Hello everyone,
I hope you had a great holiday season! My christmas present to myself was to trade in my trainer for a workout partner (my sis-in-law) and some great home equipment! I bought a Body Solid Pro Power Cage with the optional cable attachment, which gives me a high and low cable with a 210 lb. weight stack!!! I also bought a bunch of attachments for the cable, an olympic weight set, an incline/decline bench with a leg developer attachment (for extensions and curls) and a rack so my dumbells are not all over the floor anymore. With the equipment I already had plus my trusty treadmill, my basement is now truly a home gym!!! Can you tell I'm a little bit excited about this :-jumpy?
The second half of last year was a slow and steady decline for me in terms of my fitness goals, and I was becoming increasingly frustrated with both myself and my trainer, so it was time to make some major changes in my strategy! I still have my gym membership because it's pretty cheap and there are some times I just need the motivation of seeing what everyone else is doing, plus have some cardio crosstraining options. Also, I have a TV/VCR in the basement/home gym so I can pop in a fitness video to mix it up, too. No more excuses, huh?
Anyway, I am considering buying a software package called the Vivonic Fitness Planner to run with the palm pilot DH gave me for Christmas. I wanted this to help me keep track and organize my fitness plan now that I am "on my own". Have any of you used this or know anything about it? Is it worth the $40, or should I just create a fitday account or something. The big attraction of this software is that since it runs with the palm I can easily make entries during the day when I may not have access to a PC, and doing it all at the end of the day just doesn't work for me.
Sorry for the long post. There are few people in my life who understand how important this stuff is to me, so I guess I just needed to talk about it!! Hope you're all having a great and fit start to the new year!
