Hardcore Fitness Maniacs - October 25th

Cathlete
Good Morning!

Today I plan on doing the Cardio Coach Press Play that everyone is doing. The sprints were hurting my knee but we'll see. I wanted something different than CC#8. It looks really nice out so maybe just maybe I could go for a ride even though I'm trying to stay off my bike but if it's going to be nice it will be reeeeeally tempting!

Last Night Muscle Max Saved My Life

Morning Maniacs!!

So last weekend (well, MY weekend sun/mon) I got my full training in just two days and took a few days off. Didn't time properly as there's a huge convention this weekend that Im doing fri/sat/sun so I knew I wouldn't be able to train.. Im a cancer.. and a moonchild.. AND undergoing crazy fatigue the past few months so there's just no way Im going to want to train :(
I knew today Id be there the longest and I was bummed that I might not ge tto trian (or do ANYTHING for that matter) all weekend so I was debating doing a TBW.. thought about it the other night "what would I do??".. Im so used to intense that I don't like the idea of TBW for myself.

However around 9:15 last night I broke out MM.. was so stiff fro mthe day I didn't think Id be able to come up with a good routine myself (that didnt take an hour to prepare) so I pulled out MM.

Just did the weight work (not Ab's) and used heavier weights than Cathe on most of the exercises. I found the circuit style was, ahem, very exhausting.. I had to pause the video just to huff and puff!

Now I used to love this DVD, but in the past I just did a split upper body with it and did it twice for more intensity.. Ive never done it all the way through with little rest! (I did have to pause it to res more as some of the weights I used, particularily on the legs were quite heavy-- I didn't realize that she was gpoing to do 4/4 and low ends lol!!)

Anyway, although I don't feel like I'll be feelin' it much as it was lighter intensity on most of the bodyparts.. I AM glad I did somehting that I won't have to worry about training for a good two days now.. which takes me through the convention :)
..Now I just have to figure out how Im going to EAT.. I must've had 5 mini kitkats yesterday and a couple mini hersheys  (that was the only food and Im on a low-sugar diet!!).. that will be my cheat til the holidays!

So I raved about how good of a TBW MM is when you're pushed for time and exhausted.. just increase the weights if you want to keep it heavy an intense (skip a rep or so)..

Thanks for listening hehe

Happy Workouts!!

Today I had an excellent workout. I worked Back, Biceps and Abs. The back work in this rotation is frustrating because they do a lot of machine work. I'm limited to the back exercises I can do because I only have dumbbells and a barbell. So I changed it around and also changed the bicep work because they have you doing the same exercises as the last two months. Getting bored with those.

45 second rest between each set

BACK
Chin ups:
14/8/5/5
***I haven't done this exercise for about 2 months now. I was worried I lost my endurance on these but it doesn't look like I did! Very happy with these numbers. My best was 15 reps.

Barbell Rows:
105# - 4/4
65# - 20/15
***Did the first three sets with an underhand grip. Did the last set with an overhand grip just to see how my forearms felt. They got fatigued really fast.

Decline Dumbbell Pullovers:
51# - 4/4
35# - 20/20

BICEPS
Barbell Preacher Curls:
60# - 4/4
55# - 12
40# - 20/20
***Should have gone higher with the first two sets. The last two sets at 20 reps was a killer.

Hammer Curls w/Twist:
35's - 4/4
20's - 20/20
***The last two sets burned like a mother.

Concentration Curls:
15's - 20/20
***Haven't done this exercise in forever. They felt good but I should have went higher with the weights.

ABS
Muscle Endurance Ab Work
***Love this ab work! I'm proud of myself, I did abs twice this week!

That is all...

Root Canal went well but I have to go back next Friday for the Dr. to finish. He said I have very long canals so it took a long time for him to clean them out. I felt no pain whatsoever.

Hope you all have a great weekend! Tomorrow is my rest day!

Hey Maniacs!!!

Back from vacation, but still tough to get on computer as entire family wants to get on as well. Had a great time!

Yesterday I did Plyo X and Ab Ripper X. Haven't done plyo x in awhile so woke up with DOMS in my glutes and calves. Also hip flexors feel alittle sore. Getting ready to work back/biceps. Will post tomorrow IF I CAN!!! lol. If not, will post Monday, but just so ya'll know I am not sitting around eating donuts and such.

Did Cardio Coach Press Play with the add on challenge 4 from Cardio Coach #6. Total workout was 71 minutes. It got too windy to go for a ride.

Char - Welcome back!

Debbie - Glad the root canal went well.

I started to check in earlier. Bill Called and weekends are usually our time to talk for awhile:D Anyway, I think I got a good workout in. I started out with the treadmill and jogged/walked doing hills up to 12 incline for 30 minutes and went 2.5 miles then I did 4Day Split HIS Circuit(no w/u) Premix skipping the w/up. I found that upright rows are very painful for my shoulder but the o/h presses don't hurt:0 I stopped at the stretch and did my own lower workout:
Step ups 3 sets of 12 reps 50# on each leg
Bowflex standing cable kickbacks 3X12 60# (up 10# from the last time)
Bowflex Leg Press 3sets of 15 reps 310# supersetted with
Bowflex Calf raises 3 sets of 20 reps 310#
Leg extensions 3sets X 8 reps 260# on the Bowflex
Decline hyper Extensions with 5# ankle weights on the stability ball 3 sets of 12 reps
Both 4Day Split HIS and LIS stretch
I burned 800 calories and worked 2 hours and 2 minutes. Jogged in place for 3 to make it 800 LOL (some of my OCD was coming out)
Tomorrow I have church and a hair appointment and Monday is grandparents day at my grandddaughter's school as soon as school starts, I may try to fit a workout in tomorrow before church.

Charlotte, good to have you back.

Suz, nice cardio workout:)

Debbie, glad the root canal was not too bad. One I had took longer than it was supposed too and when the pain med wore off I was in horrible pain. Not sure what caused it because I had one after that and was so dreading it and it was not bad at all. Good job getting abs in twice:) I am sure your abs get plenty of work though as heavy as you lift.

My husband is hollering already for me to come downstairs. Good Gosh...

Anyhow, here is my workout:

BACK
Chin ups:
8/7/5/5
Somewhat satisfied with these. Still would like to get back up to 15, but know in time I will.

One Arm Rows:
55# - 4/4
40# - 20/20
Pushed it really hard on these. Think I need to go down in weight next time as my form was not perfect.

Lat Pulldowns
100# - 4/4
70# - 20/20

BICEPS
Barbell Preacher Curls:
80# - 4/4
65# - 12
50# - 20/20
Should have curled 85# to start out with.

Zottman's:
30's - 4/4
20's - 20/20
The last few reps of the 20's was just crazy.

Concentration Curls:
30's - 20/20
Last few reps was hard.

The combination of back and bicep is just brutal. Tomorrow will be Imax 2 in the morning...Sunday so I got to start early or I will never get it in, not with family and stuff going on.

Anyhow, wish I could talk more.

Diane Sue - Very nice workout! I would have done the same thing to get to 800. Funny! When my shoulder was bad I couldn't do upright rows at all. I can do them now but I don't have very good range of motion on my right side. I know you're supposed to lift your elbows higher than your shoulders and it's really hard for me on that side. I hope you had a really nice chat with Bill. I bet you really look forward to that. :)

Char - You go girl! I've been thinking I need to really work on my form. I think that's going to help me with my pullups (making sure I'm strengthening the right muscles). I usually have great form but I think lately maybe not as much when I get more tired. Those are some hefty weights you're throwing around!!!

I've done really well with my eating today (meaning I've eaten more calories than what I normally eat). You guys would be proud of me! I figure I'm burning so many now with P90X and all the cardio that I shouldn't get FAT. I almost weighed 111 today. :)

Tomorrow is my rest day. I'm going to my rock band church in the morning and then we are going to lunch at Red Lobster with my mom, her husband, my sister, her SO and my DH to celebrate my sister and her SO's birthdays.

Hi all! Literally had to drag myself off the couch to workout today, but I did it and now I feel great! DH went golfing and DS went paintballing so I had the couch and TV to myself!!! A rarity! So I took full advantage of it. Even took a nap! But decided to get my butt off the couch and do something productive. Had a great workout!

CF 30 min step only
PS Legs and Abs
40# barbell for squats, sit-n-stands, deadlifts
15#/20# db for lunges, leg pressses
5# ankle weight for inner/outer thigh
15# plate w/hip thrusts

MEALS:
M1 4 egg white veggi/cheese omelet, 1/2 wg bagel, cup of berries
M2 pear, almonds
M3 tuna on 1 slice wg bread w/spinach, cucumber slices, carrot sticks, XZ energy drink
M4 protein shake w/banana and strawberries
M5 lean pork chop, brown rice, salad

Debbie...good job on the ab work this week!
Suz...Congrats on your eating.
Char..very impressive with those weights. Nice! BTW, what are Zottman's?

Today was CCPP - I did 6 miles on the bike, 1.11 on the stepmill, and 2.25 on the treadmill, for 78 minutes and 818 calories - max HR 185, avg 158. Whew - fun :p

Debbie - glad the root canal went fine - bummer to have to go back though. At least it will be done...

I just did Amy's 10 min solution Bootcamp. I went to Target and ran across it there. That was a surprisingly tough workout. The cardio segment and cardio weight drills got the heart rate up pretty quickly. The ab assault and rock bottom sculpt were pretty tough. I liked her towel stretch too. She fits a lot of bootcamp style moves in and there are mountain climbers blended with weights. Planks with military style crawls. I really liked this one. Oh and I burned 350 calories doing it and it was 54 minutes long start to finish. I probably should have waited to do it till tomorrow since I already worked out, but was anxious to try it out LOL
I normally have Sunday as a rest day but will probably workout because I have to be at my granddaughters school at 8:30 Monday for grandparents day.

Sonya, I laid down on the couch this afternoon to read and fell asleep. Took me a bit to get back to moving around again. Good workout:)

Suz, I couldn't lift the dumbbells very far and I had lightened up the weight a lot. The second time Cathe did them I just did double arm rows because I didn't want to feel the pain again. How did you get yours to improve? I have been trying to be careful with it for awhile now. Good for you with the eating. I am up a couple of pounds myself. Trying to keep it clean though. Today has been good. Sounds like you have a fun day planned for tomorrow.

Shana - Great cardio today!

Diane Sue - You sure burned a lot of calories today! As for my shoulder, I went to physical therapy and they had me do band work (no weights) for a few months but I got to do it on my own since I work out and they weren't worried about my form. But when I first went I had stopped lifting weights for 4 months and had only been doing cardio. I had just gotten burned out I guess. So I had to start from scratch b/c my shoulder was really weak. But I don't know that they would have let me do weights anyway. That was the first time since I was like 16 that I had quit lifting! Who knew that would actually do harm to my shoulder??? The one thing they really stress though, like I mentioned, is rotator cuff moves. In the past when my shoulder had acted up but not as bad as this time, I would just lift really light - like 5lbs until I could get it healthy again. This time it had gotten to the point that I wasn't sleeping, couldn't do simple things like reaching for my mouse on my desk at work and stuff like that. It was a constant pain and that's why I finally went to the doctor - mostly the not sleeping part though.

Suz - I had missed your post about the eating. 111 - way to go. How tall you are? Can't remember if that was you who was talking about being really tall or not. I've considered P90x, but have never gone beyond that. I must say, though, it is tempting. Have you done it before? BTW - no pull ups for me today. That one took it all out of me yesterday...I did Supersets last night. That was a new one for me although I've had it for a while. I really enjoyed it. Not as hard as probably most but great when you want something different, fun, and enough - I didn't want to overdo it b/c of CCPP today. Also, I've been meaning to ask if you like yogurt. There are two brands that are very similar - Fage and Oikos. Have you tried them? The plain has 6 grams of sugar (I think) and 90 or 100 calories but the great thing is 15 grams of protein. I add frozen blueberries, some walnuts, and some high quality dark chocolate chips (about 6-8) and it makes a great snack that is really good for you. I look forward to it and can always count on it being something that I will eat.

Diane Sue - After I posted my workout, I went into the other room, thinking about the calories I burned when it hit me - HOLY SMACK - I burned more than Diane Sue today!! Something was not right with the universe - glad you got it back to spinning correctly with your usual over 1000 calorie mark! I was not at all surprised that you did another complete workout tonight - me, I was DONE. No way, no how, no more for moi:eek:

Hi there everyone. Tonight I did Amy's Slo Mo legs, but the two sets premix, and then I did the blast challenge of kickmax through the seventh blast. After that I was done for. Earlier I did Ravi and Ana's A.M. Yoga.

Yay on 111 pounds, Suz! You can now legally give blood! lol!

Diane, now I'm re-intrigued by Amy's bootcamp. I didn't think it would be particularly challenging, but if you thought it was, it most definitely would be for me! Do you by chance have Tracey's Metaboost workout? I've been contemplating that one.
