hey, everybody! i was hoping everyone would share their thoughts on clever halloween costumes that aren't a lot of trouble. i feel like i've spent quite a bit of time & money on costumes in the past and am not in the mood to do it again... any ideas? in case it helps, i'm a fairly petite 28 year-old female. thanks!

Last year I was a Survivor contestant - it was cheap and easy. I wore my grubby khaki garden shorts, dirty tank top, Teva's, and a doo-rag. Accessories were a Tiki torch that I picked up at Home depot for about $3 and a couple of rubber reptiles that I hung around my neck and belt loops.

It was the most comfortable Halloween I costume I ever wore!

This one's cute and cheap: Get a large clear garbage bag. Cut leg holes and arm holes. Step into the bag. Fill it up with multi-colored balloons. Gather it around your neck with a ribbon and a big tag that says, "Jellybeans 75 cents" or whatever the going rate is.

If you are going to the event with a date, you can be two trees with a clothesline in between. You and your date wear brown /tan pants with green shirts, and pin some fake leaves to yourselves from Michael's or another craft store. Tie a rope in between yourselves and clothespin shirts/underwear and stuff to it.

Works til one of you wants to use the potty.

ONe of the best costumes that i've ever seen was a garbage can. They took a tin garbage can, or you can use a plastic one if you'd rather. Cut out the bottom, cut holes for the arms and put sting over the top to keep it up. Then glued empty pop cans, bags of chips, whatever you want on the rim. They then took the top of the garbage can and used an elastic stip to go under the chin to keep it on like a hat! It was soo funny that girl won first prise at the costume contest.
Oh, and they glued more garbage on the rim of the hat. Heck you could glue a cheap stuffed animal, like a racoon or a cat to the side too. Just a thought!
