't do so well in this weather. Yesterday I tried to take her in between downpours but it really started dumping and we were a ways away from home. She saw the rain falling in front of her and kept trying to BACK OUT out of it  When that didn't work, she just closed her eyes. I guess that made me her seeing eye person. I finally just carried her home cuz she was crying and I felt sort of "mean" dragging her along like that. It was pretty comical but not enough that we'll be trying that again anytime soon. Hope you are all enjoying your Sunday.

No workout today. We went to dd's this weekend so dh could help with the deck for their pool. We had a great time with the grandbaby today. Being the only grandchild here this weekend (well except for family birthday) was fun for her too. She woke up yesterday saying Nana Papa's house and smiling. Had to have popcorn with papa at night. Picked out a pink scooter when we went to look at motorcycles. She said it was her bike:D Not even sure what I want to do this next week. I have a lot of things going on the side. They say rain tomorrow. I sure wish the roofers would have got out here to cover the fifth wheel again. People have been sitting here for a long time with boarded up windows from the hail. Still no sprinkler help but dh does have someone who is supposed to call and come this week.

Hermia, that is great that your future mil is there to help with the wedding. I love Baklava. You will fit the workout in another day:D

Lori, I don't stress like I used to with workout interruptions. I would prefer to know beforehand though. That way I can work around them. My grandchildren are pretty good with my workouts since they grew up with me. My grandbaby now doesn't come on a regular basis anymore so not as easy to work with but I will say she is better. Took weights to show her Papa saying she was exercising with Nana:D
